I'd been shopping around with local kitchen remodelers but oddly enough none seemed very interested in working with me. I first started out wanting just to vent the exhaust fan and install new appliances with associated new cabinets. However, that apparently did not appeal to the local guys. I wanted to take advantage of the end of year appliance sales, so went to Lowes to order them. I didn't want top of the line: Viking, Bosch, Wolf, but wanted something a bit nicer than the usual GE and Whirlpool (knowing, of course most standard appliances are made by Whirlpool just with different designs). I chose the top of the KichenAid line: induction cook top, wall oven, microwave and warming drawer. I ordered the exhaust fan from Amazon, it's a Zephyr, chosen for its effectiveness and ease of cleaning. While I was working with the Lowes appliance salesperson, he asked if I'd given any thought to having them estimate my kitchen. Well, no, I hadn't. I had a bad experience with Home Depot with trying to request an estimate, so I just crossed big box stores off the list. However, he introduced me to the kitchen planner and he seemed so interested and actually sounded like he'd like to work with me. So sure, why not? When I met with him to review the estimate, he showed me how he would alter the kitchen to fit the new appliances, and install the exhaust fan. Then he said, look at this, I thought I'd do a redesign just for something to compare with the half plan. He was not able to match the existing builder grade cabinets, but had found something close enough, but I was intrigued with the plan he designed. And it was a bit less than I thought a whole redesign might be. So after mulling it over a few days I decided to go with the full redesign. I was so pleased with the way both the kitchen designer and the cabinet planner worked with me. As they walked me through the plan, I'd ask for a change. The planner would make the change in his program and the plan would be updated along with the altered price. It was great, I had drawings that detailed each area of my new kitchen and an easy to read overall plan. The kitchen designer helped me choose backsplash and was very helpful with guidance in choosing the granite counter top. He even helped me find cabinet pulls that look spectacular with the cabinets. But the very best part of this was the demolition and construction planning that was clear and exactly as they described. There was a Lowes project manager who worked with the designer, cabinet planner, and also with the construction company which was a vendor for Lowes. She organized every detail and communicated with me at every step. If there were changes, she let me know in enough time so that I was able to alter my schedule to accommodate them. There were few of those, and the work proceeded pretty much exactly as they told me it would. They said I'd be without a kitchen for about 4 weeks and it was just about that long. I'd recommend this Lowes for any complex kitchen work. In fact, I'm thinking about redoing my master bath, and will definitely call them again.

I have to say that all of the people involved were thoroughly polite, professional and did superb work. My kitchen is absolutely gorgeous. My only complaint is that it took forever. Months longer than I expected. Everything they did was delayed for one reason or another. The cabinets took months to arrive. Various delays happened with scheduling. And so then the contractors were delayed waiting for each other. From the time I walked into Lowes until the kitchen was completed took 8 months. It only took 3 months for my original entire house to be built (10 years ago). I have to say that I would use any of the people who worked in my kitchen again. In fact I am planning to replace a leaky French door and will use them.
