Lesson learned, we should have done our homework on this provider. We relied on Total Home to select a quality provider, which in hindsite was a big mistake. The first crew they sent were extremely incompetent. They spent two days installing the panels and connecting them to the pool equipment. The entire time they cussed and argued over how it should be done. I have kids and don't appreciate the language and the unprofessional behavior. The plumbing they installed to connect to the pool equipment was sloppy (PVC cement everywhere including on the heat pump and the side of the house). Additionally, it was leaking profusely and they were ready to leave the job before I stopped them and inspected their work. One glance at it and I told them that this work was completely unacceptable. Additionally, they did not coordinate with the roofer as to where they were putting the panels. My instruction was to put the new panels where the old ones has been. However, the roofer had put a roof vent where the panels had been. Consequently, AllSolar arrange the panels around the roof vent and it looked really, really bad. I was ready to fire them off the job altogether, when another person from AllSolar (Johnny) arrived and tried to remedy the shoddy work, without success. The system still leaked. Two days later another person from AllSolar (Manny) arrived to fix all the problems. Manny was great, he completely pulled out the work the previous crew had done and replaced it with a clean, leak-free installation. He put stickers in place to show how the water was flowing from the solar to the heat pump, to the pool. He was professional, and polite and clearly knew what he was doing. However, in the walk-through, we noticed the roof decking was warped near one of the new panels. The roofer was blaming AllSolar and AllSolar was blaming the roofers. I stated to both of them that if no one is going to assume responsibility for it, then neither party will get paid until it is resolved. AllSolar's salesperson, Ray, called me an asked if I could pay them half of the job while they were getting the warped roofing fixed. At this point they have 3 days of work into this job and they needed help making payroll. I explained to Ray that their cash flow problem was not my fault; had they sent a competent crew the first time, they would have been paid long ago. Eventually AllSolar removed a panel, the roofer fixed the decking on the roof, and AllSolar was paid. Long story short, I would have rated them a solid F, had they not sent Manny. I give Manny an A+, but I have no use for the rest of the company. Consequently, overall I am giving them a D rating, which I think is generous.
