The service was fine except they expect all of their service people to be salesmen. Any time there was scheduled maintenance the service man spent considerable time trying to sell you another product.

Called to replace a pressure switch on a residential pump system. When tech came out, he told me that I needed a new control box and a new pressure switch. I said, ok, how much? He wouldn't even tell me how much until he went through the whole sales spiel I'd already heard from the dispatcher. I get it. Ace is all about the customer. Anyway, after about 10-15 minutes out in his truck, taking a smoke break, he came back in with a quote. Then came the up-sales. $370 for a "Family Plan" annual maintanance agreement. No thank you, I said. Ok, how about a plumbing agreement? $175. I said again, no thank you. How much for the work? After all the up-sales were removed, the final quote was.... $992. For a $120 1hp control box ( which he said was $742 ) and $200 plus for a $12-15 pressure switch. Over charge much? After I said there was no way I could pay that, he went outside to replace the box cover and to make a call. After a few minutes, he came back in the house and said his service manager could take another $150 off, to bring it down to $850 or something. I was floored! In the meantime, I had another call to the company who replaced it before. He quoted me $230 for everything... Box, switch and labor. I showed the Ace tech receipts of the work done before and how there was such a huge descripancy in price. His only answer was I don't set the prices. After I told him what I just got a quote for, I hold him thanks for coming out, but there was no way I would pay that much for something I know shouldn't be over $250. Wrote him a check for $69 for coming out and he went on his way. Got what I needed done from the other company, and as it it turns out, I did not need a new control box after all. Saved another $100 right there. I am sure Ace probably does good work, but man, those up-sales and exorbitant prices! I felt gouged on that price. I wouldn't recommend Ace based on value, no matter how good they claim the work to be. Be cautious if you use Ace.

Was on time & Very Professional. Gave us an estimate on the spot and told us what our electrical issues were. We started off only replacing some of the GFI & breaker our electrician told us we'd need to replace the electrical panel but we chose to wait. He told us what signs to watch for that it was getting worse. Unfortunately; it didn't have as much life left in it as we had hoped, so he came out & replaced it. They gave us credit back for the original work since it had been less than a couple of weeks. They are expensive; but when it comes to electrical I want the job done right so we don't have to worry. We now have a lifetime guarantee on the electrical panel.

Excessively expensive ($8270.00) for a 3.5 ton Goodman unit that should have been around 4000, but it was on a hot Florida Sunday in June. My wife has COPD and she has difficulty breathing in a hot house. The compressor went out in the old system. The whole system was changed out the next morning in a record time just 3 1/2 hours, the old system was going off and on, so the installation people keep the unit running and unpacked the new system so that the house stayed somewhat cooler till the whole system was swapped out, except for the price, I was happy with the quick installation, warranty, and quality. The new unit cools down even faster than when the old Lennox unit was installed. The house stays cool now and that's peace of mind.
Description of Work: Swapped out a 10 year old Lennox A/C and Heating heat pump system with a Goodman system, same tonnage, same seer.

After he gave me the quote I said I felt this was unfair and unreasonable and he shrugged his shoulders and said this is how we do it. I called Angie's list and got a refund for the coupon that I bought. I now get phone calls several times a year telling me I need my HVAC serviced. I ask them to stop calling as I never did business with them and the calls continue to this day. I would not recommend them. I went with someone else and got my speakers installed.
Description of Work: I bought the 2 hours of electrical work for $99 Angie's list deal. Prior to purchase I called and spoke with them asking if I could use this to install in-ceiling speakers I was told it would be no problem since the wiring was already in place (they were simply replacing the speakers that hung down from the ceiling and installing flush mount). They called and scheduled a time to come to the house for the install, when they showed up 3 hours late at 5:00 pm on a Friday they said they would not be completing the job that day and were there to simply give me a quote.?.?. I said I had purchased the coupon for 2 hours of work and it would not take that long to cut the holes and install. The guy said no that is not how we do this, we quote out the job and give you an estimate and give you a credit for the coupon. He proceeded to hand me an estimate of $520.46 additional that I would have to pay when they came back to install... This seems like the old bait and switch to me!

Hello [Member Name Removed], I am sorry for your experience and customers sometimes do not understand what it takes to do a job properly. We have moved away from the two hours of time purchased through Angies list as in two hours you can only get so much work done. Angies List collects the money and if you asked them for a refund and they did not give it to you please let me know I will get it done for you or give it to you myself even though we never got paid for it to my knowledge. Here at Ace we stand behind all our work and only want the best for our customers. Take Care, Charlie

My appointment was changed twice in one day then cancelled for the next morning. That was changed after I was told someone would be here within an hour. When the technician finally did come in the afternoon almost an hour after the time they gave me he wanted to charge me the $69 fee for the visit and the cost of replacing one GFI outlet of $193. plus tax of course which would have made it almost $300 for one GFI outlet. I asked them to leave at that point and I was charged the service fee. That seems a bit excessive to me based on all my dealings with Electricians in New Jersey. The other note is that their office is about 1 mile from my home.

Ace was the only firm I found who could send someone out on a Sunday afternoon. The power surge came earlier in the day when lights became very bright but then clicked off with a couple of loud "pops". Four breakers were thrown and lights in the house were flickering. Several appliances no longer worked (vent hood over stove, clothes dryer). Major items...TV, computers, refrigerator...were not affected. The man from Ace seemed to do a thorough job at checking, but I don't know anything about electrical issues. As he was explaining the problems he found, his words became more and more sensational as I didn't respond to his initial recommendation of replacing the panel. He said that the "entire" panel was burned and pointed to discoloration in the box. I didn't see anything that looked burned, just some wires a little darker than others. He started using phrases like "your house could burn down" if this isn't replaced. I felt pressured. When I asked for an estimate and he said almost $4000, I realized I needed a second opinion. The next day, I contacted an electrician who has worked for several of my neighbors. He checked everything out, said there was nothing "burned" in the electrical panel, but that a couple of wires were loose. He tightened them and during discussion, I found he had at one point worked for Ace, but left quickly when he was instructed to "bill high". When I explained the problems I was having in the house, he recommended that I call my power company. He charged $50 and left. I contacted my power company who came out and found a short in the wires between the box at the road and my house. They repaired it and I haven't had a problem since.

He Flushed out my AC line. And we agreed on one price he did the work, and did not let me sign for it nor did he get the money. They just drove off. Then it took me 3 weeks to get them to come down on the price. I will never use them again. Besides they are high than ever one else. They also wanted to redo my duct work, for more money so overall it really was a mess. The way it is suppose to happen is you get a price, then you agree and sign the contract. then when the work is done you pay them. It really is that simple. Unfortunately that is not what happened.

Everything went fine, when he was done, he went around and checked most receptacles for proper wiring. I had a electronic device plugged in in my laundry room it wasn't working, I sent it back, got a new one and the same thing, not working, sent that one back. A short time later, I plugged in an air compressor in my car port. When I turned it on, it ran super fast and started shaking than it burst into flames, I pulled the plug and put out the fire. I got my multi-meter and checked the voltage in both car port and laundry room, and quot;208 voltsand quot; NOT the 110 volts that it should have been. I called Ace, told them about it and they sent out the same man who did the work. After about an hour, he said it was fixed, he claimed the problem was the receptacle in the laundry room had a ground wire hanging loose and it some how caused the problem. A little back ground, I have a 2 wire electrical system, no ground wire. The laundry room and car port receptacles were on the same fuse on the old system. I have a degree in electronics so I'm not and quot;naiveand quot; about electrical circuits. I measured 208 volts across the and quot;hotand quot; and neutral. The only way that can happen is 1 phase wired to the and quot;hotand quot; or left plug and the other phase wired to the neutral or right plug. When I asked about reimbursement for the Air compressor, he told me and quot;It was the ground wire and not his fault and that he and quot;couldand quot; charge me for the new receptacle. *** Contacted by Charlie from Ace, all issues have been resolved, I should have called Charlie at the time of the problem. I will use Ace again, making an appointment.

This outlet was in a commercial building coming from an electrical that was full and had no space for another breaker so changes had to be made to the panel and the outlet was between 80-100 feet away from the panel to the new printer. we gave this customer a price we did not do any business with him and no money was exchanged I do not know how he can rate our services when he did not see the quality and value of work performed. he was hoping for a lower price but this was the price it would take to do this work properly and to meet code.

It was Saturday night, on the 4th of July weekend when the home AC stop working. I thought it will be difficult and expensive to get service and repair on a Sunday. I was wrong... First I singed up on Angies list and I was able to find a collection of AC repair and service near my location. Most of them were close on Sundays, and if available cost an arm and a leg to come out. I came across ACE who was available 24/7. I called and talk to Lanny, who was very professional and helpful. She told me a technician would at my home in less that two hours and that it will only cost $89.00. I was very pleased since other companies asked from $129.00 to as much as $210.00. Tom came on time, was very professional, and solved the problem in less than an hour. I am very pleased...

Saw the reviews so I thought I'd give them a try - They charge a flat and quot;consulting feeand quot; of $70 - They explained that if they did the job the $70 would be applied - I needed a light installed and they quoted me $480 ... their competition was $200 - I also had old 10 year old smoke sectors and bought new ones to upgrade - Ace installation was $280 ... competition was $140 - They also offer air condition service but like the other services they were way out on price I called and spoke to a manager named Charlie to try and figure out why they were so fat out on price - Being double just didn't make sense - He explained that Ace charges by the job not the hour so I wouldn't have any surprises once the job was started - I explained I never had any surprises before - Long story short I went with my usual service provider - Great work and a better value

They are really, really good. I was really amazed at the professionalism. They are real friendly. They are very pleasant and they know what they are talking about. They don't do things based on opinion. The first time the guy came was in April. He did a really good job in locating a Freon leak. He fixed the leak and took his time and drained all the old Freon out and everything. I was really surprised, I was like "Wow". We had several people working on the a/c unit and giving us their opinions and all the cared about was getting money. Ace really knows what they are talking about. I'm not the a/c guy, but I have been paying attention to these people and Ace was the most professional. Even though the first time they were scheduled to come they were a little late, but they called to let us know. It wasn't the person who was initially supposed to come, but the person who came knew his job so it wasn't a big problem. They are pretty secure, and they don't let just anybody work for them. I was like concerned, I asked what happened to the guy who was supposed to come, and he was like "He got caught up in another job so they sent me". They sent this man named Gus. It was really pleasant to see how professional they were and how they cared about us. I felt safe with them. They should be coming at the end of this month for their last review. I called them this morning just to confirm.

We chose to call this company because they were not too far from our home, but when we ask for an estimate we were told that they charge $65 to do an estimate and when I ask if that would be applied to the job, was told that she would have to check with her boss. We were able to find several other local companies that were able to do free estimates. I really don't know how to rate a company that did no work, so my F rating is based solely on their inability to give me a free estimate.

We believe in being upfront with all our customers and we do charge a 69.00 dispatch fee to come out to a home as a lot of people do in the Home Improvement business. when we get there we give the customer options for there project and exact prices for each option. Other companies pricing will have the money in it just in another fashion as it takes a lot of money to run trucks all around town and we have been doing this for years. Once we give the price we are available to do the job right there and then in most cases, and we have many happy customers as we take pride in our work. i find it hard to believe this customer rated us an F and has never done business with us.

Tremaine was courteous during his visit but didn't seem to know how to properly troubleshoot the problem. Quoted us $1683 to fix a leak...stating he would need to remove the toilet and rip up the floor as the leak was below the cement foundation. Also quoted us $5347 to re-pipe our home and kept stressing that they offer financing. This process would take 3 days to perform. I was glad to pay the $69.00 service charge to have him leave my house. Another company fixed the leak for $275.00, properly diagnosed the leak was in the wall pipe and quoted us $3,375 to re-pipe our home, which we are going to do. The other company also described in detail what happens in the re-piping process and it would take 1 day to perform and the next day would be for any wall repair. I would not recommend ACE plumbing to anyone based on this experience. We will not use their services again, for anything.
Description of Work: Tech gave a quote to repair a leak in our master bathroom.

They came out after I purchased a Big Deal from them and it turned out well. I had to contact them to set up the appointment and everything was fine when I did that. He came in for the basic AC tune up. It was the first time that I used him. When he came out he did come on time.
