Above The Rest Doors

Our third time using this company at two different houses. The only company we will ever use for garage door issues. After making suggestions on my two doors and doing all repair, I walked him over to my neighbors who I knew had an issue. After introductions their issues were quickly resolved and yet another fan/customer was earned. Great job.

I was not home when Doug arrived but my wife was there when he arrived. After testing the door he explained everything to my wife and then he called me at work and told me that he had made a few adjustments in regards to track alignment. He also adjusted the closing of the door so it would close to hard as that was causing some slack which was resulting in some of the shuddering that was occurring when the door was opened. I then asked Doug how much I owed for the service and he indicated that there was no charge since he was only there for a few minutes and the service was only minor adjustments. I am not writing this review because there was no charge but because of how honest Doug was, his explanation of the problems, what to look for in the future and his punctuality. I got Doug's company, ABOVE THE REST GARAGE DOORS, off of Angie's list and I am very happy I did. I will and would recommend ABOVE THE REST GARAGE DOORS to everyone. Service like I received is a thing of the past and I am glad to see there are still a few companies that provide such service.

The tech was professional and responsive. He showed me everything he was doing and provided advice on general maintenance tips I could do myself to keep my garage door working properly for years. I was extremely pleased with the service. The door was aligned properly and I learned a lot during the visit. I will absolutely use this company again.

Doug showed up ahead of schedule (and called to notify me he'd be early), immediately identified my problem (prior contractor had installed the garage door return device too low to allow the door to pass freely), and fixed it on the spot. With a smile. In, done, out! A+ recommendation.

On my first try to contact the company, I never got a call back. I tried again and was helped by Manny to set up an appointment to come out and inspect my garage. Previously I contacted another well rated company on Angie's List, but they gave me a quote of $420 for the exact same work to be done! Manny came out exactly when he was scheduled to and told us exactly what the garage door needed. After agreeing, he started right away and was very efficient. The only downside to this revel is that he only had 9 rollers, but promised that he would return with the last roller for the door.

The Big Deal was for a check-up and general servicing of the garage door/opener unit., but the tech found that the motor on my opener was shot and had to be replaced. The $350 covered the Big Deal and the replacement opener. One of the owners came back a week later to replace the outside remote because the tech didn't have one with him at the time of the initial appointment. Very efficient, professional and provided more service than was expected. That the owner came back at my convenience to replace the outdoor unit was very impressive.

They arrived on time and performed the services in an extremely professional manner even reaching the upper springs for our RV garage with no problem. Several months later they returned for a service call when one of the doors would not work. They diagnosed a broken spring and provided excellent service at a fair price. Again, they arrived on time and completed the services as promised. We will continue to use them and highly recommend them to others.

Average - Used inexpensive components. Door making noise again.

Doug did a top rate job! I've recently purchased a new house and the existing garage door opener had issues. For starters, it was not mounted properly and tore away from the wall mount. He reattached it properly and it is now working smoothly. He also installed a light that was apparantely never installed in the first place. In addition, he provided me with a garage door opener for the car.

On Saturday June 29, the company was contacted and promptly scheduled an appointment for the following Monday, July 1 from 1-3pm. The technician arrived promptly and repaired the garage door in short order. I would rely on this service provider again in the future.

Professional, curteous, dependable, reliable, arrived per time expected. Will definitely call this gentleman again for future service.

A service appointment was made for adjusting the garage door as it was not rolling smoothly and was making a loud squeal. Prior to the scheduled appointment time, Mr. Berlin called to say that the inclement weather had delayed him with completing work at another customer's location. He asked if there would be an issue with him arriving later in the day. He also called a second time when he was enroute to our home to let us know his arrival time. We appreciated his keeping us apprised of the delay and arrival time. The service work was performed quickly and professionally.

The service man of the company came at the appointed time, was very friendly outgoing and had a great sense of humor. worked on the garage door as per coupon deal, and did above and beyond with the service. He seemed to know a lot about garage doors and how to maintain them throw out the year. Gave me some good advice to keep door running and if anything to call back if the door needed further work. The job did not take to long and it was a pleaser.

They were outstanding. They came in and fixed it and it's working now. It was great, competent individuals. They knew what they were doing and did it in a very professional manner.

Honestly, after Doug left I told my husband that it was one of the best experiences I had ever had with any service provider. Doug was very prompt, called before he came and very efficient. He didn't charge for the service call, and gave me an estimate for two different options for my broken garage door. We decided to get a new opener and he came the next day and installed it. He was extremely kind and considerate, from taking off his shoes to walk the 15 feet from the front door to the garage door and even knocking on the garage door before coming back in...a very thoughtful gesture seeing that I was home without my husband. We were extremely happy with him and the services he provided. Would recommend him in a heartbeat!

Our house was built in 1968 with a real wood garage door. The garage door opener was installed in 1974 and was still working, but it was rather creaky and it didn't seem to have a safety stop feature. Also, my husband was no longer able to lift it when the power was out - we figured this was due to age, his not that of the door. We decided we needed some replacements and a battery back-up opener. Doug arrived for the estimate as scheduled. He looked at the door and noticed that one spring was broken and two rollers were out of their track. These serious problems were why my husband couldn't lift the door. In fact, Doug said that our old Sears opener was extremely strong to be able to continue to lift the door in spite of these issues. He put the rollers back in place before we continued talking. The opener definitely seemed to be a safety hazard at this point, even though it was working. Doug provided several alternatives for a new door and new openers and answered our innumerable questions. He wasn't pushy, just very informative. After he left, we decided that we would replace the opener only, called Doug, and it was scheduled for a few days later. Doug again arrived on time. As he was installing the new opener, he discovered that the wood that holds the opener chain was only firmly attached to the wall with one screw. The whole thing could have come crashing down at any moment. He replaced the broken spring and tightened up everything on the door. We chose the Liftmaster 3265 with two remotes, two lights, and a keypad. The keypad was part of a sale. We didn't have it installed, but kept it for the future. We now feel safe and are very happy with our choice of opener and even happier with our choice of installer. We would definitely recommend Doug Berlin of Above the Rest Garage Doors.

Doug came out to give me an estimate. He was very polite and professional. When his tech came out he showed up on time, was very polite and professional. They did an outstanding job and I am very happy with how it all turned out.

Doug was incredibly responsive, professional and straightforward from the moment we called him. He was candid about what the issues were and very specific about what needed to be repaired/replaced and what did not. We got several estimates and Doug was the only vendor to give us an option that did not involve a $1000 whole door replacement. After discussing the options with him, we decided on a fix for the existing door. Doug was glad to schedule the work and on a Thursday, he promised to be out on the following Monday to make the fix. He arrived on time, fixed the door more quickly and even more thoroughly than we expected and the fix is working wonderfully for us. He even gave us a hand in reprogramming our existing opener to work with our new remotes. A couple of days after the work was done, our opener remotes stopped working. We called Doug and he walked us through a solution over the phone and in 10 minutes, everything was working beautifully again. My husband and I joked that we wished we had more than one garage door so we could call on Doug again. We will absolutely be reaching out to Doug at Above the Rest Garage Doors when we are ready to replace the whole door down the road.

, I needed one garage door opener repaired and the outdoor control panel wasn't working. Doug came out and gave me a great quote, came when he said he would and did a great job of installation. I ended up replacing both double garage door openers, and replacing the outside control panel. Doug also programmed all three of our cars to open the garage doors. I thought his price was fair and his advice was good. I had another company refuse to give me price estimates for the same service over the phone, said they would not work on garage doors that had springs over 7 years old unless they also replaced those, and charged $49 for a service call, although waived that for Angie's List customers. Doug said he couldn't guarantee how long the springs would last, but there really wasn't a price savings in doing it now. I really trust him, and would recommend him without hesitation. He is great!

We were very pleased with the overall quality of the service.
