Above The Rest Doors

We returned from vacation to find that our door would only open about foot. I searched on Angie's List and found Above the Rest. I called and left a message and Doug called back. He was able to get a tech to our house the same day!! Manny called before he arrived and showed up exactly when he said he would. He saw we had a broken spring and recommended we replace both. My husband and I agreed and manny had the repair completed in about 30 minutes - including lubing the joints and spring!!! Now we know who to call if we ever have trouble with our garage door!!!

Manny was very professional and courteous. He installed our new garage opener efficiently. He explained the new unit very well to us. I definitley recommend this company!!

I called Above the Rest on Thursday after our garage door unexpectedly stopped working. They weren't able to see me same day, but had an opening the following afternoon, so I took it. The tech showed up within the given window and called beforehand to let me know he was on his way (I love when companies do this so I can know when to put my dog up!). He arrived right on time and diagnosed the problem almost instantly. He gave me the price of replacing the part ($95) and I gave him the green light to go ahead with the work. I have no idea if this is a standard price for this type of work, because I've never had this problem with our garage door. But $95 was the walk-out-the-door price for everything. Once he had taken down the old part, he gave me a thorough explanation of why and how it had gone bad. I love when I get the reason behind a broken item; I feel like I learn so much and can prevent the problem from happening in the future. Turns out, our door had been too heavy for the flimsy old part and had caused the gear teeth to dissolve down to nothing! This explained why our door had gotten so noisy prior to breaking and also explained why we weren't able to operate it. Once everything was replaced and installed, he even gave the track, springs, and wheels a coating of grease/WD-40 to cut down on the noise further. It's working and so much quieter than it was! Apparently newer, more upgraded garage doors are even quieter, so he advised us to replace the entire door if this one starts giving us more problems, but assured us that replacing it was not necessary now while everything is working. The visit took no more than 30 minutes, start to finish, and the tech was very nice and very informative. Will definitely hire again if I have to!

This was one responsive guy. Called him and got voice mail but received a return call within an hour. He came the next day and after trying several things to give our old door CPR, he declared it DOA. He installed a new Lift Master Security + door within an hour. The door worked well, however our older early 2012 and 2008 cars (both with Homelink) did not work with the new frequencies used by the new Lift Master. We used the remote for a couple of days over the holiday and Doug returned with a no charge repeater/gateway that made our Homelink work perfectly. He spent time to reprogram both car's to work with our two garage doors making everything work flawlessly. He had a good wit and charm that made it all a very good experience. I would recommend this firm to anyone in the area.

Everything went well. Doug explained the maintenance that should be performed on the rollers and springs and very efficiently repaired the garage door. It's operating well so far and I am very satisfied with the repair.

They did excellent work. He was very attentive to my needs. He did the job that I expected. I felt he went above and beyond.

Doug was able to stop by the same day that we called for a free estimate to repair the damaged weather stripping bar at the bottom of the garage door. He called first as promised and arrived within the time he estimated. He was able to repair the damage. Doug checked the safety features and did a tune up on the garage door. Great service!

Called Doug the day before and he was available the next day (was available the same day but I was out of town). Doug called before arriving and was on-time. He reviewed what he was going to do and kept to the original price quoted. Doug checked the doors and openers to ensure they were still in good condition and lubricated the doors to prevent the screeching sounds. Doug was finished in approx 30 minutes as stated.

Douglas Berlin, is the owner and operator. He is very timely and personable. He did some troubleshooting and completed some repairs on the garage door for my rental property to get it working properly. I have since used him again for additional work. Everything has turned out very good.

He checked the rollers, ensured they were properly lubricated, and the lights were correctly aligned. Did not charge us for services not needed. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend.

Door attachment to overhead belt got broken. American Home Shield did not covered and I found this company through Angie List. Doug was very professional and showed up within 2 hours as promised. They attached new arm, adjusted the tension and door worked perfectly. Cost was below what other providers quoted. I had garage door painted and the paint made door panels bit stuck and garage door was not smooth. I called him and he came today within couple hours, re adjusted the timing, showed where issue was without any charge. Great service and very highly recomeneded.

I found their pricing to be reasonable and their employees to be honest. They were on time, efficient, communicated well and there was no sales pressure. I decided not to repair my old Craftsman opener due to its age and instead had them install a new Liftmaster Opener with 2 remotes. I dealt with the owner in 2013 and an experienced employee in 2014. Both were knowledgable and very nice to work with. I would recommend them highly.

I made the mistake of calling the person on the sticker next to my door opener in the garage before I went to Angie's list!!! The first guy came out and told me the entire motor broken and what I would need to replace it. He was also the guy that has serviced it November. When he gave me the quote it sounded very high and I told him we would look around and give him a call if indeed his charge was reasonable, He told me I would need to give him $79.00 for the call out charge and then lowered it to $50.00!! Including the $50.00 "call out charge" the quote was just shy of $500.00. I went inside and immediately looked on Angie's list and found Doug who does NOT have a call out charge. I gave him the exact information that the previous guy gave me and Doug gave me a quote of almost $200.00 cheaper!! In the end I paid a little more with the other door being serviced and the machine I chose was an upgrade from the one I was previously quoted on. He also gave me a discount because of Angie's list. I did not tell Doug how much I had already been quoted while I was on the phone. Doug not only called me when he was on his way (on time) but finished quickly and when I asked if I could get him water, he said thanks I already have tea in the truck. Really a nice guy and really efficient and what a great service and went the extra mile to make sure I knew how to use it, put the light bulbs in and told me to call when I need to program my husbands car to open the garage door and he would walk him through it!! PERFECT SERVICE!!!!

The owner, Doug came over the same day as I called and diagnosed the problem as a worn sprocket and chain. Gave me a choice of replace or repair. I chose to replace the opener. The service was scheduled for a couple of days later, technician showed up on time, installed the opener, programmed the key pad and one car. He cleaned up the area and was done inside of two hours. Very pleased with this company.

I called Above the Rest based on Angie's list reviews, I was not disappointed. I spoke with Doug about 9 am and he gave a few options for when he could come out. We set a time for between 4-6 PM on the same afternoon I called. He called me about 30 minutes before to let me know and he arrived right on time. He was courteous and professional. My garage door is 20 years old and is showing many signs of metal fatigue. He put the door back on the rails and gave the whole system a tuneup. It won't be too long before I have to replace the entire door and when I do I will be calling Above the Rest to do the job. Thanks Doug.

I called Doug in the morning to schedule an appointment and he indicated he had a time slot open that same afternoon, which I took. Donnie arrived 5 minutes before the 2-3pm arrival window I was given. He showed me the steps I should do monthly to help keep everything in good working order (lubing wheels and other parts), and he adjusted the spring to balance the door. His service got rid of the loud "nails-on-chalkboard" sound that was quite irritating. And now I know how to prevent that from happening in the future, with proper monthly care. It all took less than 30 minutes. Will definitely use for future needs!

I made an appointment for between 8-10am. Ed called a little after 9am to say he was on the way. When he go to my house, the garage door was working perfectly. (Isn't that always the case?!?) Mr. Berlin examined the garage door open and the sensors. He said that the sensors were misaligned and showed me that they were. He then examined the bars and the rollers and found that one of the rollers was sticking. So there were several issues that could have caused my garage door to malfunction. Mr. Berlin took the time to explain the issues to me and how to fix some of them myself. He was efficient, courteous, polite, and knowledgeable. I would recommend him and use him again in a flash.

Had read the good reviews on Angie's list and so chose Above the Rest. Very, very satisfied with the prompt response, same day service, ability to diagnose the problem and repair immediately. Personable and professional service. Totally satisfied and would recommend with confidence.

Contractor arrived as scheduled and performed the work efficiently and expertly. He was professional and courteous and offered suggestions for maintaining the garage door in the future.

Friday evening. 6/20/14, our garage spring broke and we couldn't open the door. I checked Angie's list and Doug Berlin, Above the Rest Garage Doors had excellent reviews so my husband called him around 8 p.m. He spoke to Doug who said he would arrive between 10 and 12 on Saturday. Doug called at 9:45 a.m. To say he was on the way. He rang the bell with shoes in his hand! I told him it was okay since we had tile floors and he said he wouldn't do it at home so he wasn't going to do it in our house. Within minutes he had the door open. He was very friendly and personable. My husband stayed with him in the garage and said they chatted the entire time but Doug just kept working. I think the entire job of changing the springs and just checking the rest of the door took 30 minutes or less. I would definitely call Doug for all future garage door needs and would not hesitate to recommend him.

Doug was great, professional, informative and friendly! We had some previous work completed on the door inclusive of new springs, etc. by another company and felt the door was not opening and closing as smooth as it was prior to the installation. We were told we needed a professional garage door opener with more HP to alleviate the issue. We decided to call Doug for a second opinion. Doug checked our door thoroughly and explained everything he was doing. The issue was found to be paint would adher to itself when it sat closed for a long period of time. He recommended we use candle wax in between the door ridges to stop the sticking! No need for a new opener as ours was more than adequate for our door. I said "yes" to services performed because he really did check the door for balance, the effectiveness of the springs and explained everything he was doing. We will definately call on him again!
