Above the Rest Garage Doors, Inc. is a premier garage door company dedicated to providing you with quality sales, service and installation. We have been serving Central Florida for over 10 years with exemplary customer service and satisfaction.
Description of Work: Doug replaced both door springs, fixed an improperly installed roller, replaced a missing bolt and lubricated the door so it does not squeak anymore. I was almost 30 minutes late but Doug was still there on my arrival. He was quick and efficient in the installation of springs and making all the adjustments to make the door open and close even better than before the spring broke. He was well experienced and even advised of an issue with the bottom panel gap and the possible cost to repair

The service tech showed up prercisely on time and was very polite nd professional. I told him I had been trying to lubricate the rollers on the door with WD-40 but that was all I had been doing to keep the door operating. He serviced the door and then explained everything he had done (tighten screws, lubed rollers and springs, replaced and repaired a metal piece on the main frame that was cracked, etc) and explained to me that the noise I was hearing was a portion of the door that was buckling. He told me the door was probbly good for another year or two but would definitely need replacing at the end of that time. Before he left I showed him a keypad that used to open and close the door from the outside but that hadn't worked in years. He not only got it working again but reprogrmmed a new PIN number into it for me. Needless to say I was thrilled with the service and will definitely call this contractor agsin. I will also be purchasing my new gaarage door from him!
Description of Work: I took advantage of an Angie's List Big Deal and contracted with this company for a maintenance service on my garage door. The door was working but making a heavy metallic noise when it closed. Our house and garage door are 23 years old.

After my wonderful experience with this company, I called the owner to commend him on his employee and advised that his work ethic and performance was outstanding. He took the time to explain everything in detail, did not rush me. He was kind, generous, considerate, educated and extremely knowledgeable about garage doors, and more. Wow, I told Doug I didn't think compnaies existed like his anymore or his tech Manuel. It was truly a wonderful experience as a home owner. I would recommend them to anyone. My outside door opener works, my door is quiet, and my whole experience was just fabulous!!! I can't thank them enough.
Description of Work: I had a garage door tune-up, by this company owned by Doug Berlin. The service tech Manuel Garcia provided the tune up. He adjusted the spring, which was off, added bolts that were broken, tightened everything, balanced the door, adjusted all moving parts and then helped me with my key pad that I thought was broken. He checked and adjusted eveything and lubricated everything....from soup to nuts.

I received an email for a "Big Deal" garage door tune-up service via Angie's list. The contractor was Above The Rest Garage Doors. I called Doug to set up an appointment for the next day. Doug, showed up on time as promised. Not only was he very professional and knowledgeable but had a very pleasant demeanor as well. He diagnosed potential concerns with my garage door which I will eventually need to address but in the interim he serviced my door very efficiently and effectively until I can address those concerns. Excellent quality of work performed and just an overall nice person. I definitely recommend Doug and Above the Rest Garage Doors for any of your garage door concerns!

Doug was very responsive. I called him early in the evening & he was at my house at 8:30 the next morning. After quickly assessing the situation, he determined that he could replace the broken springs in about 20 minutes. He was quick & left no trash behind. He parked on the street rather than my driveway. He removed his shoes before entering my house.

Excellent experience. Doug was on time, professional and did a great job on the install. He made sure that everything was working perfectly and demonstrated how to operate the keypad and the remotes. Very happy with the service and the opener (very quiet!).
Description of Work: I'd moved into a house with a 20-year old opener that had no sensors and a 1/3hp motor. Doug installed a LiftMaster 3/4 hp chain drive opener (with sensors) and a keypad.

The door had been giving trouble for some weeks. It would not open fully despite our fine-tuning the motor in accordance with the maker's instructions, and it made an awful noise. On Sunday evening it finally stopped altogether. I called Doug (company owner) and explained the problem. He said he would come the next morning. He arrived on time. Doug's initial diagnosis was that the door springs needed adjusting. He quoted $65 which I accepted. The springs had been installed 9? years ago when I had re-inforced the door for better wind protection. At that time I do not think that the springs had been adjusted because the door had never kept open by itself, when disconnected, without the aid of a 2 x 4 to keep it up. After the adjustment the door would still not open to our satisfaction and the motor made a grinding noise, which indicated bearing trouble. Of course, the motor was sealed and unrepairable. Doug quoted a belt-driven and a screw-driven opener, telling us that he would not charge the $65 for the spring adjustment as that had not solved the problem. We chose the belt-drive and Doug turned up the next evening as agreed, to suit my convenience. He quickly installed the new opener and tuned in the two remotes. He also instructed us on various aspects of the door's operation. I had forgotten to ask for another remote and an external opener. Doug obligingly delivered those the next day and installed the external remote. The total cost was $395. A couple of evenings later, one of the door springs broke in two. I called Doug and he appeared next morning to check this out. On doing so he noticed that one of the pulley cables was frayed and recommended replacement of the two of them, to which I agreed. In the evening, as arranged, Doug returned with the two new springs and pulley cables and installed and adjusted them accordingly. Additional cost: $189. I am very happy with Doug's work. He has a pleasant demeanor and has been doing this most of his working life. I gave an "A" grade for the price but quite frankly, I am not 100% aware of such matters. It seemed to fall in with what I had paid before (about four or five years ago, plus a bit more for inflation) and I was happy enough with Doug's quotes not to cost the job myself. Of course, these days, as most such equipment is commonly available at competitive prices, the real convenience of employing a professional like Doug, is the absolute convenience of having someone who knows what he is doing to do all the running around and decision-making for you. I remember the last opener we installed, my son spent the best part of a Sunday puzzling out the instructions - plus trips to the hardware store. And we did not know that the springs had to be adjusted! Employing a man like Doug eliminates all the hassle, all the worry, all the heavy-lifting and leaves one with the knowledge that the job was correctly carried out. I highly recommend him.

I called to get a price for a garage door opener install. They gave a competitive price, and I asked if the work could be completed on a certain day, due to my work schedule. They said that it would be no problem. On the day of, the installer called before showing up, installed the garage door opener, cleaned up everything, and left. The whole process took about an hour.

Doug arrived on time. Went straight to work. He was very friendly and answered all my questions. He made sure the wires were out of the way and made sure everything worked fine before he left. He was hired by my contractor, so I do not know the cost. I am sure it was reasonable or my contractor would not have hired Doug. Thank you Doug, it is nice to have a garage door that opens again.

I called during the holiday week and was impressed with how quickly Doug came out to inspect the garage door. He ordered the parts needed and installed them after the holiday. My final cost was less than the initial quote because the parts were less expensive than initially thought - I don't think I've ever had any repair person tell me that. Doug is friendly, professional and I am very happy with the quality of service.

My garage door was opening, and then falling back down 3-4 inches. I called Branch Garage Door first. Their technician arrived on time and proceeded to tell me that the electric motor on the opener was in question. Something about "the brushes on the motor failing to support the weight of the garage door." I'm an electrical engineer. That was a bold-faced lie and I kicked him out. I called Above the Rest. The owner/operator showed up on time. He explained to me that the door was being lifted too high and that's why it was falling back down after it got to the top. He immediately identified loose anchors that attached the opener rail to the wall. He tried to tighten them, but decided to install new ones instead. He adjusted the spring tension and adjusted the height of the door opening. He remedied all the problems for $65. I told them what Branch Garage door said, and we had a big laugh about it. He said he had never had a motor fail in 22 years. I believe him.

They were on time. Their representative (who I believe is the company owner) was very friendly and personable. They did the work quickly and efficiently. They discovered a faulty component in the wall switch and temporarily modified it with a screw. They returned the next day and installed a replacement switch. They initially refused payment until the faulty (but functioning) switch was replaced.
Description of Work: Above the Rest removed an old, non-functioning garage door opener and installed a "top of the line" 3/4 horsepower opener with a battery back up in case of power failure, and several other nice extra features. They also inspected my garage door, lubricated the tracks and rollers, and corrected an issue where the seal on my garage door was not flush with the floor all the way across. For no additional charge, they were nice enough to saw a rusty padlock off my pool screen door. They took the old opener and all debris from the work with them when they left.

Estimated time was "right on the money". The time quoted was the time Doug showed up and also installed the door opener. From the start, Doug seemed to know what he was doing. I showed him what the old door opener was doing (it made a grinding noise and wouldn't open the door). He mentioned it was a gear that had gone bad. This is exactly what I had diagnosed and what I found through research. I asked how easy it was to replace it and the difficulty and pricing was also in the range that I had researched plus installation. This gave me confidence that I was talking with someone who knew. Doug didn't seem to mind that I stayed in the garage for most of the install. He acknowledge my presence and we had a nice conversation. He was very organized with his tools and clean. When running the cables, he was mindful of stapling them to the wood so that they didn't hang loose. Because the model I purchased requires more cables than the old one, he also was mindful of running the top wires and stapling them in a way that it wasn't an eye sore but kept them bundled nicely. When he finished the installation, he explained in detail how to operate the equipment and answered all my questions.
Description of Work: Above the Rest installed a new garage door opener and removed the existing one. They also balanced the garage door to open and closed smoothly. Service was arranged through the Home Depot. Pricing was included in the total amount for the garage door opener.

Our garage door's spring broke on a Friday evening. I called Above the Rest and left a message that night. Mr. Berlin returned the call first thing Saturday morning and was at our house within an hour. He completed the repair promptly and tested it several times, also checking the other parts (like the drive chain) to see if the appeared to be in good shape. It was a very prompt and professional experience.

I called after being referred by a co-worker. They came out the next morning on my schedule. He inspected the door and found that a roller was broken. He told me how much it would be. It was $75 for the service call and $10 for the parts. He replaced the connection between the arm and door and explained that they don't use the part that comes standard because it often breaks. After he fixed it, he oiled all the parts and told me how to maintain the door and where to oil it. He was very knowledgeable about doors. I don't think my garage door has ever been this quiet!! When we move, I plan to have them come out right away and inspect the door to see if there are any issues to fix before they become problems.
Description of Work: They came out to see why the garage door was making so much noise. They quickly found the problem was a broken roller, told me how much it would be, and replaced it in 10 minutes. He also replaced the connection between the arm and the door.
