perfect,the attention to detail for a simple garage door opener install was surprising. as a certified a&p mechanic i was very pleased. wires flattened before run. loops to allow for stretch due to falling debris. called at ~ 2pm. doug the owner showed up at about 3. right as promised.. it was done at 4 pm... this is the sears all everything door opener with battery backup and internet link.. sears said they would get it in july 2, then it did not happen. the next date was july 13. i passed. this has been my first shot with angies list. so far if you read you win... btw, i contacted precision garage door on a weekend, what a farce, was a waste of time for them and the temp service they have.. they only install what they sell... thanks doug.

The garage door and springs were inspected, lubricated and adjusted as needed. It is much quieter now. He told me what I could do myself on a regular basis to keep it moving smoothly and quietly. He didn't have to give me that information and I would have had to spend more money to call him back much sooner so that was a definite plus in my mind. He pointed out that I had a very good door but the automatic opener was the horsepower rating for a single door and I have a double door. He didn't push a new opener but said if I ever want to replace it to give him a call. He put a sticker with his company info by the button in the garage in case I ever want to call him. He was finished quickly and answered any questions I had.He was very professional, no pressure and did a good job.Good company to work with!

Based on the observations I made over the phone regarding the old unit, Doug suggested replacing the nearly 20 year old unit. I agreed since the repair would be more than half the cost of the new garage door opener. Doug was very responsive, following up with me twice to schedule the service (I was out of town). Once scheduled, the technician arrived promptly and had the whole job done in just over an hour. The old unit and packaging was removed and hauled away. The tech explained to me all of the features on the new unit and how to use them. He even showed me how to perform regular PM's to keep everything lubricated and quiet. Even though the LiftMaster 1/2 hp unit installed is "contractor grade" equipment, it is a real value for the quality, features, and durability. A belt drive unit would have been quieter but this chain drive unit is not noisy at all in my opinion. In fact, this new unit is much quieter than the old one. I am very satisified with the responsiveness, price, and quality of products Above The Rest Garage Doors delivers.

There were some problems with getting to my house on time and finishing the repair in a timely manner; however, I liked the technician and the owner, who did not charge me for repairing the sensor because of the lateness of the repair. I think that the work itself was handled expertly, but some problems with communication from the owner to the technician. I would use them again.

Service was prompt, professional, courteous, and thorough. He did an exceptional job at a fair price.

Doug was awesome. He did a great job and was a pleasure to work with. We recently have had a lot of trouble with people we hired and Doug nailed the job. I am not one to usually give reviews but this company is top notch. I found a garage door company for life!

A bit of a crisis situation when my daughter had a problem shutting our automatic garage door. I call Doug - found through Angies list- and he quickly responded and was out to my house within the hour. He assessed what was wrong -a simple plug came loose- which he fixed and noticed a couple of wheels were not rolling which could have led to the motor burning out. He fixed the wheels and provided some maintenance to ensure the door will continue to operate normally. His response, courtesy and knowledge was great. We will call on Doug at Above the Rest Garage Doors in the future. I am not sure about the price since I didn't shop around enough to know if the service price was reasonable but his prompt response was great!

He gave us a whole tune up, tightened and lubricated the springs and it now works. He was prompt and professional.

Best experience I have ever had with a garage door service!

We contacted Above the Rest to install a Craftsman Belt Drive garage door opener I had purchased from Sears. This was a fancy model, with 3/4 HP, Belt drive, new sensors, exterior keypad, and internal control with Temp Sensors. Above the door arrived, we showed them the box, and they set to work. Less than an hour later, our new opener was installed, and the tech took the time to explain the controls, help us set a passcode for the exterior keypad and offered to haul away the old opener. AMAZING service. We couldn't be happier!

I received garage door opener as a gift but needed to get it installed. Looked at Angie's List and saw all the positive comments. Called for an estimate on Friday afternoon which Doug gave me over the phone. I was able to schedule the install for Monday morning. Doug arrived on time and completed the job fast. Estimate was right on.

Doug was FANTASTIC! Timely, professional, quick and gave us options. There is no doubt in my mind he is the only one we will call in the future.

My garage door spring broke. I couldn't get my car out of the garage to go back to work. I called Doug and he told me he would come over as soon as he finished the job he was currently working. He arrived and quickly replaced the garage door springs so I was able to not miss too much work that afternoon. I was so very appreciative that he agreed to come so quickly without an appointment. He is absolutely the BEST!!

Responded quickly to our inquiry regarding our non working garage door opener. The garage door opener was installed quickly, no mess, explained everything in detail on how to operate the opener. We would not call anyone else! Honest, hardworking, and dependable. Now our garage opens like a charm!!!!

Doug, the owner of Above the Rest Garage Doors, was punctual for his appointment that was scheduled on January 25, 2012. I addressed my concerns about the garage door since it would not open at all. I tried using my remote and wall panel unit but the garage door would not open. Doug checked the garage door and stated the rollers needed replacement. I also decided to check on a price for a new garage door opener with new remotes and wall unit. He stated he would check his warehouse and have a price for me before noon that day. Doug did just that. He had a quote for me on a Chamberlain Lift Master. The technician, I believe his name was Jose, came out on January 26, 2012 to service my garage door and to install the new garage door opener. I believe the service was completely done in less than two hours. The work was professionally done. We are pleased with the work that was done. The workmanship, dependability and professionalism accomplished by both Doug and his technician. I would use their services again. I highly recommend Above the Rest Garage Doors to everyone!

The work turned out great. The garage door is working fine. I spent around $200. I could have found someone probably cheaper but I got the job done. I would absolutely recommend them to others.

Doug was great in every respect. He did exactly what we needed done at a great price, very cheerfully, and on time.

I found them off Angie's List. I thought they have taken care of the problem, they didn't and they came right back out to remedy it. Mannie is a nice gentleman.

Doug was fantastic. I called him late on Saturday afternoon and explained my problem. My garage door would open with the opener but wouldn't close. He gave me phone instructions to try about a dozen different things to try to narrow the problem down while he was still on the phone. Nothing worked so he said he'd be down Monday morning. Monday morning, I got a call from him that he was having truck trouble and would be down as soon as could but definitely sometime in the afternoon. He got there about 3 and proceeded to check the door finding some loose wiring on one of the sensors. He tightened it up, then lubricated the rollers and hinges. He also increased the tension on the spring. He even programmed my secondary market remote control to work in about 10 seconds flat. That after I spent about 30 frustrating minutes earlier trying to do it unsuccessfully. Doug is a great guy who does what he says. When it came time to pay he told me his price then took a 10% Angie's List discount off. Call this man if you need anything to do with a garage door. He's fantastic.

Sorry I can't remember exactly how much we spent....but it was extremely reasonable for the service we received!Went above and beyond to not only do the work but explain what he was doing and why. Checked the entire garage door several time to make sure it was working properly and that it was quiet. Also discussed how some garage doors are not properly set so they could actually do harm when closed and something is in the way..who wants to close a garage door to find out it crushed something left in your path...or maybe injured someone! Point is there is just no reason for it to happen with proper care and installation of a door. He said most of the problems come from improper installs on new homes--so the homeowner has no idea there is a problem until something happens. Also helped me get another remote and get it programmed before he left. I have worked with several trades/repair people and this service and value rated at the top. Since I live in neighborhood where all the homes are about the same age and they are just starting to reach the age where garage doors need work, I made sure I told as many of my friends as I could about this service.

The gentleman came out within a day and assessed the problem, knew immediately what was wrong, showed me the issue, explained everything and then fixed it expeditiously. On top of all that he was friendly, courteous, and professional.

In the evening of the "incident", I e-mailed the special Angie's List work request form, describing in detail what had happened... The next morning, got a " Doug Berlin" over the phone... The guy fixed me an appointment for the next 20 minutes... The guy arrived right on-time... Looked at the " thing"... said: " am almost pretty sure what it is"... OK, Doc, that's great! Announced me, before starting the repair, that the "probable cost" would be 65 bucks... I said "sounds good, ok, that's a deal"... The guy got his toolbox, opened the thing, fixed the thing, checked/cleaned all door parts (grease, etc.), as anticipated... Answered all my questions, gave me some tips (I am not a garage door specialist: I usually press the buttons, on-off, that's it! Upon my request, Doug also checked/cleaned (" free of charge, of course" he said) the second (working) garage door... Perfect job! All in all, time spent: one hour, Cost me 65 bucks, as announced, minus 10% Angie's List discount, total $60. Doug is not the type of guy always in a hurry, rushing to leave to the next customer... likes to exchange ideas! That was an experience. I don't want to see him again, of course, but if I get another bug with a garage door, I will not look elsewhere!

His name is Douglas. I called several people that I had found on Angie's List. All of them were great over the phone and tried to help as they could over the phone. Douglas was the only one who was willing to come out for a free estimate. So I tried him first. He came and checked out all the things that I and my handyman friends had done. It was time to change batteries on my remote garage door openers. While it didn't work for me, it worked for him. He checked everything out and was really nice about it. He is about an hour and a half south of me. He doesn't have enough work in this area, but he still came out and didn't charge me anything for coming out. He was really sweet about it. He also gave me a free battery. Everything is working for me now. I have a very outdated and old system in my garage. He was very knowledgeable about it and very willing to give me all the possible options. He gave me tips and pointers as well.

First off, my garage door was bent and crooked. The rollers are old and rusty. It had not been taken care of in over 15 years. I had bought a garage door opener without realizing what a task it would be for me to do it on my own where no previous garage door opener had been. So I got on Angie's List and called three of the top rated door installers. These guys were the cheapest and were also the only one that could do the installation the next day. They were actually ready to do it that day if I wanted. I was told he would be out to install the opener between 1 and 3pm. He called around 12:40 to say he would be there in half an hour. He arrived on time and got to work on the garage door. He told me that my garage door was pretty beat up. That it could give out at any moment or that it could last for years. I believe him. But he told me rather than getting a new door, might as well ride this one until it dies. I agreed with him and he went to work. He bent some stuff. Loosened some things, tightened some things. Lubricated everything and put the garage door opener in like he did it everyday... Never looked at the instructions. And he replaced some of the hardware with his own more dependable pieces he brought with him. Put up the remote pad outside the garage door and had me put in my code. The whole thing took around an hour and half. He might have gotten it done sooner if I hadn't kept bothering him by asking questions. Garage door opens so quietly now, I can't even hear it from inside the car or house. I can't think of anything negative to say or how it could've gone better. This is the only time I have hired someone to do work around the house and felt I got my moneys worth.
