Above The Rest Doors

I would highly recommend Above The Rest Garage Doors. They did a great job.

I contacted Doug on a late afternoon 12/14/2012 and he promptly came out the next morning to repair my garage door that was getting stuck after about opening one foot from the ground. After inspecting the problem, he immediately knew that the springs were the cause of the issue. The problem was that the springs had simply come to the end of their life cycle. He notified me that the springs were not doing their job but the motor was functioning as designed. When the motor detected that it did not get enough assistance from the springs, it automatically (and correctly) stopped pulling the door up. Doug also showed me that the garage springs should be able to hold the garage door up so the door doesn't come crashing down. The garage door WAS crashing down on its own if the latch was removed from the motor's chain mechanism. This was clearly also a safety issue. Note that Doug had honestly also given me the option of repairing the existing spring, but there was no guarantee how long it would hold up. I opted for new springs as the cost was not much more than a repair and safety was a prime issue for me. Unfortunately, Doug did not have the proper springs in his truck and had to reschedule to come back and replace the item. So I rescheduled for him to return on 12/18/2012 to complete the replacement. As the home was vacant and being prepared for rental, I left the door unlocked in the morning and the replacement was applied in the daytime. I did not actually get a chance to check the garage door until the next day. But there was a problem as the new spring was defective. I called Doug around 5:30pm and amazingly, he came by within 15 minutes, replaced it with a brand new one and now the garage works better than it had in the previous 6 years I had lived in the house! And it was a lot quieter! Doug is very professional and honest and extremely responsive. I would definitely hire him again in the future for any garage door issue.

Excellent experience. Service was great from beginning to end. Doug arrived when he said he would and performed all services at a great value compared to other bids we received. He took the time to show us how everything worked and cleaned everything up after he was done. We highly recommend him to everyone.

I had them out for the big deal coupon. He showed up on time and did a good job. They realigned the door and replaced the rollers. Everything went well and I would use them again.

It was great, Doug came out to my house the very next day that I called. He looked at my issue and explained to me what was needed (I needed to replace both springs). He want on to explain more stuff that I really can't remember but I was so grateful that he tried to explain it to me (LOL). He went on to tell me what was needed to be done. He quoted a price that was about $100 less than what I expected to pay. He did not charge for just giving me an estimate (like most companies do nowadays) and he was able to complete the work in less than 45 minutes!

Was by far the most knowledgeable company I called on Angies list. Doug has an excellent attitude and strives to be the best and it is evident from his work. He installed larger springs than were needed and offered a 7 year warranty on the springs. My only caution is the coupon it is only good for the labor not the parts. Doug did explain this to me on the phone before he came out.

Doug, the owner, came to my house the same day I called him to inquire about pricing and gave me a free estimate. After my wife and I thought it over for a couple of weeks, I emailed Doug and he special ordered our garage door. Throughout the ordering process, Doug was very responsive to our questions. As soon as the door arrived, he contacted me and scheduled the installation. On the day of the install, the installer arrived at the end of the time window that Doug had given me. The installer took down the old door and opener and hauled them away at the end of the day. He installed the new door and cleaned up when he was finished. It was a great experience from start to finish, and the prices were better than any other place that I checked, including the big box stores. Also, the price included an Orange County building inspection. When I got estimates from several other contractors, they didn't even mention the need for an inspection, and when I brought it up to them, they said it was a waste of time. Doug beat their prices, even with the added expense of the building permit.

The installation technician arrived on time and completed the installation of two garage door openers in a timely manner. Unfortunately, one opener was defective out of the box. The installer identified the issue and contacted the owner for a replacement unit. The replacement unit arrived quickly and Above the Rest worked with us to minimize any inconvenience for a second trip. One in a million problem from a very reputable manufacturer, certainly no reflection on the installer. Above the Rest handled the situation correctly and timely. Great experience.

The work and the price were excellent. They went above and beyond the work that was originally planned. They even took the time to program my daughter's car to open our garage door.

We called ABOVE THE REST GARAGE DOORS, INC. on a weekend and Doug Berlin immediately returned our telephone call on Monday morning. Doug was at our home within a few hours and explained what had happened to our garage door. He promptly got to work on our problem and it was fix immediately. Doug , also, took the time to explain other helpful hints on maintenance of this particular garage door. Doug is a true professional and we definitely would highly recommend him and use him again in an instant.

I contacted Doug @ Above The Rest Garage Doors for a minor issue adjusting a garage door's spring. He did an outstanding job at it and shared several tips on how to improve performance. Having met and exceeded my expectations, I hired him again to replace the weather strip on that door as well as to install the hardware for another garage door that I needed to make operational. He visited twice and in all cases was punctual, responsible, and reasonable. His work was so satisfactory and his personality likable that I feel compelled to share with anyone I come across needing help with garage doors. Doug is definitely "Above the Rest!"

All in all a great value and a great job. I was so impressed with their service I asked for an estimate for replacement of the openers and doors. Their estimate was extremely reasonable and I have been budgeting to have that service done this fall. Highly recommended!

A really wonderful experience. Doug kindly came early on a Saturday morning to help me out with my garage door that was no longer opening. He kindly replaced the springs, a hinge, and performed a general once-over of the whole door to make sure everything was working well. DOug kindly put up with talking with me the entire time that he was performing the work. I hope that I didn't slow him down too much. Doug gave me some great advice going forward. I did do my leg work prior to employing Doug to do the work. I called a few Angie's List providers, and Doug's price was very competitive as well.

Had just moved into the house a month or so earlier. Garage door was working okay, but was exhibiting some irregular behaviors (e.g would start to close, then go back up, etc.) We also wanted to change pad codes, program garage opener features in our vehicles, etc. Doug showed up on time, very professional. He went through a full inspection of both our doors, explained good maintenance process for us to follow, replaced light bulbs in the overhead openers, re/programmed key pads, portable remotes, and in-vehicle garage opener features. Excellent service and great experience.

I got a few estimates over the phone and Doug gave me the best estimate plus was running a 10% off coupon. He came out to the house at scheduled time and honored the over the phone quote to replace 2 broken springs. I was expecting to pay around his estimate within reason and I was relived no hidden service charges or unexpected runup costs. He was very courteous and detailed orientated. He re-attached my garage door opener to the wall,reset my p/w code and showed me how to do it on my own, tested the light sockets, gave me maintenance tips and what problems to look out for, all above what was expected. Best of all he is dog friendly!!

Called Doug and set up and appointment over the phone. Doug was able to set up an appointment within three days of our call. He showed up as promised, with all the equipment needed and did the replacement within an hour with no mess. He also fixed the cables on the door. Great Job!
