South Wind Pools

South Wind Pools has worked on a few different projects for our resort. We have utilized them for installing a hot tub, pool resurfacing as well as assisting in bring our pools up to code compliance. They are fairly priced and will not try to scam you and they were even able to work with me on custom made items to assist in compliance issues. We will continue to use them when the need arises.

This was the worst experience with a contractor I have ever had!! The owner is rarely in town so uses this as an excuse to put off doing work. They would say I will be there tomorrow at 2 and never show up. The pool leaks in several places. Have had to take the waterfalls apart and repair slabs underneath because design was horrible. It has been over a year of dealing with these incompetent people and we are finally bringing in someone else to fix the leaks and design a waterfall that looks right. They just threw rocks up on the slab without much concern for how it looked. Please do not hire this company. I have waited to write this review in hopes that the work might someday be finished but they will never finish this project. If you are a woman they will treat you like you have no idea what you are talking about. I cannot save myself from the many days I've lost waiting around for workers that will never show or the blatant lies to my face but hopefully I can save someone else the aggravation of dealing with this horrible company.

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had working with a contractor! On the positive side, the price seemed very reasonable which was verified by other contractors. Also the entire project finally came together nicely - although it took 5 months rather than the quoted 6 weeks. However, the entire project was extremely poorly managed and terribly frustrating. For example, the workers rarely showed up and were very unproductive when they did show up. They also left garbage such as t-shirts, broken glass, extra concrete and beer bottles for us to regularly clean up. I observed the team of workers regularly repeating the same work because they had little or no direction. I insisted that we insert a completion deadline in the contract but failed to include any consequences for not meeting the deadline (my mistake). We agreed that the project would begin by November and be completed December 1st. As the project rolled through December, January, February, March I grew increasingly upset. I constantly tried to call Bob and team and could tell they were avoiding my calls and rarely returning my messages. They constantly had excuses about why people couldn't show up. At one point they started re-using fake excuses because different people had "heart problems" that interrupted the project. At another point Bob and his wife were both explaining to me why it was the other one's fault - I really don't want to hear any of this. I want to get the project done! it was not until I threatened legal action that they finally showed up more consistently to finish the project. This is an extremely stressful process that I would not want to be a part of and I recommend that others heed to my warning and find another company to complete their pool/decking project.

Everything went fine, except they are apparently spread too thin with their work crews & they did not allow time for a well-known annual event which they say made them get further behind. This pushed the finish date even further. Finish date was supposed to be Sept 15th, 2012 but they didn't even start 'til Sept 17th. Start to finish had a 4-week time-line. Today is Oct 29th, finishing is now scheduled for Nov 1st. We have renters coming in same date so how can we even test the pool before they arrive? Not happy.
