I had an electrical fire in April 2018. Check Electric was fantastic on getting to the scene quickly- 2 permits pulled- emergency and other work. They quickly repaired outside panel sent two bills. What I didn't expect is they didn't fix the entire house! There was a sub panel inside the house that effected one main wall in my living area and two of the rooms I rent out. Because they didn't bid the whole job- my insurance which I had to wait 90 days to receive even ONE CENT- now refused to pay for the remainder of the house unless it was completely fixed. So basically had to pay off Check- before the job was done. Fire them- hire another as they wouldn't finish the job unless I paid 100% of the proposal. They refused to let the permit go- which I paid for- until they were paid. Now I have had to pay another contractor- pay them up front also to get job finished. Work on sub panel is being done today- Aug 29th (fire was Apr 9th). The entire house was out of code but that is not my fault. All was working and I have been paying for insurance for almost 20 years. I lost 4 months worth of rent on one room and 2 on the other- for an astronomical price. New contractor almost 1/2 what Check Electric wanted up front- had they bid the whole job I would have money from my insurance now and not have to pay out of pocket. The price listed below is only for part of the job- they wanted even more to finish the inside of the house.
