This review is for anyone who owns a home in the Florida Keys, looking to install tile and stone work around their property. I don?t write many reviews, and usually, if I do, it is to warn people off an individual or business who have fallen short of the standard expected. So it is a rare pleasure to write a really good review. Most of us in the Keys are faced with difficulties finding, reliable and competent tradespeople in whatever trade. Many of the better people work through Contractors, but this comes at a price of premium rates, as the contractor creams off margin from the labour of installers and labourers working at half the charge out price. Reference this review for a rainy day. Jerzy Klimowicz Cell 773 414 2569 ? yes that?s a Chicago cell, but he?s living and working in Key Largo. StoneTileExpert.com installslate@yahoo.com majki3211@gmail.com Our project involved fitting approximately 1100 sq feet of rectified tile. Our property is quirky, with uneven floors, some ¼?? rises, and the need to take up approximately 400 sq feet of old porous tile. So all in all there was the need for a thick, what I have since learned as ?mud-set?. This needed to be deeply trowelled with a ½?? comb trowel and use of suitable bonding agent to get a good fix of the quick-set. The correct amount of mud also ensured that the tricky to work with rectified ceramic tiles had little or no hinging and unevenness between the closely butted tiles. We were aiming to have the absolute minimum of grout lines also of less than 1/8th?? With triangular shaped rooms, the angles also meant there would be many cuts, and we elected to go for base boards cut from the matching rectified tiles. You can see our finished project on KeyLargoHolidayRental.com after we have uploaded the new photos, or on homeaway.co.uk #17772 or we are searchable on tripadvisor & Flipkey under #4299555 What made Jerzy special and the reason for the review is as follows : The workmanship and attention to detail was exceptional throughout. There were lots of little details like adjustments in door trims etc that were not too much trouble. He priced the project at a rate that was 50% of the most expensive contractor who tendered. Other direct installers valued the job at between -30% & +60% of what we paid. However, it was his commitment to our aims and his personable and attentive nature and professionalism that won us over at the tendering stage. The guy had a trapped nerve in his neck and was under the doctor, yet he turned out on time, without fail throughout the project. Not only that, but his work ethic was 200% throughout. He knew we had a timeline, and he ensured that the job was on track throughout, even working Thanksgiving morning and an odd Saturday morning along the way. He was honest and trustworthy, we left some valuables around the place, no problems there. And whilst he took some interim payments once he was on job, he declined an advance deposit upfront, and accepted the main final payment only at the end of the work when we were happy with the job. A Polish immigrant, he?s extremely hardworking, honest and conscientious, a practising Christian through the local Baptist Church and we cannot recommend him highly enough. I suppose this glowing review reflects the fact we have so often been disappointed in the past by local tradespeople in the Florida Keys that we are simply knocked over to find someone good and true and feel it?s right and fair that he should receive the recognition and support he deserves.
