Emergency Services Offered
Services we offer
Sales and Service of air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, ice and exhaust equipment. 24 hours/7 days a week. Immediate service and no answering service.
Prompt reliable professional service. Excellent communication from the office staff, met all expectations, wasn't pressured to buy any service plans or extras unrelated to the current service call. I've used them twice in the last 20 years and they have been some of the best to work with. For those who whine about high a/c service fees, I have two realities for you. 1. You pay for what you get. You want cheap? You'll get cheap. 2. A/C work is expensive. It's a fact of life. Like doctors and lawyers. If we could do the work ourselves, we would. Subzero is not the only a/c company I recommend, but it is in the top two in this area.

Fire hazard and poor workmanship. I Contactedaaa subzero in early March to geta new air handler and new duct work installed. The tech/ installers came out to install and seemed to have no idea what they were doing. They wanted to replace all existing duct work with 6" flex duct that had only an R4 value. After telling the guys how to do there job and expecting the same or better quality ducting I realized that the installers had no idea what they were doing they spliced R6 with R4 flex duct, used brought boots that were smaller than existing, used non metallic duct tape, used no cable ties, used no mastic around collars at boots, they may have used collars at the plenum but just stuffed a few ducts into the plenum box allowing for no airflow. They used the wrong size Y for splitting a 10" duct into two 8" ducts. Some boots were not even hooked up in turn cooling the attic. To top it all off they tried to leave with out reinstalling the float switch at the drain line or the pan when I insisted they replace that they be grudgingly did except they didn't even hook them up! They just shoved the wires in the air handler. Worst of all the tech doing the installation incorrectly wired the heater in the air handler. He used #10 stranded wire instead of a # 8 the amount of amps drawn through those wires would have created a fire! Another company came into to repair all of the terrible work that was done by AAA sub zero and said it was the worst work they have ever seen..

We strive to deliver professional and courteous service each and every time. Clearly, we fell far short of our goals with [Member name removed]. We were aware that there was a problem with the duct installation in April. When we left off with [Member name removed], he was traveling and going to contact us when he returned so we could correct the issues with the installation. Obviously and understandably, [Member name removed] lost faith in our abilities and called in another company. About the time that this installation took place, we realized that we had a major problem with two of our mechanics. We discovered that these two mechanics had been involved with the theft of job materials, solicitation of our customers for "side work," tool and equipment theft. With regards to [Member name removed]'s installation; at the beginning of the job, we ordered and provided to the mechanics the correct R factor ducts, properly sized boots, mastic, cable ties and other job materials needed for the correct work to be done. Unfortunately, most of those materials never made it to the job. These mechanics are no longer employed by us. We have a customer base of over 1400 customers. Over 350 of those customers hold Service Agreements with us. We understand that it is human nature that most satisfied customers do not leave reviews. However, we also understand that if we routinely performed work like we did for [Member name removed] for all our accounts, we would not remain in business very long. And we have been in business in the Upper Keys for 26 years. We thank [Member name removed] for his review, even though we are smarting from this very public thrashing. We are working with [Member name removed] to compensate him for the cost of hiring another HVAC company. On a positive note, we are doing a better job of employee oversight. The bottom line here is that we'll admit if we do wrong - and strive to make it right with our customers.

" On Monday, February 15, 2015, my air conditioner was not cooling. The temperature in my home was 85 degrees. I called two air conditioning companies, Houston Air and Keys Mechanical. Both companies could not come to my house until the end of the week. When I called AAA Sub-Zero, they were able to schedule me for the same day. And they fixed my problem that same day. Needless to say, this is the company that I will call first whenever I need service again."

There is a reason why we categorically decline to install or work on customer supplied parts/equipment. This review is a perfect example of why we do not work on equipment when a customer has found the parts (usually from a website with low prices). We declined this work the first time the customer called us for service. Persuaded by the customer’s next phone call, we agreed to work on the equipment. Our mechanic attempted to install the compressor and jerry rig it, but was unsuccessful. The customer supplied compressor was the wrong size for the unit. This is why the equipment never cooled properly. We were unable to refund any money to the customer because there was no money to return. We charged the customer $510. Our regular refrigeration rate is $125/hour. Our mechanic spent over 12 hours on this job over a three day period. There was no money to refund because this job was a complete loss for us – a loss of time, a loss of money, and a loss of customer goodwill. We did not promise to bring a check because we lost money on this job. If we had made a mistake, we would have absorbed the loss and moved on.

Expensive! did not provide an estimate and charged over $1500 to change a couple of $15 capacitors and recharge freon... Blamed the people who did the wiring of the unit... Turns out they installed the unit in 2007. I had an independent AC co look at the estimate and they could not believe how much I was charged... Total Ripp Off Artists! Charged over 1500 for a 500 dollar job....

We are glad that you let us know about your issues and apologize for the delay in posting a response. Our standard business practice is to provide an estimate before work is complete. The fish were biting the Saturday this service call was placed and Mr L. did not want to wait around for our estimate. A search of our records reflect that we did not install the unit in 2007. The $1500 charge was not for "couple of $15 capacitors," but rather a relay controller, a hard start kit, 3 capacitors and freon plus labor. We even waived our normal $98 diagnostic fee. We responded on the weekend, the same day the service call was placed. That type of quick response on a weekend is expensive. No one likes to pay large amounts of money to fix broken equipment, but everyone likes to stay cool. We are a service company and stay in business by keeping our customers happy. Thanks for the feedback.

It is true that we MISTAKENLY charged Mr [removed member name]'s credit card for $16,000. However, this was an honest case of fat fingers hitting the zero key one time too many. The error was corrected the next day, when we reconciled the days charges receipts with sales receipts. Mr. [removed member name]'s money was refunded immediately. At no time did Visa ever prosecute AAA Sub-Zero. As for the repair, the estimate for the repair was given before the work commenced. Mr. [removed member name]approved the repair before the work started. As with any customer, Mr. [removed member name]was free to obtain other estimates. He choose to authorize the work. He provided us with his credit card number to pay for the repair. In addition to the refrigerator repair, we provided a quote on the a/c system. That is not criminal, that is a good business practice. Naturally, we are not happy to have Mr. [removed member name]so dissatisfied. We are a service business. We stay in business by keeping our customers happy, satisfied, and keeping their mechanical systems in good operating condition. Thank you for the chance to address the issues raised by Mr. [removed member name].
