NITRO SOUND

I went and met with the owner Tom (as well as the son later on, also Tom) and discussed putting a sound system in my car that was better than the stock system I purchase the car with. He looked up my car make model etc and said it'd need 4 door speakers. I asked what brand he would use and he said Pioneer (ok they are good). He quoted me $800. He also told me he could have one of the guys drop me off while my car was being worked on at the house I was staying at that was just 2 miles away from his shop. So I scheduled a date for the following Saturday. I brought the vehicle in and met with the owner Tom again and we sat down and he said ok so we are going to use Alpine speakers. To which I replied, you said you were going to use Pioneer speakers. He then said well I don't have those in stock so we've gotta use Alpine. to which I said, uh ok. Are they comparable in quality? He replied "Uh...yeah....sort of. I mean yeah they are." Ooooooooookay. So I turned over the keys. I asked for the ride to the house I was staying at and he then said well I won't be able to get you a ride back for about 2 hours. So I would have to wait in the crappy lobby for 2 hours? Screw it. I walked home the 2 freaking miles. He gave me a call about 6 hours later saying, "Well your car has 2 front tweeters so we need to replace those too. So it'll cost about $900 instead of $800. I gotta make something off the labor." You'd think he would have realized this when he looked up the model information but apparently not. Oooookay. Finally at about 5 he gave me a call to tell me it was done and sounded great. Awesome. I had a friend drive me over to pick it up as they once again said they couldn't pick me up. I paid the $900 and got in my car happy to listen to my new system. Only problem is it sounded like crap. I could turn up the volume but there was no richness to the sound. At all. Not depth to it. It sounded worse than my stock system. I mean it was bad. And the door was rattling. And my cigarette lighter wasn't working. So I called the shop and spoke with the son Tom who said well we didn't detach the cigarette lighter and the system sounds great so I don't know whats wrong with you. I guess you can bring it back in but we have to make $45/hour to tweak it. To which I replied, I just paid $900 that I've been saving for MONTHS. He said, That's nothing. We get clients who spent thousands. - Are you freaking kidding me?! I was so p***** I went home crying. A year later I went to a different Audio place. They were fantastic. After they redid the sound system they told me the cigarette lighter WAS unplugged so they could use the fuse for something else. Apparently they also used the lowest grade cheap Alpine speakers (hence why they blew within a month of my owning them) and they made such a mess of the wires behind the dash that they must have used 10 rolls of electrical tape to just group everything together. Horrible. Apparently I'm not the only one to suffer from Nitro Sound. I've been hearing of lots of people going through the same thing. I warn all who are interested. DO NOT USE THEM. You will forever regret it.

My old car radio was on it's last legs. It hummed and buzzed. This is in a 98 Jeep so I didn't want to spend a bunch of money but really enjoy listening to music and news. I found Nitro Sound on the internet, and it was fairly close to my home so I decided to stop by. I spoke with Tom Sr. the owner who sat in the car and listened to my radio. He suggested he bring out his service guy which he did. After some discussion it was decided that they remove the radio and see if a repair was possible. Well a repair was possible but Tom Sr suggested even though it could be repaired and it would be cheaper then a new radio the likelihood that another repair after 10+ years of service would not be in my best interest. I had to agree it would be bad money after good. So Tom suggested a simple radio no frills but did come with a USB and some other stuff for cell phone etc. I'm to understand this is common stuff in today's radio. Even a CD was included! I made an appointment to have it installed and frankly I could not be happier. I do have a MP-3 player that I find can connect directly to the radio and makes possible playing my tunes through the radio. This is music heaven... The job was quick, clean, and looks great on the dash. It was right on the price quoted, with no nonsense. So nice to do business with pro's and wonderful business people.
