CUSTOM WINDOW DECOR

We ordered 7 motorized shades for our family room and breakfast area. Over the course of 1 1/2 years, we had many issues after the shades were installed. Each time we had an issue, the owner, Dan Schoenman, sent his installer, who was pleasant & professional, to reinstall new shades. When the last issue arose — buckling on the valance above the shade — Dan sent me a couple of nasty texts that said he was tired of my “b*******” and refused to come back to our. home since he had already been here “billions of times.” His texts were so rude and unprofessional that I called Hunter Douglas Customer Service to alert them. I also provided them with copies of his nasty texts. I would not want this man to be a representative of any company! Hunter Douglas took care of me, and the issue was resolved by another dealer in my area. I agree with the other comments on this website that said Dan was more interested in collecting his money than in providing outstanding customer service.

If I could turn back the clock, I would not hire Custom Window Decor again. My overall impression is that the company is more interested in collecting its fees than satisfying its customers. I signed the contract to have plantation shutters installed in my home on May 4, with the promise that the work would be completed within two weeks, or at the outside three weeks. The shutters were hung in two tranches, the work finally completed on June 24, 2015 ? a much longer time than promised! During this waiting period, I found Custom Window Decor an unresponsive partner. My repeated phone calls, texts, and emails were answered only after long delays. When I asked for status updates, I was told that the shutters would arrive with 48 hours. In fact, I heard that statement many times before the installation was completed. The company made me feel that only my checkbook was important. When the first tranche of shutters were hung, the installer did a mediocre job. To the company?s credit, they returned and fixed the problems, and the second installation went more smoothly. However, the company DEMANDED to be paid immediately after the last shutter was in place, late in the afternoon of June 24. When I explained that I need time to examine the quality of the work, in case there were more problems to be found, the owner of the company became insulting. Less than 24 hours later, I paid the balance of the charge. Soon after, I received an email from the company stating that I was never to contact them again and that they would have nothing more to do with me. I paid the company more than $8,500 for its work, with the expectation that the company would honor its contractual obligations. I?ve worked with many small businesses but have never been told that a company would not honor its warranty work. I tried to resolve the issue through the BBB, since the company refused to speak with me, but my efforts failed. The company told the BBB not to contact them. Honestly, what kind of company demands payment immediately upon conclusion of the work? What kind of company refuses to honor its warranty? What kind of company refuses to accept ongoing contact with a customer? Not the kind of company I would want to hire.

BEWARE :TERRIBLE COMPANY. They are on their fourth business name since 2003 ( public information on Florida Division of Corporations Web Page). They are licensed only as interior decorators and DO NOT have a contractors license of any kind so beware. Read all reviews on Yelp, White Pages, BBB, their face book page etc . We are not the first negative reviews. READ ALL REVIEWS BEFORE HIRING THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY. When they perform their terrible work they will respond by posting the customer is hard to deal with and threaten to sue you etc etc.A good company will NEVER respond by blaming the customer but they do all the time just read their responses. They also threaten to sue if you post negative responces when they refuse to help you. We have proof of everything. Since being one of the first people to ever post a responce now all of a sudden they have more ( Why after ours ?).

So far I am very happy with Custom Window Decor though I haven't got any product yet since they are supposed to be putting shutters. I was very pleased because they are professional and competitive.

It went very well. They were very professional. They delivered a very good product. There was really no problem with the merchandise. It was problem-free.

Dan and Jake worked very well together. They are methodical installers of window treatments. Their showroom in Jupiter, Florida has a full line of Hunter Douglas window treatments. It is neat as a pin which was not the case when I went to other window treatment showrooms for pricing and technical knowledge. The vehicle, a van, that they travel in has not only enough room to bring the inventory, but also very neatly arranged equipment you would expect to see in a factory to actually do the installation. Like neatness. It tells me a lot about their organization skills and temperament. They explained to me the entire process and the amount of time it would take was spot on. Dan and Jake took into consideration the proper spacing to account for the space needed for the window and door knobs and locks. Left and right draw strings were installed with forethought. They knew the questions I would have been wise to have asked, but didn't. So they anticipated what I should be asking and provided the answers anyway! Wow! At the conclusion of their work, Dan and Jake left the home as neat as could be. They encouraged me to call if I had absolutely any questions or issues. I had none, but called anyway, months later to do a few additional window openings that I initially was uncertain about doing. Who else would I call? Dan and Jake own the company and looked at my project like it was their own home. They are located in Jupiter, Florida. But if your project is anywhere in the area of the east coast of South Florida, I highly recommend Custom Window Decor.

HORRIBLE INSTALLATION, HORRIBLE BUSINESS, NON EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE.This is our terrible experience: The two owners are rude and hang up on you once they get their money. One of the owners uses a alias name (JAKE) not his real name( GEORGE). The business has changed names and or addresses 4 times since 2003( 1.Custom Window Décor INC 2. Jake Arthur Design 3. Jake and Co Support Coordination Inc 4. Once again back to Custom Window Décor But without the inc.) This is all public information at Florida Division Of Corporations. The trim for the shutters was held in place by caulking only that fell off in a couple days. We have pictures and video of the horrible job.The business only has a interior decorator license not any other license to install trim etc that is why thier installation looks horrible. We read the other customer reviews on Google, Better Business Bureau, Their Facebook page, Yellow Pages and the Florida Division Of Corporations. There we saw how many times they have performed horrible work and how they have treated customers when their customers have had issues. We also saw that we are not the only customers that have major complaints.We are shocked how they have responded to customers when they have issues and or problems.They are the rudest company we have ever dealt with. Once they receive your money and finish their awful installation they will not deal with you at all. They have threatened to sue us if we post any negative reviews about their business. When we told them we were filing a complaint with the BBB they emailed us and we QUOTE : The last people that also filed a complaint were sued for $20,000 and had to pay. We had 2 installers come over to see what can be done with the horrible looking shutters since custom window décor wont even talk to us or when we send a email they respond by telling us we will be sued.The two installers told us the same : shutters were installed wrong, attachment screws are wrong and in the wrong place. We were also told the shutters are not safe due to being installed wrong. They have a F rating with the BBB. One of the owners uses a nick name not his real name. The shutter company only deals with the installers so they won't even help you at all. Our builder or any of their employees never heard of this company until we showed them their terrible work but believe us they know them now. Please read other reviews form other dissatisfied customers. They respond by making the customer out to be the bad person to cover up there terrible company. We hired the owner who claims he is a interior decorator to help us pick colors/patterns for a custom sofa at Bassett Furniture .The Bassett designer had many different color patterns to pick from was so frustrated with him and actually walked away because he picked steer hide patterns ( really near the ocean). We paid him and sent him away. We would have not paid him but the shutters were not installed yet. We guess he likes steers but we do not. BBB has them at the well deserved F rating. When I called the BBB i was told any company is rated from cunsumer reviews only not by any business subscription so more lies from a F rated business. It is very untrue that BBB gives all companies a F rating. Why did This horrible company had a D- rating from other dissatisfied customers until our review. Now they have the very well deserved F rating. ? We have looked at many reviews for many other companies which have ratings from A to F. BBB is where people should look before hiring any business and we wish we would have PLEASE READ ALL REVIEWS on all the different web pages there you will read how many customers have the same complaints we do. You will also read how Dan and George give the same response every time to customers complaints. They make the customers out to be difficult or even they should have purchased better quality window treatments etc. The next review sounds like a desperate business that posts about their own business. It went great; they were reasonably priced. The salesman that came out had great ideas that I went ahead and incorporated into mine. I wanted the real wood; every other provider I had come out did not want me to use the real wood, but Custom Window Decor found a way for this to be possible with a good price. I would recommend to anyone.

A very good friend referred Custom Window Decor. Dan Schoenman Co-Owner of the Company was prompt in returning my phone call and was on time for all of our appointments. He came to my home and spent a lot of time helping me select just the right window treatments to compliment my home decor. Installation was fast and tidy. The price was right and the entire experience was above and beyond what I had expected. I highly recommend this company.
