They had to order parts and came back the next day to replace the Controller Unit and 2 dampers. The system works great now and the house is much cooler, or warmer depending on the season.
Description of Work: Evaluated HVAC system to determine why the house wasn't warm and the unit not heating. He went through the entire system and found the problem with burnt out damper units.

We typically shop around and get several estimates before deciding on a company but this was the first time we went with the first company we met with. Tracy came by the house to give us an estimate and was incredibly detailed and patient. English is my mothers second language but Tracy was very patient and made sure he answered all her questions. The technicians were professional, prompt, and did a great job. I would highly recommend them. Great company, great people!!

This is the second time I have had this company out to work on my a/c unit. The first time I felt like I was treated fairly and the technician came out the same day I called which was nice since it was still summer and my a/c was not working. So when my a/c quit working again 6 months later I called them up again, and again they were able to come right away. This time I was told my thermostats was the issue and it needed to be replaced. The technician showed me their line of products that I thought was kind of pricey but never actually pricing thermostats before I took his word when he told me that they were fairly priced and better quality than what I would find in any home improvement store. I was given a discounted price of $198 if I agreed to have the company come back out to service my a/c twice more this year and they also would wave the fee for the technician coming out this time. The technician also said that most thermostats need to be programed by a professional so i wouldn't mess up the a/c motors. Never having my unit cleaned before and knowing that it probably needed it I agreed to the discounted price of $387. After I agreed to the service and the fees I learned that the two times they would be coming out that it didn't cover cleaning the coils. A few weeks later I was in home depot and you can imagine my discuss when I saw the same brand thermostat that I bought with the same exact features for $69 and the same thermostat that they tried to sell me for over $300 was only $149. Don't forget that I was given a discounted price since I agreed to have the company come back out two more times. I contacted the sales manager who told me that the ones I saw were a consumer grade thermostat not a professional grade that I got a fair price and actually with waiving the install fee he probably only made about "$10" on the job that the technician did. At this point I felt like I have been lied too twice. Once by the technician who sold me the thermostat and now by the sales manager. I called my uncle who ownes his own heating and air company in Tennessee and explained to him what was done. I gave him the model number and brand of the thermostat and he confirmed that the thermostat was about a $70 thermostat and the markup for the install should have been around $30-$35 not $130. I also told him about the two cleanings that were also apart of the service and he said for the price they are charging it should include cleaning the coils at least once. I am sure that if I have them out to clean and check my unit they will tell me the coils need to be cleaned and that would be another charge. I do not feel as if I was treated fairly and that I was blatantly lied too because I trusted that a company that I found on Angie's list would have better business morals. I do not want the Waychoff's heating and air back to my house and would like to be refunded the money I was charged for the two cleanings that have not yet been scheduled.
Description of Work: I had waychoff's heating and air out to figure out why my a/c unit was not working correctly. I was told that my thermostat was not working correctly and need to be replaced. This is the second time I have had this company out and the issues with the air conditioner has been fixed both times.

I am sorry you feel that $198 is too much for a thermostat that you seen in Home Depot for $149. Our price does include the labor to install it. We do have cost related to driving to your home and diagnosing your system and installing a thermostat. We have very competitive prices. If you called around to other Ac companies you will find out that $198 for that thermostat would be the cheapest price you would find. Because you bought the annual maintenance agreement for $189 which includes 2 more visits (we do clean the condenser coils with every visit) we gave you a discounted price. The $198 for the thermostat covered the part and labor to install it and yes it needs to be programmed properly by a technician. We go out to service calls weekly due to a homeowner trying to install their own thermostat. It is correct that if you install your thermostat incorrectly you will burn up your transformer, which in turn will cost a lot more than if we would have installed your thermostat for the extremely low price of $198. I don't know what else could have been done for you to be satisfied. I will stand behind the price of $198 as one of the lowest prices you will be able to find for someone to come to your home, diagnose your system and install a thermostat. We have refunded your $189 for the maintenance you purchased, and hope you find a company that can satisfy your needs with your unrealistic pricing expectations.

1/3/13 Billy, a supervisor, and Joe a technician came out to address the concerns I deliniated in my previous post. They found that the outside coils were not properly cleaned and that some wiring in the air handler was not correct. They corrected the problems in short order and now both my a/c and heater function properly. I regret that they had to come out to do what should have been done on the 12/08/12 visit, but I do commend Waychoff's for standing behind their work and taking care of the problem at no additional charge.
Description of Work: See my previous post on Waychoff's. Today they cleaned the outside coils and corrected some wiring so that both my heater and airconditioner work.

Description of Work: June 2012 Waychoff's replaced the capacitor on one of my a/c units and charged me $327. I then purchased their service contract at a dicounted rate of $268 for 2 units which includes semi-annual servicing of the units. 12/08/12 Steve came out and performed the semi-annual service. Steve told me the capacitor was okay but weak and suggested I change it. When I told him it was just replaced by his company in June he called the boss to determine warranty. Turns out the part is warranted for one year, but labor is only warranted for 30 days. He said he would put in a new capacitor for $85. I declined. At 2AM this morning I turned on my heater and it blew out cold (air conditioned) air. Yes it was set to heat. The only way I could get somewhat warm air was to set the thermostat to "emergency heat" but it was tepid at best. Trying to be considerate I called at 8:30am 12/23/12 to request service. I received a recorded message like "our office will be closed Sunday December 23rd through Tuesday December 25th for Christmas. Please leave a message and all calls will be returned Wednesday morning." Their website clearly states "Emergency Service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year" Although everyone I have spoken with over the last 6 months has been polite and technicians have arrived as promised I feel there service has been expensive, warranty is very poor, and they do not live up to their promise of 24/365 service. I will find another a/c repair service unless there is some drastic improvements in response to this post.

We purchased a coupon from Angie's List for $99.00 for an A/C system check which was originally $199.00 from Waychoff's. This was scheduled at a time convenient to us and on a Saturday! Customer Service was efficient and very polite when we scheduled the appointment and our service person Jason was prompt, polite and very informative. He meticulously reviewed our system and found a defective capacitor that was quickly replaced. Although he was not sure whether this Angie's list deal covered 1 or 2 visits, Jason contacted his office to clarify the situation for us (the service was for 2 visits). I felt that he was the epitome of good customer service; he kept us apprised of his progress and findings and really did everything possible to make sure the system was completely checked out and that we were satisfied. I am a Waychoff's customer for life...! Jason was a enthusiastic and amiable individual who was very knowledgeable. It was refreshing to interact with such an upbeat representative who clearly loved his job and seemed very proud of his affiliation with Waychoff's! Thank you for the very positive experience!

I initially called another Angie's List company the evening before, and they failed to show or call. I call Waychoff's first thing this morning. Jason, a SUPER pleasant and professional young man responded promptly, took the face off of the AC air handler and explained to me how it worked and why the fan expires. I am now enjoying air conditioning again! (In Florida, in August, after an AWFUL night!) I will sign up for Waychoff's maintenance agreement soon. Can not say enough about the responsive and professional and knowledgeable service.

Waychoff's did a great job from start to finish. I was very pleased with Waychoff's professionalism, punctuality, and quality of work. I called Waychoff's for a second opinion on another A/C servicer's diagnosis; Waychoff arrived in less than an hour, confirmed what the first servicer had diagnosed and charged me only $36 for the second opinion evaluation. The Waychoff's sales manager, Leon Granger, prepared and printed three estimates for A/C system replacement while at my home using his mobile laptop and printer, which I thought was great...he was very prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and did not try to "hard sell" me on work that needed to be done. After I made my decision, Leon scheduled his crew to install the very next day. His crew showed up as scheduled the next morning; the crew was polite, efficient and finished the work within the 6 hours Leon had originally estimated, which I thought was great given that my repair was a complete system replacement. His crew removed my old unit and did a nice job cleaning up after themselves. The unit that they installed is great...quiet, more efficient, cools my house much faster than my old unit. I highly recommend Waychoff.

We received an appointment date for a day after we first called. The office called before the technician arrived and the tech arrived on time. He was professional and courteous. He answered all of my questions and spent more than two hours indoors (in the attic) and outside in the heat, working up quite a sweat doing so. I was very satisfied with this service and signed up with them for regular air/heat maintenance. Readers should note that the fee above is a yearly fee; Waychoff's comes out twice per year to check and maintain the A/C system for this price and we have two compressors and blowers.

Came home to a failed A/C unit on the evening of the 3rd. I called Waychoff's and they stated they could have someone out to my house on the 4th for no extra charge. The technician called the morning of the 4th and told us he had a cancellation and could come over earlier. He arrived and came in to check the thermostat and the air handler. He had covers for his shoes that he placed on every time he came into our house which I thought was a nice touch. He identified the problem with the unit as a bad capacitator and explained to me how this could happen. He made some other recommendations and explained the pros and cons of each to me. We had him add a capacitator and a hard start as he had all the parts on the van. Our A/C unit was back online within an hour of him being onsite! We were very pleased with the knowledge, punctuality and professionalism of the technician. We would definitely recommend Waychoff's and would use them again!

In 2010 I bought an air-conditioning system for the house from them. I got semi-angle inspection and service with that. So they came this August for their second maintenance. Other people whom I got estimate had just increased the air capacity. I had couple of different air-conditioners but Waychoff’s actually gave how air I was getting out of each bed and each room and nobody else had ever done that. They made sure that I got much air circulation in the bedrooms than what I was getting in the living room.

I had my AC installed by another company last year and when it stopped working I called that same company out to fix it. I spent hours waiting for them to get here and for them to tell me nothing is wrong. My AC was still not cooling So I called Waychoff's and they were at my house within the hour when they showed up the service guy Billy was super nice and respectful of my house. He had my system cooling and running they way that it should be and let me know what the other company failed to do. I would recommend Waychoff's to any one that asks me. I was very pleased with their overall service.

This cost $220 when I know that the thermostat is a $58 item. It goes with the territory good thing is it's done.

Last summer I purchased a new AC unit from Waychoff. This unit was approximately $5000. I was pleased with the installation and the unit. I received a phone call a few weeks ago to schedule a 1 year service check. When the service man came to look at the unit, he found that the capacitor on the unit was "failing" and needed to be replaced at a cost of approx $130 for labor. Moreover, he'd be willing to waive the labor if I signed up for a $290 extended contract. My antennae went off. I asked why the capacitor would have failed in less than a year. He was quick to point out that it had been one year and a few days and that capacitors just go bad. I asked him why I had to pay for a part on a unit that was only one year old. He again pointed out that it was a week out of service warranty. I became very suspicious that I was being taken advantage of. I asked if it was likely that the replacement part might "go bad'. He he couldn't say. But he said that the parts were under 10 year warranty. So the evidence before me was that I was going to be spending an extra $1300 on a $5000 unit during the next 10 years. I was furious. I became more furious at the notion that the cost of the labor was $130. I replaced the capacitor on the old unit two times. It is as simple as plugging an outlet into a wall. I knew I was getting ripped off. Ripped off because a $5000 unit -1 year and 1 week old - with faulty parts was installed. Ripped off because I was going to have to pay for labor at a rate out of line with the difficulty and time of job. I did yell at the man. I admit to losing my temper over being ripped off by a company without the integrity to stand behind its products because of a service call that came 1 week after the 1 year installation. The next weekend, the unit stopped working. I called Waychoff for service and was told that they had flagged my account and would no longer offer me service because of my treatment of their serviceman. So there you have it. A company installs a faulty product, services it one week after the year's contract ends, doesn't have the integrity to stand behind their product out of good faith, and refuses to work with you if you dare express anger and frustration that their products and service practices. I'm sure we'll get a make-nice response to this review, but don't be fooled. Don't waste your money on this company. They have no integrity whatsoever. **Update: Having read through the response below, my opinion has only been confirmed. What you see below is further example of the lack of integrity mentioned in my review. In the response below, you see a third party quoting me. First, how can a third party accurately quote a conversation they were not a part of? Secondly, I never uttered the words attributed to me in the response. Never. I was angry, I yelled. What is quoted below is a dishonest creation of a company trying to save face. I need say no more. Thoughtful people will judge this appropriately.

We apologize for any inconvenience that you have experienced. Our records indicate that our technician was out at your house for routine maintenance and found a capacitor's rating to be weakened. The technician informed your wife and she informed you. That's when you decided to unleash a violent cursing to our technician. Our Technician didn't know what to do, when you asked him to give you the **** ing capacitor or get the **** out of here. He did what I would have done and left. He was only performing the job that we hired him to do. If he would have not charged you for the work performed, then he would have been held accountable. We didn't find out about this until after he left your home and you had already offended and insulted him. If you would have had him call the Owner or manager, we could have resolved this. So this weekend your capacitor finally failed and when you called your account was flagged not to service the system because of your response to the previous call.

The H.V.C.A. unit went out at 3:00 in the morning. I have a 3 year old son and wife and I called Waychoff's I got the name from the internet as they are the closest to my home. They have a coupon on the web site for $50.00 off for new customers. I sent an E-mail and they wrote back saying to call. I called and they said they would be out between 12:00 and 5:00. I stayed home with my son they came out to service at about 2:30. They spend about 2 Min. to diagnose the problem and 5 Min. to do the work they were gone in about 15 Min total. $86.00 for the service call... $203 for the capacitor and $164.for the hard start kit. I had the coupon (Make sure to remind them) and total call was $403
Description of Work: I had no cool on my carrier 1.5-3.0 ton H.V.A.C. unit model 38ycc024-341 they listed the unit as OLD. They came out and found system capacitor shorted and compressor running very high amperage. Replaced dual capacitor and added hard start kit. it was the capacitor 30+5. They recommended the MAR dual Capacitor and the Hard start Assist. System is up and running fine.

I have multiple complaints with Waychoffs related to price and quality. In 2010, being a believer in preventive maintenance, I signed up for two regular system checkups for my six-year-old Trane heat pump, spring and fall, for a total of $189. On the first visit, in March, the technician made a strong sales pitch for surge protectors. Was I gullible? Possibly. I bought them for an additional $189. They returned for the second visit on September 7. This time, I was told that I needed a new starting capacitor for the compressor. For this they charged me $195. I later looked up the part online and found that it can be purchased for about $25. I understand that there is a markup and labor charge, BUT, the technician was ALREADY at my house for a prepaid service call, and the installation of that part took a matter of minutes. This is a ridiculous markup. But here's where the story gets better. In March of this year, my heat pump stopped cooling. I didn't want to do business with Waychoffs again, so I called Snyder. The Snyder technician showed me where a FIRE had occured in the electrical cabinet of my compressor, basically destroying everything inside. He said the cause of the fire was an improper non-OEM starting capacitor (the one installed by Waychoffs). He had to replace everything in the electrical cabinet at a cost of about $921 (after a 10% new customer discount). One of the Waychoff surge protectors was destroyed as well. If the Snyder man can be assumed to be both competent and honest, then the Waychoffs technician caused a dangerous condition and cost me hundreds of dollars. By the way, I did not inform the Snyder technician of Waychoffs involvement until after he had made the diagnosis. I emailed the president of Waychoffs, but he did not respond. This is the kind of situation that cries out for small claims court, but jumping through all the hoops to do that is very difficult.

I do apologize for any inconvenience that you may have experienced. As far as our pricing is concerned we are very competitive with parts, supplies and service rates. We offer surge protectors to all customers in the Mandarin area, due to the excessive electrical surges that they experience. As far as the mark-up on surge protectors, we are within $10 of our competitors. The mark-up is for labor, fuel, and office staff, rent on a building, advertising, and other expenses, that go into being in business. Snyder is one of our competitors, and I would have liked to have seen the damage that our capacitor caused. We would have replaced the capacitor and any damage that it caused.
