+ -1 moreThe carpenter took several measurements and sketched the bookcase. He gave me a receipt and told me to call in 4 weeks to check on the progress. He promised it would be completed by the end of July when I mentioned my time constraint. This was 12 June 07. At the end of July, I called each of the 5 phone numbers listed on the receipt and nobody answered. I then sent an email to the address on the receipt and received a response stating that the company would provide an update within 48 hours. That was 31 July 07. I have heard nothing since. Today I again called all 5 numbers listed for Jacksonville & 2 for St. Augustine (Daytona & Nassau County are also listed) and received no answer. I followed those with a call to the BBB. There were 35 complaints lodged in the last 36 months (BBB's standard reporting period) for several different issues. Thirty-three complaints were "closed" by the BBB when there was no response from the company. It is rated "unsatisfactory" by the BBB.
Description of Work: No work was performed. The company was contracted to build a bookcase to fit under an open staircase. I put $500 down, with another $500 due upon delivery. This was before I discovered Angie's List. W.S. Industries is the third company that has agreed to build this bookcase - no work was done by the others (and no explanation given) but no money changed hands in those cases. I am preparing to sell the place and am anxious to have the project completed, so I agreed to the $500 deposit.
