Description of Work: I used United Electric Co Of Jacksonville, they did indoor and outdoor lighting for me. They replaced 4 indoor lights and installed some additional outdoor lights and replaced a couple of lights.

 + -1 moreWorst possible experience ever. Cannot say that enough. Many days didn't show up when scheduled, WAY over budget, and very shoddy/sloppy work. Initial quote was roughly 8,500 and ended up billing for over 34,000 then put a lien on house for just over 5,000 without even informing us. Actually have email from them to contractor (which also deserves an and quot;Fand quot;) telling them they need to figure out a way to bill for more as they underestimated. This was not for any real reason-- the plans were not modified along the way--they just kept messing up and having to redo the same work. Just one of many, many examples, they took several days (NOT HOURS) to try to fix an existing 3-way switch in one of the bathrooms that they messed up. Beyond comprehension really. Left work undone--again few examples are leaving fuse boxes unlabeled, an existing light switch at front door inoperable, not putting 3-way switches in according to drawn plans, the list goes on and on. Even the contractor was frustrated but said and quot;they are all like thatand quot; which cannot be true. Stay far away from this horrible company or get hard quote in writing with time line for a big job if you have absolutely no other option. Worst electrical company EVER.
Description of Work: United Electric was a subcontractor for FL Design Build. They were to do all the necessary work involved in building a large game room and a storage area over a 3 car garage as an addition to our home.

Knowledgable, friendly, professional, you couldn't ask for more. They have done other work for me as well. When we expanded the kitchen they were the choice of electrician for my contractor.

Description of Work: I had Doug Derousie from United come out to create a bid proposal for a complete rewire of my 60 year old home with ungrounded wiring. Doug created a proposal outlining itemized costs for each of my requests, including, complete rewiring, a panel relocation to the garage, installation of a whole house surge suppressor (which also requiring regrounding the house), installation of two new high powered bathroom exhaust fans, additional of two new scones, adding a light switch for our pool light and installation of 6 new smoke detectors. Tommy Ramsey was the electrician who did the work, at my request, and his helper was Lewis. They were extremely professional, courteous, and thorough. I trust them and their work and that says a lot because I'm very difficult to please. It was an extremely expensive undertaking and I paid them considerably more than what some other companies wanted to charge. I went with United for several reasons. My neighbor is a general contractor and he used United when he built his home and he used them for the home he built for his parents. He specifically said that I should ask for Tommy. United has a good reputation in the community. And, finally, I used them because they didn't try to up-sell me on anything. Best of all, even though they rewired my entire home, they only cut two small holes in one wall in order to fish wires. They didn't have to damage any other walls. Tommy even saved the cut out pieces so that they can be easily patched with drywall mud. Also, Tommy and Lewis took pictures of dangerous wiring situations already present in my attic (flying slices, etc) and showed them to me. THANK GOODNESS I decided to do this rewire! I'm extremely happy. Tommy treated my home like it was his own. What more can you ask? I thoroughly believe that in this case I definitely got what I paid for. I didn't list the total cost of the rewire, because it was extremely expensive and I'm a little embarrassed that I spent this much. But, now I have piece of mind, a grounded home, no more flickering lights and no more dangerous wiring conditions.

Description of Work: I had purchased Airtight trim for recessed lights to be installed in my kitchen ceiling (the package clearly stated "airtight). I already had regular non airtight trim and lights installed, and I wanted to company to replace the existing trim with the new airtight trim. they installed the new trim but apparently did not know what they were doing. not too long ago, a contractor pointed out to me that there were holes in the trim through which air could pass. the purpose of airtight trim is to block any air from passing from the living space to the attic. this contractor used special heat-proof tape to cover the holes. either the trim itself was not really airtight and United Electric should have pointed this out, or United electric did not install the trim correctly. I also had them install a ceiling fan (that I had purchased) and they did that correctly.

They have previously installed some ceiling fans and rewired some of the wiring. I have a crazy wiring system in my house and they worked on wiring some of the light switches.
