It went well. The man said it would need two treatments and we would still see the bugs until after the second treatment and this was the case. We had a severe tick problem and it has taken care of it since. It has been several years now.

They never came when they said. Yard got chinch bugs, sod worms, no fertilization. They have too many customers and not enough technicians. Never showed when they said. Weeks late. Many empty promises. Lost a lot of lawn because of this. Numerous phone calls.

I noticed that my lawn made of St. Augustine grass was thinning out with weeds, especially in the back yard. I have very little grass in the front yard since I had ground cover (jasmine) planted years ago. I suspected that Trad's was not spraying the back yard since I keep the gate locked and no one from Trad's had called me prior to spraying except at the very beginning of the service. Also, no one had called me to let me know that they could not access the back yard or made a notation on the piece of paper that they placed on my front door indicating that they had sprayed my yard. Today, my suspicion was confirmed. The technician sprayed the small amount of grass next to the street and then left after ringing the doorbell. No note on the paper that he left indicating that he was unable to spray the back yard. Clearly, there is a problem with honesty and professionalism at Trad's with the technicians who spray the yards. I called Trad's today and informed them of the problem and requested that the service be cancelled and my money be refunded since I had not received the service for which I had paid. I will be using a different company in the future.
Description of Work: I have used Trad's for at least 5 years for lawn fertilization and pay in advance for the entire year.

I had called because what happened is whenever I did that if you notice, I paid twice by mistake. Someone was going to take care of that for me but nothing has happened yet. I still haven't got a credit on my credit card. I still haven't received the $45 credit. It was good. They did a good job. It was within a week. I think the price itself maybe was just a tad high not too bad but a little high. As a matter of fact I had them do up a contract for me and I am considering doing a contract with them. They could lower the price just a little. I would tell a friend that they showed up on time and did a good job.

Thank you for your review! We are glad you were happy with our service. We apologize you haven’t received your credit yet, however the credit should be coming from Angie’s List. THE ONLY TIME I RECEIVED IMMEDIATE RESPONSE WAS WHEN I COMPLAINED ON ANGIES LIST. TECH CALLED THE NEXT DAY, WOULD BE OUT BETWEEN 11AM AND 1PM. I LEFT AT 1PM. HE CALLED AND APOLOGIZED, HE WAS AT THE HOUSE. I TOLD HIM I WAITED AND WAS NOT TURNING AROUND, I WAS ON MY WAY BACK TO WORK. I TOLD HIM HE COULD SEE FOR HIMSELF, HE AGREED AND COMMENTED "THE LAWN DEFINITELY NEEDS WORK". WAS BILLED AND I PAID. IN FEBRUARY WE CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT WEEDS AND BARE PATCHES. TREATED FOR WEEDS SAID HE WOULD CALL IN FOR A SOIL SAMPLE. I WAS CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND IT WAS SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY MORNING. THE YOUNG LADY SAID SHE WAS THERE TO FOLLOW UP ON WEED TREATMENT, KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE SOIL SAMPLE BUT SHE WOULD CALL IT IN. NO SOIL SAMPLE WAS EVER TAKEN. THE PROBLEM IS THE RIGHT HAND DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE LEFT HAND IS DOING. I WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE 2 PEOPLE FOLLOW UP TO ENSURE THE LAWN WAS BEING TAKEN CARE OF. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY FEEDBACK. I HAD SOD REPLACED FOR $1,000 AT THE FRONT END OF THE CONTRACT. THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHAT THEY FORGET IS DESPITE THE "FREE" REPLACEMENT I STILL HAD TO PAY THE EXTRA WATERING BILLS. I HAVE EXCESSIVE SEDGE AND OTHER WEEDS THAT SOMEHOW MY NEW LAWN SERVICE HAS BEEN ABLE TO BEGIN THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATING. I HAVE PICTURES, I WATER BILLS, I HAVE A LAWN THAT IS IN WORSE SHAPE THAN A YEAR AGO WHEN TRADS BEGAN "SERVICE" AND THEY NOW THREATEN COLLECTIONS IF I DON'T PAY $116 FOR THE MARCH "TREATMENT". I WILL NEVER USE OR RECOMMEND TRADS AGAIN. THEY ARE, IN MY OPINION, POORLY MANAGED AND VERY DISORGANIZED.
Description of Work: IT'S WHAT THEY DIDN'T DO. MY LAWN HAS GONE FROM BAD TO WORSE. TECH CALLED TO SCHEDULE SERVICE. I TOLD HIM NOT TO COME I WAS FINDING SOMEONE ELSE. NO CALL, NO FOLLOW UP JUST A BILL FOR MARCH "SERVICES"...?? EVERYTIME I THINK OF PAYING THE BILL I ASK MYSELF; "FOR WHAT? I HAVE MORE WEEDS AND BARESPOTS THAN BEFORE."

Response from Trad's Pest Control
Thank you for the email. We are not sure how to respond because our records show pest control service calls responded to promptly and we feel we have worked with Mr [Member name removed] to make him happy. Trad's guarantees 6 lawn applications and 3 shrub applications during the service year. We have treated the lawn 7 times and treated the shrubs 3 times during the 6 months the service has been active. Trad's automatically assigns a lawn sprayer and a lawn technician to every account, and we did so with this account as well. A call is placed, by the technician, before any visit or treatment. The service started 3/30/15 and Trad's started treatment on 3/31/15. The lawn had active chinch bugs and large areas of previous damage at the time of start. The [Member name removed] paid to have the previous damage replaced and Trad's installed the sod on 4/24/15. Some of the sod died due to inadequate irrigation. Trad's replaced the sod at no charge on July 8, 2015, despite the fact that we do not warranty sod. We did this because we felt our Garden Center did not respond to Mr. [Member name removed] appropriately and timely when he called with concerns about the sod. We install premium sod. Lack of proper irrigation and the presence of sod worms several months later is not an indication of bad sod. Sod worms are seasonal and the treatment for sod worms is curative, there is very little prevention that can be done and what can be done, we do. We time our treatments at 6 to 8 week intervals, throughout the growing season. When there is sunshine, the intervals are at 6 weeks, however when there is rain, the intervals are normally at 8 weeks. We cannot control the weather, we work in the conditions mother nature presents. We have had a great deal of rain this season, interrupted by periods of very dry drought. Pest Control shows three service calls, one placed on Friday 6/26/15 and Trad's responded on Monday, 6/29/15. We are closed on the weekends, so the response ws the next business day. On 08/20/15 Trad's treated the lawn with insect control (for sod worms and chinch bugs) and fertilizer, but Mr. [Member name removed] called the following day with the request that the lawn be checked for sod worms and that he felt Trad's had not been out in a month. Mr. [Member name removed] called on 9/29/15 requesting a meeting, the call was returned the same day. The Lead Tech left a message asking to set an appointment and apologized to Mr. [Member name removed] for his lack of satisfaction. We have not had a response to this message. I signed up last summer and by the fall my yard had improved. Coming out of winter my lawn received its inspection on February 24th with the comment, "yard is in horrible shape, send Mike or Brad (I think it was Brad) and contact the customer. Over the next few weeks I did not hear or see anything from them. I called on March 25th to follow up and three times since and I still have not received a call back. My yard is in the worse shape it has ever been in and I will likely need to re-sod now due to the lack of attention and follow-up.

Response from Trad's Pest Control
Thank you for the letter and comments from Mr. [Member Name Removed], although we are a bit surprised since this was resolved in April. Mr. [Member Name Removed] has a root rot fungus that preceded Trad’s and caused the damage to his lawn. There was nothing Trad’s or any company could have done to cure or prevent the fungus (since it lives in the soil). Our records show that our sprayer treated the lawn 2/15/16 and was very concerned about the condition of the lawn and reported that the lawn appeared to have significant winter damage. As a result, on 2/19/16, our inspection professional checked the lawn and asked that a manager follow up because the lawn went into winter healthy but emerged from winter damaged; and Trad’s did not make applications to the lawn during the winter. On 02/26/16 a Lead inspected the lawn and told Mr. [Member Name Removed] the lawn may have been damaged by the winter because it did not emerge from winter in the same condition. On 3/25/16 Mr. [Member Name Removed] called about the lawn and asked for direction. After checking the lawn, reviewing the service history and consulting with the Lead, our Service Manager decided to contact the County Extension Agent. The Service Manager was concerned by the symptoms he saw and believed that the lawn contracted a variety of take all root rot. The County Extension agent joined us on the lawn on 04/22/16 and on 5/27/16 the lab results confirmed the diagnosis of take all root rot and Centipede Grass Decline. Centipede Grass Decline is a root rot disease that is caused by stress to the lawn, normally improper cultural practices (infrequent mowing, mowing too low, stress from lack of or too much irrigation). The disease is only preventable by the person in control of mowing and irrigation, there is no product that can be applied to prevent or cure this disease. During our last conversation in April, Mr. [Member Name Removed] decided to re-sod the lawn with St. Augustine turf. Unfortunately this turf damage would have occurred no matter who was caring for the turf. The fungus is in the soil and was present before Trad’s started caring for the lawn. No matter what turf grass is planted, the take all root rot may affect it and the disease cannot be prevented or cured. Although we were certain damage was not caused by Trad’s, we took the extra steps to pull in an expert and test to get a proper diagnosis for our customer.

They did send someone to our house to look at other plants and we were told they were planted wrong and that was killing them. We tore them out, replanted as was suggested and 4 plants, still not doing well after spending more money on suggested food etc.
Description of Work: Went to Trad's and asked for suggestions of want to buy and plant in front of house. Showed them a picture and they gave us suggestions. After purchasing plants and planting them, they started to die. We called and they said bring soil sample and a plant back which we did. Then they told us that 1 plant acidic soil and the other non-acidic. Well they knew they were going in the same spot so why did they sell us plants needing 2 different kinds of soil and fertilizer.

They are good. We've been satisfied with their work. The workers are prompt and courteous and they don't disturb my wife since she works from home. They go and they do their job and they make sure the gates are latched and not left open so the dog doesn't run away and all those important little things. It's not like the spray it all over the house or on the side walk, they out it down where it needs to go down and it looks good.

The sod died. Hinted that it was my irrigation system. I used a hose and sprinkler to be sure. My water bill shows this. They replaced the sod in July. In early August our household bug exterminator told us we had sod webworms. After I called Trads came and treated that. Have not followed up with me ever. I've called or emailed the salesmen every time since I don't know my assigned technicians. My lawn now has many ares of grass that is light green or yellowish in color. Their ads would claim they are different but they use the same textbook answers I've heard from their competition. It's hard to find one that will deliver like they say but usually the first years service is good. Trads has been very disappointing with both service and results from the start.
Description of Work: Started the contract in April. It included re-sodding at $500 per pallet installed. I had two pallets installed. Reason for the high cost was it was premium sod. I was told there would be two technicians managing my lawn and service.

I signed a contract with these people. I can't get them to do the basics -- fertilize and treat for bugs. They don't show up. I called on 7/7 to ask when they will treat and they said sometime during that week. No show. I called 4 days later and asked when they would treat. They were not sure. They sent out an 'inspector' today (7/15). He treated for weeds. I asked why he didn't do the whole treatment -- fertilizer, etc -- and he said he doesn't have fertilizer on his truck. He said maybe someone will come next week. No treatment for 10 weeks in the middle of the growing season??? That's just wrong. He said I have hot spots -- no, I have bugs, which you are supposed to treat. I can see them. He admitted they are supposed to be there every 6 weeks this time of year. The last treatment was May. I had to call them that time to get them out, too. The person argued with me that someone had just been there. I work from home and look out over my driveway and lawn. No one had been there and there was no sign in my yard, and no door hanger saying anything was done. This is very frustrating. Save yourself the frustration and hire someone else. They sell you on 'call us anytime' -- I called 3 times last week and still have not received what I asked for. UPDATE AS OF 7/20: I received a phone call from a Christian on Friday, 7/17, stating that he would service my lawn on Saturday, and he asked me to put away my animals so he could service. Saturday: NO SHOW. Monday: NO SHOW. I cannot understand why they say they are coming and they do not??? I have had zero rain if that's an excuse. I also don't have animals outdoors so that's not an excuse, either.

We are so sorry for the problems you have experienced. Unfortunately your technician, Joe, had a death in his family, causing your first service to take a few more days than we like. That is why you saw Greg out to the lawn instead. He was not able to fertilize the lawn since Christian was in the area doing blanket applications for fertilizer and insect control. Doing these treatments too close together can damage your lawn. We also had Christian leave the company, not knowing that he had called and told you he would be out the following day. As soon as we realized what happened, our manager came out to treat. We are happy to treat the lawn anytime you need service. These were not normal circumstances, and we hope we can prove how much you mean to us as a customer.

First they were hired in the spring to basically get the yard in better condition. They were also hired for shrub service. They did not apply anything to the yard in the month of April. While if you call they will send a inspector out to look at the yard, getting actual service and applications is a whole different story. It was not until repeated phone calls that I actually got someone out to treat the yard. They actually sent two guys. One was Mike the manager. Mike came out and talked to me about what they were going to do while another guy applied a granular treatment per my request. Mike assured me that I would see improvement in my lawn within a week. He was absolutely correct. It was obvious where they treated the yard it had a positive affect. However about 30% of the yard was obviously missed. They didn't miss a section they missed multiple spots. My yard looks like a checkerboard of green and yellow. It is obvious that they are either incompetent or focused on doing the bare minimum. To attempt to fix their incompetence they have sent another guy out to spray where they missed with the granular application. They also burned a small patch in my yard where they loaded the fertilizer into the spreader on the yard. This was supposed to be fixed by now according to Mark. Its still not done. Prior to this I had reached out to the owner Denise and she never returned my call. After this incident I sent her pictures that she didn't respond too either. It was not until I sent her a follow up note with the header of (no response?) did I get a email response from her. Customer service is obviously not a priority. At this point I have decided to hold them accountable to fix what they have broken. My yard went backwards on their watch and since they took my money I expect them to fix it. Meanwhile i will leave their Trads sign in the yard so that all who pass by will know that the checkerboard yard was done by Trads.
Description of Work: Trads was contracted to provide weed, fertilization and pest control for my yard.

Response from Trad's Pest Control
Thank you for the letter. Mr. [member name removed] is correct, he signed with Trad’s on 1/23/15. Unfortunately Mr. [member name removed] called to cancel his service four months later, on 05/28/15. We never want a customer to cancel, especially when we have had little opportunity to affect positive change and only two months into the growing season. At the time Mr. [member name removed] called to cancel, a Service Lead (Mark) called and spoke to him about his turf and shrubs; and consequently met with him the following day. At that time, Mr. [member name removed]’s issues were addressed and applications made. Additional service/applications were also scheduled, as per Mr. [member name removed]'s request, at that time. The Service Lead, (Mark) was training a new technician and instructed this person to fertilize the lawn. Unfortunately, some areas were missed. Mr. [member name removed]called on 06/03/15 about the lawn, Mark acknowledged and apologized for the missed areas and scheduled a correction treatment, which was completed 06/06/15. Mark also acknowledged a spot at the street, less than ten inches square and agreed to have one block of sod replaced. Mr. [member name removed] sent emails to the General Manager, Denise Wartan, starting 06/03/15. As she was out of the office, the emails were forwarded to the proper people in scheduling, resulting in Mark (Service Lead) returning the calls. Denise Wartan sent a response to Mr. [member name removed] when she returned to the office, 06/05/15, explaining that she had been out of the office but his emails had been forwarded to and also responded to by the Service Team. Customer Service is our top priority, unfortunately we do make mistakes. When Trad’s makes a mistake we acknowledge it and fix it, which is what has happened with Mr. [member name removed]. We are in the process of affecting this fix. Mr. [member name removed] is correct; there was no lawn service in April. The service Mr. [member name removed] signed for guarantees six lawn treatments and three shrub treatments over the course of one year. We do not treat monthly, and there was no routine lawn service scheduled in April, however the shrubs were treated twice in April. Trad’s has visited Mr. [member name removed]’s lawn eleven times, making product application eleven times, to date. Ordinarily, in this same time period, Trad’s would have visited an account to make application four to five times. Eleven visits and treatments is a far cry from “bare minimum.” All things considered, we feel it would be best if we did accept his cancellation. This is unfortunate and certainly not what Trad’s prefers.

My lawn is now much greener and thicker after only one treatment. I have used another lawn service for years without any results. I am happy they took their time to properly a**** and treat our lawn.

Trad's is no longer allowed on our property. I know my lawn was not perfect when I contracted with them for lawn service, but it is horrible now. I contracted them because I thought they could do a better job than me, and now I wish I had just bought some weed and feed and done it myself, I'm sure it would look better and it would have cost me a lot less. The grass where they spot treated for weeds is dead or dying, and there are many yellow spots from iron deficiency all over the lawn. And the weeds are not dead or dying. Several appointments were scheduled and not kept, and no notification about a change or why. We have dogs that are often outside so we like to be sure they are inside when service people are doing work around the house. It takes 60 seconds to call and say they need to reschedule due to rain or whatever but never a call. I believe it is common professional courtesy to keep a customer apprised when appointments change. I contacted Trad's about the poor results and a supervisor came to take a look - he said he thought the lawn looked great. That did it, we cancelled the service. We were charged $176 for the treatments noted, so we were told we will get back $214 of the $390. So much for their verbal money back guarantee, all we received for our money is an uglier lawn and broken promises.
Description of Work: I signed a one-year contract for lawn service and Trad's provided this service: 02/13/15 - Broadleaf weed and disease control treatment 02/18/15 - Broadleaf weed treatment and 'added nutrients' 04/02/15 - Granular fertilizer and supplemental iron

Response from Trad's Pest Control
We are very surprised to receive such a negative review considering our conversations with [Member name removed] last week. On Friday, 3/24/15, we spoke to [Member name removed] twice. There was a great deal of confusion regarding the service Trad's provides and the amount of money the [Member name removed]'s actually paid for service. We felt we were able to explain and that [Member name removed] understood. Our conversations both ended well. Our notes and most of our conversations surrounded the following: The [Member name removed]'s started service in middle February and cancelled in middle April, two months is not enough time to affect the type of change expected. Only one month was during the growing season. We visited their lawn seven times from 2/13/15 to 4/2/15 We treated the lawn five times from 2/13/15 to 4/2/15 The only appointment that was cancelled was due to rain, we cannot treat lawns in the rain A technician walked the lawn with [Member name removed] 3/5/15 and explained the brown spots present were from the fungus he had at start up and the fungus was inactive at that time A manager walked the lawn with [Member name removed] 3/24/15 and acknowledged yellowing and weeds and set up a follow up treatment. The follow up treatment is the one that was rescheduled due to rain. The [Member name removed]'s paid a total of $390.00 when they thought they paid $504.00, therefore they were upset about the refund they received They were charged for three treatments only Trad's spot treats weeds during the hot months, we cannot blanket treat a whole lawn in high temperatures Trad's offered to reimbursement [Member name removed] for the 7 blocks of sod he said he purchased but [Member name removed] declined We never want our customers to have a negative experience and this is unfortunate. We feel this is a situation where the [Member name removed]'s had expectations that were not attainable in two months. Their service was active for nine weeks and we were on their lawn for seven of those weeks. We feel we made an honest attempt to create a positive experience and regret we were unable to do this.

In the summer they sprayed more often than they did in the winter. I didn't have a problem with them. The work they did was fine. Our interactions with them was fine. I hardly ever spoke with them. They would call and say that they were coming the next day and I would say, "Fine" They would leave a sign in the yard. Sometimes I would know that they were here and sometimes I would come home and see the sign. I guess their pricing was fair.
Description of Work: We used Trad's Lawn Service for two or three years. They did a termite inspection once a year.

It went well. Chris came out and and drew up plans form our conversation. My husband and I met with him in his office to finalize plans. The crew came as scheduled they made sure they understood the plans. They were polite and professional and worked very hard. The weather did not cooperate and there were rain delays, but the crew was here as soon as the weather allowed.
Description of Work: Removed landscape and replaced with new landscape and sod; planted a sago palm.
