I so regret hiring this guy. First of all he shows up when he feels like showing up. Only stays 2 hrs at a time hours so it ends up taking several days for a small job. He cuts corners even though I have it laid out in text exactly what he said he would do for the price then says since he gave me a discount he's not going to remove the shoe molding before he put in the tile. Oh wait he didn't bother to tell me he was going to do it that way, we saw it like that and questioned him. Then he does such a sloppy job. The tile spacing isn't even and he obviously didn't measure correctly in some spots as there's no tile there. He got all this black stuff all over my newly painted walls, cabinets, and trim so now I have to go in and scrub what I can off and re paint it. The worst part is how he left the floors-completely black and nasty so my husband and I are still trying to scrub it clean. He literally left it looking like such crap I could hardly believe my eyes, see pictures. I can't believe this guy has so many good reviews, maybe he just felt like doing a crap job at my house but I have had tile installed before and they left it clean and nice and did it within 3 days.

They came and gave an estimate, brought me tile to decide on and then maintained an agreed upon date of finish. They came and worked daily, stayed on schedule and finished on due date. Very artistic, they had a vision and the ability to make it come to life. I paid them agreed upon amount when finished. Their workmanship was outstanding. I love my new bathroom, especially the shower! They even clean up after themselves as they went. I can't say enough good things about them! Professional, trustworthy, timely and clean.
Description of Work: They did a total makeover on my bathroom, including my new tiled shower. I travel a lot and the great hotels I stay in can not even come close to comparing when it comes to my new shower! Lovely couple who did an excellent job!

As far as there work goes he does a very good job, does want you to go pick up materials and if you dont charges you extra for it definately needs to work on being on time and punctual and took over three weeks to finish job. Sometimes only working 2 to 4 hours a day. I had typed out everything on paper that I wanted done we agreed and signed on job. Later on he told me that we did not discuss that even though it was on paper and charged more for the job. I had asked to have a corner seat put in the shower which he told me you did not get the marble piece so its too late but did not take anything off the price. All in all I dont know if I would use them again the job started on 11/19/2015 and ended on 12/14/2015. My only major complaint is be on time and put in more hours in a day so the job does not drag on could have done this in about 2 weeks. Also all my walls that were grouted with earth tone color all came out different colors I had told John and he blamed it on bad grout. I had the floor people from home depot come by to look at the job they said job looked great except for different grout colors and that it wasnt bad grout. It had to do with not using mineral water, mixing to much at a time, using too much water, they said never use a fan. So in turn i asked what he would do about the grout and John said he can stain it for 285.00 dollars more why should I pay for there mistakes. Hope this helps you
Description of Work: Some demo but i did most of it, built up wall in shower put up new durock tile and grouted shower. Tile and grouted around garden tub, tiled and grouted halfway around the bathroom, replaced some drywall and patched walls which I inturn had to sand and primer them. Pulled up old floor tile and replaced tile and grouted and put up new light fixtures, towel rack.

He had me get all the materials and the wall board. I am old and hauling that wall board was not easy. He could have been clearer up front. about what he could do and what would be included in the price. He installed some cracked tiles in my shower and said that it was a natural striation in the tile. I pointed it out the day he did it. Then, my plumber and contractor disagreed. He never responded when I told him about it.

John showed up on time for estimate of repair of leaking shower pan in a 1950s house. He gave us the cost of just repair, total replacement of tiled shower, and full remodel. We chose the full remodel because he gave us a great price. We were also in a time crunch and John delivered what he promised (to be complete by November 12). It was a lot of work tearing out the old tile shower and tiled walls. He worked tirelessly on the demo and made the walls as smooth as glass in which I had serious doubts that it could be done after the four feet tall of tiled walls were torn out. I was wrong! It turned out great. He has great skill and is a magician when it comes to drywall repair. We are very happy with the choice of tile that he suggested for the floor and shower and it looks great. John is great at what he does and has a strong opinion on how it should be done. This might be an issue with those that have their own opinions on how they want the project to turn out. As this is a rental property, we didn't have too strong of opinion on the overall design of the project. This might cause consternation with homeowners wanting it done their way. We were more concerned on value, quality, and time. His work exceeded my expectations and the floor and this shower looks better than the the bathroom in my own home! Overall, it turned out great and he has good taste! We will use him again on our future property acquisitions. THANK YOU JOHN! GREAT WORK!

The first day John was there, he flooded the bathroom by turning the water on after leaving the valves open. There was 2 inches of standing water in the bathroom I just demo'd and he just put fresh dryall in. This should have been an indication this wasnt going to work out. Anyways, as time passed and he injected his design sense into nearly every aspect of the bathroom we became frustrated. What killed it was he asked for more money, $600 more than we discussed initially. I didn't ask for more work to be done, but he says he didnt know I wanted tile on the wall as well. We discussed this, in detail. Don't get it wrong, the quality of work he has completed is really good. But, John wants to change the layout and design. His idea's are better than yours and he does much more talkin compared to listening. Be careful of an under bid here. *UPDATE* After careful consideration and ensuring I think my actions through. I felt the need to provide further details on this situation. John used my tools, not his. He is a contractor and should have his own tools. I didn't realize this was such an issue but as I described my experience to friends and family they felt this should be shared with potential future clients. Additionally, after my above review John began harassing my fiancé through text messages. We still have all of these text messages if Angies List needs them, but, he threatened to speak to my fiancé’s parents by going to their family business and discussing with her father. We are adults, no need to involve our parents. He continued to theaten to go to my work and speak to my boss about the situation. The bottom line here is after much thought, I should have never hired John. John is an extremely nice guy and very personable. He was, for the most part, professional and cordial. John's work is excellent, he does great quality work. But all of the above complaints outweigh my praises and I would never hire John again. As I am writing this I am mildly nervous for the future texts or phone calls I may receive from John, however, it is necessary for me to share my experience with all of Angies List. After all, in our first conversation, John told me he would give me a "special price" if I promised to leave a review on Angies List. So, here it is. Final and complete.
Description of Work: I completed the demo of my master bathroom. John's task was to put up drywall and haribacker and then lay fresh tile. Additionally, he re-routed some plumbing for us. The quality of work he completed is second to none.

They were nice, punctual and professional. However, the quote was shocking because it cost as much to put the wall up as to take it down. We were told when the wall went up (different contractor) that a great deal of the cost was to make custom crown molding to match the living room. My realtors said it would cost about $1500 to take it down, so the $4500 quote was not going to get the job. When I told the company, thanks, but you are way over priced, they immediately discounted the price by $1500. I was shocked once again. Any company who drops that much off their quote, is not a company that I thought gave me a fair price to start with. I didn't want to write this, but this is why we use Angie's list.

We live in a 1953 block beach house. We have been working on remodeling it for the last 4 years. This was the second bathroom we had done. The first one went ok but I was not real happy with the people that did it or their total lack of professionalism. This one went great. We ran on to a few unexpected problems but just about everything we have done in this house has had issues. John handled the problems as they arose and I love my new bathroom. What a difference. I would highly recommend him.
Description of Work: John remodeled the bathroom. It was the 1950's old two tone tile. In other words terrible. We now have a marble shower, painted walls and a beautiful stone floor. I am absolutely thrilled with the transformation.

My brother-in-law is a general contractor who is very particular with his work. He and John worked together on remodeling an oceanfront condominium. John was a valuable worker who was "good at problem solving and had innovative ideas" according to my brother-in-law. He virtually did everything: hung new kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets/ light fixtures; painted the entire condo unit; put in new plumbing; laid down new vinyl flooring throughout; hung and finished dry wall; carpentry and trim work. This condo is now a showplace; Dennis calls on John any time he needs expert workmanship. John is proficient, professional, and reliable. We are proud to recommend John as a complete "handyman" even though that term doesn't do justice for his excellent work.
Description of Work: John painted the entire interior of our house, including the doors; in both bathrooms, he removed the wallpaper which had been there for 20 years and painted the walls. He put tile on the wall in back of our oven as a decorative touch. John is a perfectionist and does beautiful work! He is very neat and cleaned up at the end of each day. I was so very pleased with his work and recommended him to a friend who needed some doors hung. She was also pleased with his work. John is dependable and professional.
