I think they do a good job and they do not try to rip you off. I think they are a family run company.

I have felt comfortable wtih the expertiese of the Thigpen technicians on both service calls. I gave them a poor score on responsiveness because I was lost in the summer shuffle and they didn't follow up after my first call back. I was also a bit weary of the $125 price for installation as that seemed awfully high. All things considered, they've generally exceeded other HVAC companies I've dealt with here in Jacksonville.

Our central air conditioner blower (fan) went out just before Saturday noon on the hottest weekend of the year, with temperatures hovering near 100 daily. This company was referred to us by a friend mid day Sunday when our previously used contractor could/would not come - or even call us back - until Monday. Late Sunday evening, a service technician came and in less than 30 minutes diagnosed the problem. He did not, however, have the required part on his truck. About noon on Monday, contractor's office called to say that neither they nor the distributor service parts warehouse for the (well known name brand!) air conditioner had the part in Jacksonville. They advised that it had been ordered from an out of town warehouse and should be in on Tueday. At noon on Tuesday, their office called and advised the part had indeed come in and that later in the afternoon they would try to come and install it. They did so (a different technician) abount 4:30 PM. Installation took about 30 minutes. Unit checked and performed as it should. Thankfully so, as the "official" high that day was 102, with heat index of 114 degrees. Notes: Office personnel were very friendly and helpful when they called. Service techs were knowledgeable and professional. Having different techs at different times on the same job did not seem to cause any difficulty or much 'lost motion'. Could not give an 'A' regarding price as there was not breakdown of parts, labor cost. Preprinted 'diagnosis' and 'EPA fee' cost were, however, shown separately on the invoice.

The home inspector recommended that we have the HVAC system looked at because it had been turned off for an extended period of time. He thought there could be a need for some repair work and we should budget that expense. The technician came in the time period promised and thoroughly went over the system. He instructed us in how the system worked the most efficient way to use it. He found no problems and charge was far less than we anticipated.

It took two days to install the two units. First day was the upstairs unit. Second day the downstairs unit and changes to duct work. All work was done on time. The technicians were professional and cleaned up everything at the end of each day. Tracy stopped by each day to ensure that all was going according to plan. Oh yes, we did get a surprise thank you gift of cookies a week after the job was completed. How cool was that !

Everything went smoothly; he arrived when he said he would, and quickly found the problem. He was professional and experienced. We thought the cost was reasonable, and in fact we were relieved it was a relatively easy fix.

Arrived when scheduled. Serviced gas furnace first, then cleaned line, and serviced heat pump.

The technician was prompt, courteous, and did his job thoroughly.

They were on time and used good communication on how long it would take and when they would arrive. This was the second company we worked with and Thigpen was the best price and were more timely.

We are very please with the results of the service. This is the 4th company we've had, try to fix this problem and Thigpen is the only one, who has been able to fix it properly.

They arrived at about 8:15am that morning and started the work ripping out the old unit (in the garage) and the outside unit. The new outside unit was delivered about 9:00 by another truck. They got the new unit set up and waited for the inside unit to be dropped off around 2pm. By 4pm, everything was hooked up and running. Electrician sub-contractor swtiched out the circuit breakers that were required by building code, and city inspector gave everything an okay. Our house was nice a cool that evening. The next morning I noticed a higher than expected buzzing from the outside unit compressor. I reported it to them, and they sent someone out to check it out. We then scheduled a time from them to swap out the compressor with another new one. That was done and the new compressor was quiet as expected. We installed a new TRANE XR13 indoor/outdoor unit. Thigpen even sent us a thank you give of fresh cookies as a thank you. Fair price, great service, would recommend to use.

I would hire them if I did not find any one better. I have had better but I would still use them.

Thigpen Heating and Cooling keeps its promises. They are punctual and offer excellent service. They are tops with me; that's why I keep using them. We purchased the unit from them four years ago and it has worked beautifully. It is a good local company.

Thigpen Heating and Cooling employees are very nice and courteous. They explained everything they were doing. I would refer them to others.
