Description of Work: 7 yr old 55: HDTV failed after hardly any hours of actual usage over those years. I thought it was the power board or the capacitors on the power board. I thought about doing the "I'll buy the parts and DIY" method and save a $ bunch...but called Anatoly instead, just after finding him in Angie's List (good prior reviews). Glad I did. He arrived the next day, we took the TV off the wall, he took it apart, and he initially agreed with my assessment. However, after almost an hour of probing and testing, he could not isolate which component was preventing it from turning on randomly....a very strange problem which was going to take many multiples of troubleshooting pathways over time to isolate. He recommended me either continuing to test it myself (we went thru all the details of each system and how to test each) over probably weeks -OR- trashing the TV (can't sell, and can't even donate a TV if you can't ensure that it'll turn on!). I'll put it on the curb as a freebie. Bottom line = Anatoly saved me quite a bit of money and time, because I would have been chasing my tail buying parts on eBay, none of which would have worked in turn...would have been good money after bad. He only charged $49 for a significant chunk of his time and knowledge, and I appreciate that. I know who to call next time...

Description of Work: |Repaired the power switch on my old LCD big screen TV. Technician was very knowledgeable and did a great job of explaining what he was going to do and what he actually did. The TV works now so I can get a little more life out it. Would definitely use Tech Knowledge again for all electronics repair service.

Description of Work: What a great experience. Our TV was damaged by a lightning strike, and after examination, the technician said it was not worth our money to repair it, but that we should probably take the money it would cost to repair and purchase a new one for that same amount. He was willing to fix it if we wanted him to, but wanted us to understand that may not be our wisest option. I appreciate his honesty, as he stood to make more money from the repair if he repaired it. We did end up deciding to replace the unit, however if we have more TV repairs to do in the future, we will definitely use him again.

Description of Work: Removed the back of the television and determined the problem. Since a particularly hard to obtain part was the problem,the technician was unable to fix the television. He, Anatoly Kozel, then advised me how to get the part. I appreciated his knowledge and expertise as to what the problem was and how to obtain the part. It was a very satisfactory transaction.

Description of Work: Called Tech Knowledge for TV repair. Anatoly came to the house to check the cause of our TV's loss of picture. He was punctual and very professional.He needed to replace the Video Processor Board but did not have the part available so he have to order it. He took the TV with him to check it more thoroughly while waiting for the part. He came back after a week with the TV and it is working like new. Anatoly is a cool friendly guy, we would definitely hire him again for any repair in the future. The price is very reasonable for a home service....it beats dragging that big TV around to a repair shop not knowing if it is still repairable or not. |Thanks, Anatoly. Description of Work: No work performed. Tech Knowledge checked TV. Found the PCB borard would have to be replace and the cost not worth the replacement. I just had to pay the service call.

Description of Work: Mr. Kozel diagnosed the problem with our 70" Samsung LED TV over the phone, ordered the part, and when it arrived a week later he came to our home to fix it. He brought all his tools and an extra DVD player that he used for testing components. He replaced the main board, and then tested everything else we had connected to the TV (Wii, X-box, Bose, DirecTV receiver, cables). He found that the HD portion of the DirecTV was fried, too -- so much for the surge protector!

Description of Work: phoned to make an appt for tv repair. Samsung 46" tv was sounding funny. Was advised on troubleshooting by phone which solved the problem. No need for him to come out. I'll call again if I experience another problem with my televisions.

Description of Work: TV had no picture at all. Advised it might be a power source. Upon opening the TV he found several capacitors that had expanded. He replaced the capacitors and turned the TV on and it worked like new.

Description of Work: Does this company actually exist? I read the excellent reviews and have tried to contact them to service my TV. I have not had any response to my phone calls or emails. There is no indication that they are unavailable for any particular reason, just a recorded message that says they are unavailable to take my call right now. I am so disappointed! The reviews were excellent and I was looking forward to working with them. I would love to give them an opportunity to respond but I cannot wait forever. My TV needs repair.
