Silcox Contracting Inc

I live out of state and Silcox agreed to replace a damaged roof on a rental house I co-own in Jacksonville while I was in town. Due to weather, there was minor delay in getting roof replaced. Once the weather changed Silcox was able to get work started and completed before weather changed. Work was completed in 2 days and clean up was completed. When work was completed it took several days and as a many calls to their supervisor to get dumpster removed. Dumpster was parked on driveway blocking access to the car port and front door. Finally it got removed. The crew that installed roof failed to replace rotted facial areas that were to be repaired/replaced at the time quote was made. After numerous calls, and visits to there office, part of the rotted areas were finally addressed and somewhat repaired. Two areas were missed. Again many calls were made, emails sent, visits to their office finally resulted in their supervisor meeting with me at the house and he confirmed that the rotted areas should have been corrected AND that he would get his crew out to house the next today . . . his word tomorrow . . . to replace rotted areas. Tomorrow never comes with Silcox. Since entire roof was replaced I needed to get a wind mitigation report and Silcox said that they would get this report to me so I could get house insured. Again many calls were made to their supervisor and emails and calls to their office finally generated the much requested wind mitigation report. Since I live out of town, I had to rely on my renter and co-owner to keep me updated on where Silcox was at in getting the rotted areas repaired/replaced. I also made several trips back to Jacksonville to follow up on why the work was not completed. Their supervisors response is "it will get done tomorrow, I promise". As of the end of June 2013 there have been no effort to contact me or repair rotted areas. The owner of Silcox, his office person, and supervisor ALL stated numerous times that they guarantee that work will be completed to my satisfaction. Which is simply lip service they provide in order to get the business. Since the cost to take them to court would be higher than getting areas repaired, I will get work done locally. Which is probably what they are thinking. Silxox is not a company that I would recommend to anyone. My only hope is that the roof they installed does not need any follow up repair for based on their response to date, it will not get done, and I will have to get another company to handle the repairs if needed.

They were good and prompt on getting the roof on. They were very lousy on finishing detail work, and on follow up. It was the worst follow up I have ever seen as far as the job being complete and paperwork. Their magic word is tomorrow. Their ad used to say 100% satisfaction guaranteed and it does not anymore. Worst experience. I would not recommend them to anyone. If I see their truck parked in someones driveway I will knock on the door and tell them what I think about the company. They answer the phone but do not respond. I made a mistake paying them before all done. They did not finish the trim work. They kept saying they will get someone out that afternoon or tomorrow but they do not come.

the Owner (*Bill) talked my wife into meeting him for drinks to discuss documents then proceeded to get her drunk and took her to his office and had s** with her then sent her home 35 mile away drunk driving...he is a womanizer and he is married and has kids. he over charged the insurance company for work he didn't complete and still isn't complete. his workers showed up late took extended breaks and made comments to there boss about my wife right in front of me..all i wanted was a new roof not marital problems. the workers didn't clean up the roofing nails and spikes even after calling them out several times. i am not the one to complain often at all but this guys is a snake in the grass and gives contractors a bad name. still trying to recover my marriage from a simple roof repair...yeah nice i know
