Description of Work: When I first set my first appointment with this company I had to wait 3 weeks. When the appointment came the man called me a day before to reschedule and we agreed on a time for the reschedule. The second time time they were supposed to come out he called and asked if he could come the next day and I told him I would be busy, he said he would call the next week to reschedule and never did.

Quality Discount Roofing put on an entirely new roof for me and they were fantastic overall. Mr. Tim Bates came to the house to give me an estimate and he was on-time, courteous, and he respected my specific roofing issues. He and the other Quality Discount Roofing bosses checked on the progress of my new roof periodically. The crew they sent out to put the roof on was led by a gentleman named Victor Martinez. They showed up early and they left late. I was impressed with their desire to get the job done. They were the epitome of hard working. They were courtesy and professional at all times. When I had any questions about paper work, such as with homeowners insurance forms, I called Cheyenne at the office and she never failed to answer my questions. You could just tell she knew what she was doing and she had done it before. She was always courteous and polite to me but best of all she always knew the answer. I was very pleased with the job that the roofers did overall. The speed was very quick and the price they quoted and the actual price paid was very close. I am a retired teacher and I would say that Quality Discount Roofing has earned an A+.

Quality Discount Roofing, LLC, was highly recommended by Angie?s List and also by our son?s house inspector. QDR?s sales rep Jimmy Soderlund met with us to evaluate our roofing needs and make recommendations with written estimates that included a Military Veterans discount (together with his personal ?thank you for your service? handshake to my husband). We were most impressed by Mr. Soderlund and his knowledge and genuine concern to ensure the right roofing system for our home and our budget. We opted to go with a PBR metal roofing system, and Quality Discount Roofing did not disappoint. Every member of the QDR team (Jimmy, plus Marty and Marshall who installed the roof) was professional, polite and attentive to detail, ensuring the workmanship and materials were of the highest quality. And, most importantly, the job was completed on schedule and on budget, just as promised. Description of Work: In December 2013 I had this company install a new roof on my home. They were great. They arrived on time and mostly completed the job in one day. I didn't have much contact with the workers, but when I did they were very pleasant and professional. I would give them an A for this part of the service. In May 2015, I noticed something that seemed out of place on the roof so I called on May 18 and left a message. I got no response. On May 26 I called again and actually spoke with a woman in the office and explained that I would like for someone to look at this. No response. On June 1, I called again and spoke to a woman who said this had been assigned to someone but he was in Orlando. I just requested that someone call me and make and appointment to come out and look. I told them that I did not have an issue and it was not urgent but I would like to speak to someone. On June 8, I called again and this time asked to speak to the owner. He was unaware of this issue and sent someone out that day. There was a minor issue and the worker fixed it. But, what good is a good installation if you have to call 4 times to get a response. They get an F for that. I averaged it out to a C. If I have future issues, I will just ask to speak to the owner.

We apologize that it took multiple calls to get attention, instead of one. Our warranty is 10 years on labor and depending on the roof purchased, up to 50 years on the material, by the manufacturer. Your words did not fall on deaf ears and we are in the process of phasing in procedures to make sure we do not see negative comments on reviews again. Effective communications is important in all phases of life, not just business. From children to relationships the right communications is vital. Over the years we have done a considerable number of roofs and have made a lot of friends and happy customers. However, we do a poor job of requesting reviews. No one needs to be encouraged to voice disappointment but we should request reviews to paint an accurate picture of who we are. We understand and appreciate the power of Angie’s List, your voices speak volumes. We are very quietly an excellent company that takes pride in our work and you need to know that. GAF,IKO and other shingle manufacturers have acknowledged our performance, while we are the largest customer for a very large local roofing supply company. It went horribly wrong. At the end of the completion I was called on the phone and was told that the guy that sold me the roof, Matt Haynes, that he would give me a discount to $5,400 if I paid cash to him. I paid him and he gave me an invoice showing I had paid. On the 22nd I got a call from them that the man that sold it to me never paid them the money and they were not going to release the permit on my home and lien on my home until I paid them. They said they were now finding out that this man may have done this up to 20 different times. I spoke with the owner of the company and showed him my invoice and he refused to released the lien on my property because they feared I would not go to court with them against him. It seems to me that I ahve been duped from the start. I told them I would go to court with them and help them prosecute him and they will still not release my assets.

Unfortunately the customer is correct, his payment for the re-roof we completed for him was stolen by our former employee. Our employee did offer him a discount to pay in cash. The member never called the office to find our if this was normal or not, he chose to take a cheaper price instead. Had he called and checked out this unusual request, we would had advised him not to do so as that is not one of our policies. As soon as we were made aware of the theft, the owner of Quality Discount Roofing met with the member in person and stated we will not be charging any customers effected by the theft again. Again, we will not be double charging even though we have no proof the member paid our former employee, we take his work for it as we do have proof of the theft. Unfortunately, we have been advised by our attorney unit the active criminal case against our former employee has been closed to place the liens on the property for our protection. This is our worst nightmare and we apologize for the stress and inconvenience this has called. All issues will be resolved when authorized by our attorney.

Of things that I liked about it is that they provided me with a good price. The roof that they put on leaked. When I called them up for service, they came out right away and fixed it so I appreciated that. On the downside they delayed doing the roof job for nearly a month because they wanted to get a special dumpster for my area that they had to secure. They were long delayed in getting that. I was disappointed that there was a big lag time between when they said they would do the job contractually and when they actually showed up to do it.

Unfortunately there are times when delays can be an issue and we always do our best to resolve them. Most delays are weather related which causes scheduling issues. Please note this is a new review but the work was done nearly 3 years ago. In that time we have gone through our improvement phase and developed new alternate sources and procedures for many different issues. However, we still have to contend with the weather like any outdoor contractor. 1. It may not be raining in your location on the day your job is scheduled but the crew assigned to your job is delayed because of rain on the previous job. The existing job most be completed before yours can start. In those cases the office calls the day before your installation with an update. 2. The equipment required can be tied up on a job that has been delayed. Schedule changes can effect reserved equipment as well as work crews. We then have to secure comparable equipment, if available. A day or two is typically depending on what is required. 3. Very rarely, because of the layout of certain properties, only certain size dumpsters can be used. Dumpster placement is typically the issue. We would rather delay a job start and use the right equipment, than override the advice of our experts in the field and encounter issues. Once we do a job, it has a 10 year labor warranty and some products carry a 50 year manufacturer’s warranty. Thank you for your review and we appreciate your business.
