We told the manager that we had a service warranty, so did not think the motor replacement labor would cost much. I noticed one of the men working on the AC unit for about an hour. We were astounded at the labor price. We had not requested the motor changeout, the service man left with only the $850.00. I called the service manager to discuss and he said that the $325.00 was a standard price for that operation. Part of this was a 25% chargeback, pasted on from the company, for the motor. After hearing all of this, I dug out our original paperwork to check the terms, and found that we had a parts and labor warranty, so it should have been done at no cost to us!! I had to bring it to the attention of the Service Mgr. and finally, he said that he would have the bill corrected. A few days later, I received a 'dunning' call from their Accounts Receivable person, still trying to collect. We felt that they were trying to get as much money as possible for the motor changeout; whatever they could get by us! In fact, we propbably should not have been charged for the $79.00 service call. It was their technician who serviced the unit just a few months earlier and overcharged the refrigerant, in the first place! Now the Service Manager has lost all credibility with us and my husband really wonders if the increased ductwork size was warranted or just a money making job for Perfect Climate. Now we don't know which HVAC people to trust. Another local company owner was arrested for misleading warranties, too. Please add us as a dissatisfied customer of Perfect Climate's.

We entertained about half a dozen installation quotes from exhibitors at a recent Home & Patio show. Three of them were high, and the remaining three were all pretty close. So, it was kind of a toss-up over which supplier to select. Then I ran into Jesse, Perfect Climate's PR man in the field, at a demo booth set up in a home improvement store on a recent Saturday. We talked for about half an hour as he was a fountain of information on all things HVAC. This caused me to re-examine PC's quote, and I was recontacted by their estimator, Al Moser. Al came back to the house and made a final offer we couldn't refuse. And, the installers were out three days later. It was a clean transaction overall. The installers handed me an invoice on completion and I handed them a check for the total amount, though 12 mo. interest free financing was available.
