We made multiple visits to this location. They had a very nice selection. The sales people were helpful, informative and the products were explained. They were excellent to work with nd very professional.
Description of Work: Purchased travertine for flooring and tile for counter tops. Others installed product.

We were referred to Opus from our kitchen remodeling contractor who had frequently done business with them in the past. The whole experience was puzzling from the moment we stepped in the door. First of all, no one was willing to talk price about any of the products. On an attempt to at least partially on-budget, we at least asked which section to look in. It was treated as a big "bring me a rock" (no pun intended) game. You know, "is this a rock"? "no, bring me a rock". When we finally grew so frustrated we just picked out a slab we liked and had it "held" until Monday when our contractor could pay for it. He contacted Opus and no one could tell us where our slab was located and apparently our consultant had been "reassigned" at the last minute. When I called to clarify the situation, it appears the slab was sold to someone else (no call to us, we would have been happy to pay for it is there was any issue, we were told that was how it was "done") and the "reassignment" was that they didn't want to bother to tell us. Not only will I never go to Opus Stone, our contractor no longer does business with them as well. Too bad, I'm about to redo three bathrooms in my house and know of several others in the neighborhood as well.
Description of Work: Attempted to purchase a slab of marble for a kitchen remodel

It's been on going issue. I have contacted both Fenwick plumbing and Opustone to redo my floor and get the problem fixed, but they are acting like it's not either parties problem. They keep shifting responsibility back and forth between the two. Fenwick assured me that the gray would lighten to match the white and it did not. Opustone is saying I am not the customer, Fenwick Plumbing is the customer and he would have to complain. Also, they said they can't refund my money because it is already installed. This whole problem could have been avoided if Opustone had shown me a current cut from marble. It is customary practice to do this. It's been on going issue with Opustone. Opustone will not take any responsibility for this. In fact, the president of Opustone had his attorney threaten me with a defamation suit if I pursued my report with Angie's list. Even though the marble is on my bathroom floor, Opustone says I am not the customer. - Advice on purchasing marble. 1) Make the stone supplier show you a recent cut. The tile on display in the showroom may not represent the current location of the rock being cut. You can also prevent a bait and switch. 2) Make the supplier show you a range of possible color you can expect from this cut. 3) Above all, make sure the supplier provides all the stone from one location. 4) Open every box, examine every tile before any portion of the floor is set. - Advice on having tile installed. 1) Have the tiles laid out in the pattern the installer plans to use before they are set. That way you can discuss any problems before it is permanent. 2) Make sure the materials used to set the tile is appropriate. 3) Ask the installer to use spacers if you have any doubts. 4) Make sure you use an experienced stone or marble setter, not a plumber. There is an art to setting natural stone. It cannot be stuck down like ceramic tile where every piece is identical. The installer has to take into account natural variation.
Description of Work: Based on the tile on display in the showroom, I ordered enough carrera marble for a 10' x 10' bathroom to be installed in December 2007. The samples were of beautiful carrara marble. The contractor picked up and paid for the marble. The marble was delivered in two separate shipments. The first shipment was from Jacksonville, it was white and streaked with gray not veined, and it did not look like carrara marble that I saw in the store. The contractor installed the first shipment of marble. The second the shipment came from Miami and it was gray and it didn't look like carrara marble that had already been installed. Mismatched lots is not something done by any reputable stone supplier. It is very basic.
