In his contract he stated he would use a certain window (5 total.) Contractor made design changes, used different windows. He did this without consulting me on any changes. Contractor used his son for all finishing work. Tile was laid with a lot of lippage, and there was even a tile that was loose (due to installation error.) The son installed white shaker cabinets. They were installed poorly with visible light showing between cabinets, screws poking threw cabinets, finishing nails poking through cabinets. Face of cabinets cracked due to over tightening screws. Every single cabinet, had a safety/cosmetic issue. The cabinets on the right side of my stove are mounted half of an inch lower than the cabinets on the left of the stove. I asked the contractor to fix the floors, and he refused stating that it was an issue with the tile, not the installation. After research, and having the exact same tile (purchased at the same time) laid in an adjacent room by a flooring professional, the contractor agreed to pull up the tile. The contractor did not remove tile under the cabinets. His son made an attempt to “level” the floors with a mortar/self leveling mixture, and made the floor worse. There are hills and valleys all over the slab. At that point I asked him to cease repairs, and asked to have the floor fixed by someone else. I asked for a refund of the “flooring” from the contracted price, and he refused. I asked him to replace the windows with the contracted windows 7 weeks ago, and have not heard from him. I pointed out every single issue with the cabinets, he kept saying he’d have his son repairs them, but never did. They made a mistake somewhere in construction that left an “off” order that ties to the original structure, that is really hard to explain. The corner of the addition/house hangs over the floor. When they did the plumbing they ran a 3 inch pipe from one corner of the backyard, through the entire length, around the opposite side yard, to the front. Instead of filling the 4” trench, they used a front loaded to spread the dirt. This left a 4’ wide path of torn up Saint Augustine grass. Took down a fence panel and never replaced it. I asked for them to resolve the backyard issue, and his resolution was to throw Bermuda grass seed. Since I have Saint Augustine grass (that was completed sodded 3 years ago, I immediately tried to take up the seed/straw that they threw down. I now have a 4’ wide path of Bermuda grass through the length of my yard. The siding that was installed, per installation instruction, is to have flashing at all butt joints. There is no flashing. The siding instructions also state that there is to be a 1/8th inch gap between trim and siding- there is no gap in places, and 3/4 inch gaps in others. The caulk they used cracked and failed after 2 months. The back door was hung poorly, and even after it was “fixed” there is still daylight showing through. I told him at least 3 times, what door I wanted, and he put in a different door. The electrical inspection was cancelled due to no fire rings being installed in the back splash. The issue was “fixed” by the son, photo was sent to the inspector, and the inspection was “passed.” There were never ANY fire rings installed. Upon further investigation, none of the 20 outlets met electrical code standards. The drywall behind the outlet covers was cut very poorly and there is even drywall mud inside of the outlets. I was charged twice to paint the exterior corner of the house. I was charged $4500 to paint the entire house, and then $800 to paint the addition. The son broke a $200 light fixture and assured me he’d reimburse me if I replaced it. I was never reimbursed. I brought all of these issues up to the contractor numerous times, and the only resolution he offered was to not make me pay the remaining $2500 I owe him. The last time I spoke with him, I was told that My contacting him was interfering with his work and family life. I have heard nothing from in a month.
