The owner was sick so he sent his nephew, a journeyman, and some guy and they were terrible. They were late and they got grease on my carpet. They didn't discuss what they were going to do and just did it. I will not use them again in the future.

The tip-off to the problem was the increase in the utility bill by $100! I called the local provider, who sent out a man to assess the problem. He determined it was a leak in the hot water pipes under the slab of the house. There is no way of accurately determine exactly where the leak was, and the current solution is to re-pipe the house around the perimeter, over the ceilings and through the outer and inner walls. I have a Florida house, built in 1956, with a low pitch to the roof, so there was little room in the attic for the plumber to place the pipe - 24" highest point! - still, he was able to get most of the new pipes across the ceilings of the garage, kitchen and two bathrooms. The guest bath was especially difficult, with no access panel and little more then 8" between the shower wall and the oil heater, to replace the valves, faucet and shower of the bathtub. All of the work was done efficiently and professionally, with a minimum of disruption to the household. Most of the mess was cleaned up (a few bits an pieces here and there), all the trenches were filled and raked over, plus an offer to replace the boxes in the attic, which I declined due to the need to have other work done while it was empty. I was not excited about the price -- but the circumstances were difficult and the fee was certainly earned! Had it not been my regular plumber, who I trusted, I would have looked for a lower bid. But, a potted plant was given as a token of appreciation -- how can you not love a "sensitive" plumber!
Description of Work: After discovering a slab leak in my 1956 vintage house, I called the plumber I have used for the last 22 years to replace all the hot and cold water pipes leading from the city utility junction to the house for washer, kitchen (sink, dishwasher, ice maker) and two full bathrooms, plus three hose bibs outside.
