The service pro was out the day after calling and on time. He was very professional and friendly. The price was high but we were willing to pay it. However, later that day we realized the pipe was still leaking. After calling they promised to have someone out the next day. No one called, no one came. Day two, same service pro calls on the way. No one was home because no advance notice was given so he said he would be by that evening. Another no call/no show. Day three, another no call, no show. Dissapointed!!

Metro Rooter was suggested by our real estate agent as the cheapest way to inspect a septic system at a house we were considering purchasing. Long story short, the experience was horrible. On the day of inspection the inspector told our agent and the homeowner that there were only a couple small issues and that the system passed inspection. The homeowner agreed to fix the issues and sale went into contract based on that verbal report. Then, for two weeks or so our agent could not get in touch with anyone to get a copy of the report. Then one day I get a call from our agent telling me she finally got the report, that it said the septic had to be completely replaced to tune of about 10k and the homeowner was getting ready to cancel the pending sale. This amounted to alot of STRESS on our part. As we couldn't trust this report, based on the huge disparity between verbal and written report, we were forced to hire another company for another report. Low and behold this report came back in 24 hrs and confirmed that, besides the minor issues noted in Metro Rooters report, which had already been fixed the septic system was fine. We have been living in this house for months now and no issues. My firm belief is that either there was a complete breakdown in the inspection process or Metro was trying to drum up business by saying we needed new tank and field. Either way, this situation caused much stress and cost me an additional 475.00 by hiring a separate company. I would not under any circumstances hire this company for any business, especially inspection of septic fields.

I’m a fool . . . hee-hee! May 21. Our commode was not always refilling after being flushed. Sometimes it did, sometimes it didn’t. It had something to do with the flotation device within the tank. As a member of our family was having a birthday on the 23rd, I was concerned because guests were coming over, and at least one was spending the night. We called three plumbing companies that we had used before, but none was available. We called Metro Rooter. They sent someone over within a couple of hours. (Have you ever had misgivings when speaking to a repair man whom you’ve never met?) I showed him the problem and mentioned that we also had a leaking faucet in our other toilet. His labor quote was over $200.00 (I forget the exact amount). I also mentioned that the toilet that was not always flushing and needed to be plunged. He added an additional $75.00 to the $200.00 + for snaking the commode. After he had finished in the first bathroom, he told me that he could not repair the faucet in the second bathroom and that I needed to buy a new faucet. I said I would. He told me to let him know when I had purchased the faucet. He left after approximately forty-five minutes of his arrival. He had not billed me at this point. I went to Lowes and purchased an on-sale Pfister for approximately $120.00. When I came back home, I used the toilet that he had repaired, and the lever became stuck, which caused the commode to continue to run. I manually dealt with it and made note to inform the repairman. When the repairman came to install the faucet, I told him about the lever becoming stuck. He responded, “You should have told me before.” I told him, truthfully, that it hadn’t happened before. He said it needed replacement parts to the lever, which he had in his truck. He installed the new parts. Then he installed the faucet. Total cost $393.25. Let me repeat that: $393.25. I paid while reprimanding myself for my foolishness. This is not over: Within five days of the service, I’m plunging the toilet. I get that . . . I’m a fool. Within seven days of the service, it’s discovered that the sink is leaking. It appears to be the drain of the newly installed faucet. We remove everything from under the sink and call Metro Rooter. We asked for a different repair man to be sent. We are told -- led to believe -- that it will be repaired without charge. The new repair man arrives, examines the sink and says that the faucet is probably faulty, and that Metro Rooter is not the source of the warranty. I needed to return the faucet to Lowes and exchange it for a new one, which would be installed for $135.00. I said goodbye. (I still hoped Metro Rooter would reconsider, which is why this review may seem late.) The sink still drips. The toilet still must be plunged. We are saving for a different plumbing company to perform the repairs. I was a fool . . .

Their nighttime support staff was great and got us scheduled for the next day, a Saturday. Their technician, Rob, was wonderful! He was very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. He went the extra mile to determine what caused the problem, found the source of the problem, and fixed it within an hour. Hope we never have a problem like this again, but if we do, it's MetroRooter we'll call for sure!

My husband was in and out of the hospital at the time, 23 times to be exact. They came and pumped and told me the pump had to be replaced. I had them come back to install the new pump. . (4 years ago) $260.00 for the pump out, not bad- $425.00 to change out a $100.00 pump. 2 days later the pumps not working again. Mind you I'm working 12 hours a day and living at the hospital in my off time. Call them back out, the man comes to the door tells me it was the breaker, charges me another $80.00 to flip my breaker. I asked him why it tripped the breaker, I was told that was an electrical problem and not his job. I told him the old pump never tripped the breaker. He said call an electrician. No time for this crap... 4 years later the pumps shot again. I'll update this after I get a different company out here to pump and replace the AGAIN!

In the end the guy ended up not putting plumber tape on the hose connecting to the tank. When we woke up the next morning our bathroom had 2" of water. We called and they refused to clean and dry the mess, this ended up warping our bathroom cabinets and soaking our carpet. They did send someone out who actually fitted the toilet right and got it all sealed up but the fact they refused to take ownership for their mistake and clean up the mess is unprofessional. It has also caused damage to my bathroom. Stay away from this company I will never use them again nor will I recommend them.

Response from Metro-Rooter
Our technician went on a service call to the [Member Name Removed] residence at [Member Information Removed] on 12/3/15. He cleared a main line and reset a toilet using parts supplied by the owner. The total charge was $327.00. At 8:55 the following morning (12/4/15) Mrs. [Member Name Removed] called to tell us there had been a problem—they had discovered a small amount of water on the floor by the toilet after our tech left the day before at 3:22 PM. Instead of calling us back when they saw the water Mr. [Member Name Removed] reported to us that he chose to “tighten everything as much as he could”. In the morning, Mr. [Member Name Removed] reported, they woke to a flooded bathroom. Our Plumbing Manager offered to immediately come assess the situation but was told the owner would not be home until 6:00 PM. At 1:00 PM our Plumbing Manager again called to see if he could come earlier than 6:00. Mr. [Member Name Removed] said he would pick up some plumbers' tape and put it on himself. He told our Plumbing Manager he had mainly originally called to see if we do water extraction. (We do not.) Our Plumbing Manager again offered to come out to assess the situation. At 2:06, our Plumbing Manager again spoke to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] who said she “thought the toilet was set improperly”. Our Plumbing Manager again requested to come assess the job. At 3:02 Mrs. [Member Name Removed] texted our Plumbing Manager to say she would be home between 5:30 and 6:00. Our Plumbing Manager met Mrs. [Member Name Removed] at approx. 6:00 PM. He found the supply tube to the toilet was shut off. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] showed him some old water marks on the vanity beside the toilet. It was apparent this had occurred at a time significantly prior to any current events. We did send a plumber the following day to install a new supply line, reset the toilet, and check the seal just to be sure. This was done at no charge. Mr. & Mrs. [Member Name Removed], on the phone and in person always seemed to be very nice people. We wish we would have been informed that they had a problem when they noticed it, and allowed us to fix it as we could have prevented any subsequent issues the [Member Name Removed] family had. We are perplexed why Mr. or Mrs. [Member Name Removed] gave us all F’s on the evaluation as we earnestly tried in every way to help them.

We called on Saturday of Labor Day weekend because they had a 24 hour Emergency Service listed. Although Metro-rooter was not the first place we called, all the others listed on Angies List as 24 hour service did not answer their phone. We left messages for the others, when we got to this number they answered the phone. They said they were very busy but could fit us in in the afternoon, which they did and we were very pleased. He was very nice, professional and honest, and explained what was wrong (alarm had gone bad and was going off without a reason). He even said it was optional to replace the alarm, that some people choose not to have an alarm at all. We chose to replace the alarm, and he had one with him, he replaced it and charged a reasonable amount. We were very, very pleased with this service. We would definitely recommend.

Description of Work: Septic Tank Pump Out Services
I made the mistake of not getting additional quotes and am now regretting it. My experience with metro-rooter was sub-par. High pressure (sales) tactics to have additional services performed. For example, I was initially told the sewer line from the house would need to be replaced within a year. That quickly changed to six months, then a month, then a possibly a week or two. Needless to say, the sewer line is fine nearly four months later. Don't be tricked into anything, the plumbers work on commission. I was convinced to rebuild all three toilets, only to find out later that it would have been cheaper to simply have the toilets replaced. The stops installed in sinks have already broke. Don't be tricked, the plumbers work on commission.

I called Metro Rooter on a Sunday, who gave me a quote and said there was 1 ahead if me and it would be just a couple of hours . They would call me to let me know when they were on their way. This was 11am. I called back at 3 and was told very rudely it takes time and they will call. I asked if they were for sure coming and was told yes. I called back at 5 and was told I will be called . I explained it had been 6 hours, she said she would check. She came back and said I would get a call in 45 min. At 6:30 , I was called and asked if I needed a quote , I told her I was given a quote and was still waiting. She said she would check. Called back and said the truck had broke down and not sure if they would get to me. Called back at 7 and said they could come in the AM After 1 customer at 11, they had to have known well before 7:00 that we would not get service. It took 8 hours for them to tell us, after I called to check multiple times. I will never use this company !

I contacted this company before for a similar issue. The tech called before arriving, arrived on time, and was able resolve the issue quickly. The only thing that I could see that could have been improved was a little more attention to clean-up after but given that I had been unsuccessfully trying to fix it myself first, I can't fault the tech for that. I have used this company on two previous occasions and have been very happy with the work that they do and the price is reasonable to the point where I am kicking myself for having tried to fix it myself rather then call them first and wasting the better part of a perfectly good Saturday. Highly recommended.

We had just finished a major renovation of a 45-year-old home, including two new bathrooms and a new kitchen. Within a day of moving in, the entire sewage system began backing up. Attempts to root the main line failed, and the plumbers who tried said it felt like they were running into sand. Metro came out the next morning and had the same result. The technician then spent four hours digging up the line outside, only to find that it ended about twenty feet from the house. It appeared that someone had dug up the main sewer line and broken it during the construction of a new addition on the house. The problem was finding the other end of the sewer line, which apparently was at least 15 feet away and could have been in a large area. After nearly 5 hours of work, he offered to take his initial estimate for the work--about $150--which he had given long before we realized the extent of the work to be done. We insisted he charge his hourly rate instead. The technician came back the next day with TV equipment so he could trace the sewer line from the street, which is about 200 feet away. He finally found the other broken end and then dug it up so that he could connect the line. I have nothing but praise for this company and for the professionalism and persistence of their employees. I used them again for a minor problem and had the same experience.

Upon identifying actual cause and severity of septic problem we took bids to replace entire septic system and bring new system up to current codes. Metro Rooter was not the least expensive nor the highest however they offered to manage the entire process for permits, plumbing, securing a electrical contractor and install the entire system. It was a massive undertaking since the old system had to be dug up and removed and I am very pleased with every phase of Metro's process. The gave me proper expectations on timing throughout the entire process from Dan Coates, the ladies in their office to their equipment operator Hank and installer / plumber Mike who were over the top on quality of workmanship and especially pride in their workmanship all the way from the 1st shovel load of dirt to laying the last piece of sod. I would not wish this project to any of my neighbors but if they need to do anything with septic or plumbing I will highly recommend Metro Rooter. Tand T Mandarin

The Metro-Rooter guy (Rick) was very personable, but kind of a salesman as he bumped the quoted price up from $131 for the disposal (Badger 50) + $151 labor = $282 to around $330 or $340 because he needed to replace a couple very old and rotten iron pipes that had holes starting in them with PVC. Rick had all the parts and equipment needed and set up his work space very professionally. He was very fast and got the disposal replaced and the other part re-piped in less than an hour. My final bill came to $370. Didn't argue - just went ahead and paid it - figuring and quot;live and learn.and quot; At least it's fixed and I don't have to take another day off. Can't imagine how much more it would have cost if he had fixed my other plumbing issues. Didn't even bring it up. On a side note: I've used Metro-Rooter many times before and received much better pricing with outside plumbing problems. Was having a re-occuring problem several years ago with my drains getting clogged and they fixed it so there is a pipe/outtake on the outside of the house where it can be flushed out when needed, which was very labor intensive. This required searching for the pipes, digging amd trouble shooting. For that project they only charged around $400 and that took hours, and has completely solved that problem. They would have received an A+ for that whole project. All in all - their guys are usually good at what they do and I would hire them to do something major like re-piping or finding leaks outside (they also have done that for me) but probably not for the smaller things like sink or toilet issues as they are pricey for that type work. Maybe all plumbers are though - might be a more suitable job for a handyman. Kind of over-kill for plumber's resources. Meanwhile after and quot;googlingand quot; my other plumbing issues it seems they may be easily and inexpensively solved by a few parts from Home Depot. Wish me luck. LOL!
Description of Work: Had been communicating with John at Metro Rootor several times this week via e-mail as I work during the day and it is hard to talk on the phone. Originally, I wanted to get the garbage disposal replaced, have two outside leaking faucets fixed and have a leaky tiolet fixed. I was quoted a price of around $442 if everything was "normal", but my house is old and nothing has ever been "normal" if you know what I mean. Fearing that $442 estimate would turn into something much more I asked if I could purchase the garbage disposal at Home Depot myself (it costs $99.00 and Metro charges $131 for it) and was told if I did that the labor just to replace the disposal would be around $151, which seemed more reasonable. I then asked if they could come out on Friday since I was off anyway that day, but never heard back. Since I didn't hear back from them I was thinking of calling another plumber for another estimate. (I contacted Eagerton on Monday via their e-mail form for a service quotes, but still have not heard back from them.) Also explored the types of disposals and was considering moving to the Waste King product as they are supposed to be very easy to install and have a 5-year warranty. Had other workers coming for other issues this day, so just decided to wait until they were done and then figure out what to do with the plumbing . To my surprise around 10:00 am on Friday I got a call from the dispatcher that Metro could send someone out. Decided to just let them come and do it as it looked to be too complicated for me to do myself and I already had the day off which is hard for me to do and costs me money to be off.

Only used them to pump out septic tank and that went OK . I think you need to be careful in terms of any plumbing or septic system replacement because they are too expensive and do thingd that may not be necessary .
Description of Work: Initial service to pump septic tank was ok although after service commodes did not flush as well , felt that gravity pull was off. We knew we ne4eded a new drain field and they told us when we were ready they would come out and measure for thr permit and work and that if it was within 6 months, we would not have to pay again to have the tank pumped out, it would be complimentary if needed. I called about 4 months and spoke to their office secretary who informed me that the lady that I had spoken to prior that had sent me the letter stated the tank would not have to be pumped out again was no longer with them. She checked with the man who services the St John's county area where we live and he also had never heard of such a thing. She pulled our file and also indicted that the gentlemen that had been out to our house had noted that our Septic Tank was in terrible condition and needed replacement too . I found this strange because my husband indicated that he had only dug up places to do the pumping and could not tell that from what he had done. The lady on the phone said we needed a whole new system, drain field, septic tank , hool-up, removal of the old septic drain field debris. She gave me the price for the permitting which she indicated was higher in St Johns County and extimated that in addition to the permit our cost would be around 10,000.00 I called another A Angie's List Septic Tank Company. They put in a new drain field , made a small repair to the Tank Cover at no additional cost & even put in a bigger drain field also at no additional cost . They pulled the permit for $75.00 less & were here to meet the Health Inspectors & everything went smoothly & we ended up paying $ 3,800 Plus the permit which saved us 6,200,00. They also did not leave a mess in our yard like Metro-Rooter did in our neighbors yard . They even grated the sand/dirt back in place over the septic drain . Metro-rooter was recommended to us by two friends and a business associate but I personally think they are too expensive and do more than is nee4ded to inflate their profit.
