KINGSWOOD BUILDERS INC

This project went well until the roof was torn off and replaced. The new roof was not built to plan and ended up leaking. It was built as a flat roof rather than with a pitch. We gave Mr. Green plenty of time to rectify the situation and when he did nothing we refused to pay the final payout. At this point, Mr. Green sued us. We ended up paying to finish the job with other contractors. Kingswood Builders lost the lawsuit in 2003 and has yet to pay us the final judgment costs! This is a man who can look a judge in the face and tell him he will drop off the money owed us and then do nothing. He has a hard time working with women and does not keep his word. Mr. Green believes he can do inferior work (leaking roof) and should be paid to do so. Kingswood Builders uses the court system freely costing us lawyers' fees, witness fees and generally wasting everyones time. Yet, when the judgment is against him, he does not comply with a court order. Don not hire Kingswood Builders.

Instead of taking nine months, the job took fourteen months. Kingswood could not get sub-contractors for weeks at a time. Job cost was over $100,000 above original estimate. Quality of work was spotty. Some subs were outstanding, others were completely bad. Some subs used illegal immigrants and worked only nights and weekends. I had to do most supervision myself in order to get good quality work and actually had to perform some work and purchase some materials myself as contractor could not. At the end of this cost-plus project, Kingswood attempted to bill me for an additional $10,000 for his high contractors fee for material I had purchased and work I had performed or had done under a separate contract! When I refused to pay, he sued me for the $10,000 and refused all offers of settlement and mediation. I discovered by looking on the Clerk of the Circuit Court web site that he has several times sued his clients after being fired from a job or quitting the job. He seems to believe that once a contract is signed, he is entitled to full payment even if work isn't done. After two years, the judge who heard the case ruled in my favor as has happened in all of the other cases he has brought against his clients. He currently has a case in court where he had sued his client after he quit the job! He has been sued for not paying bills in the past and had Internal Revenue Service liens against him for a number of years. Bob Green seems well educated and business like at first, but do not be fooled. He cannot work with women and will cut corners and take you to court if things don't go his way.
