I noticed that he cashed my deposit check a couple of days later. I called him and told him I was surprised that he cashed the check and he told me that that it was because he had already bought materials. I insisted that he keep the materials and just give me my money back. He said that he was not going to do that.
Description of Work: He gave a free estimate to build shelves in my closets and took a $300 deposit before the work was started. He gave me an invoice and I had questions about the design. Before the work was started I had questions and I called him to clarify and asked him to come back out and take some more measurements so we would both be on the same page before the work was done. He said he wasn't going to come back out and waste his time doing more measurements. I said that was fine and that I would not use him.

I went to her residence upon her request to bid some closet work she wanted. After speaking with (member name removed) extensively about the design she wanted, I gave her a written invoice of the cost for labor and material, which she agreed to, and I received a material deposit of $300. with the balance due upon completion. a couple days later I cashed her check and picked up the materials, brought them back to my shop to mill the wood for her closets. She called me about the time I started and told me she had changed her mind on the design, I was unable to understand the changes she wanted to make, I informed (member name removed) I could come again, but there would be an additional cost for another estimate. I am more than happy to finish our original agreement ,or if she can explain it to me and its not much different from our original agreement, I'm willing to do that. But this is why I require a material deposit, so I'm not stuck with material out of my pocket when someone changes the plan. It takes time and gas to gather materials, and my time is worth something!
