I recently used House Doctors Construction LLC to replace a hurricane damaged roof and repair water damage to ceilings. In the process I had them remove popcorn from all the ceiling throughout the house and replace it with knockdown texture. Needless to say, it was a lot of work to be done. As far as time, the roof was replaced in 2 days and the interior work was completed in less than a week. On the day of completion of the ceiling, I was advised to "take my time cleaning up." It took me over a week to sand patched areas of wall, repaint 2 rooms and wipe the film off all the walls. The subcontractor had also cracked a toilet tank and 2 wood transition strips (I believe caused by a ladder being placed in small spaces.) It took 3 weeks to replace said items because I had to purchase the replacement toilet, order the bamboo transition strips and wait for a friend to install all. I feel fortunate to receive the small $233.80 reimbursement check. The owner of the company (Kiet Nguyen) initially felt it was the subcontractor's responsibility to make the situation right. This brings me to my roof. After completion of my new roof, it started leaking in a new area during a rainstorm that occurred a couple of weeks later. The repair consisted of replacing a flashing that had not been replaced during the installation of the new roof! I know new flashing was paid for...why wasn't it used? The roof was patched and leaked again a couple of weeks later. On August 1, 2017, the roof was finally properly repaired with new flashing!
Description of Work: I recently used House Doctors Construction LLC to replace a hurricane damaged roof and repair water damage to the ceiling of the kitchen. Since the kitchen is open to the great room, that ceiling needed to be done also.

Painting took much longer than they indicated it would, had to come back multiple times to paint areas that they missed or had done poorly, mediocre job at best, and worst of all they used tape on our hardwood floors when they put down drip paper that stripped the finish off of the floors! Now having to refinish them to repair the damage. The "project manager" who has no project management skills whatsoever, rarely if ever showed up for meetings at the agreed upon time, and we constantly had to re-answer questions from her that we had previously answered in person or by email. When they came in to redo the electrical in the rental apartment downstairs, they put in wall plugs without asking, which now have to be moved based upon our remodeling plans. Paid them $1,500 for "blueprints to submit for the remodeling permits", and what we received were nothing close to professional grade. We asked them to put together bids for replacing our old interior doors and front windows, and had to ask multiple times to see the breakdown on their proposed pricing; when we finally did receive a breakdown we saw immediately why they were balking at giving us the detail as they had marked up the windows and labor by 40% profit. We fired them that day. Bottom line, they didn't do what they said, they did shoddy work, and they stepped up to do things that they had no experience doing.
