Description of Work: We were getting estimates for a landscape overhaul. Hickory Creek came out and gave us a base price with a rough drawing at no charge, while other companies would not come out unless we paid a consulting fee to provide a detailed landscaping plan. A detailed plan was an option with Hickory as well. We are planning to use them in the winter/spring to implement our changes.

Description of Work: Hickory redid the landscaping in our front and side yard (which faces a street). This was a very special project for me as I love plants and nature and had waited a long time for this opportunity. Troy worked very closely with me and I felt like I was truly a respected part of the team. (Troy and I worked together on the design.) I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the outcome was even better than I had envisioned. When I was unsure of what would be best Troy gave me great ideas. He has a thorough understanding of plants and landscaping (35 yrs experience). Most of his team has been with him for many years and they were great to work with. They removed all the old landscaping, took out sod, replanted, put in edging, river rock around the house, mulch and revamped the irrigation system to make sure the whole yard was adequately covered. I could not have been more pleased. Also the quality of the plants were great. The results are beautiful. If you call Hickory in springtime when everyone else is doing projects also just expect to wait, but once it's your turn you will get all of their attention.

Hickory Creek Nursery did a wonderful job at a very good price. They came to listen to me in order to draw up a formal landscaping plan. When they came to do the installation they were flexible in tweaking things as we went along. They are a family run operation and they were very good. I was very pleased and have recommended them to several of my neighbors.

Troy, owner and operator of Hickory Creek Nursery came at the agreed time for a walk through to determine what work needed to be done. He scheduled his appointment for our convenience and was on time. Troy took the time to listen to what we wanted and gave suggestions. This was a big deal as we had other nurseries come out and give us drawings that did not even come close to the shape of the garden and whose plants were not close to what we wanted. We know nothing about plants or gardens but are very specific on what we wanted to see. Troy was nice and helpful, relaxed and knowledgeable. Later we met Troy at his nursery which was beautiful and I recommend anyone who is interested in Hickory Creek Nursery making the trip. At that meeting, the day before the job was to be done, we changed multiple plants. Troy was easy to work with and had no problem with our last minute changes. Troy's crew along with troy showed up and did the scheduled work without issue. His crew was made up of a handful of really hard working good people. I felt very relaxed being home alone with them working all around the house. One of his employees has been friends with Troy since high school. I spent some time in the yard speaking to them and watching the changes take place. At one point I left the house to go to the gym, Troy made a couple decisions on boarder grass in the front garden that we had not decided on together. We decided to wait and put the boarder grass down in pots and see how it looked before deciding to use it. Troy took the liberty of planting the boarder grass...and I loved it. He has a great eye and knew exactly the look I was going for and knew at a glance, the boarder grass was needed. After the job was done we walked the grounds with Troy and loved everything we saw. They did a fantastic job! The next day the lighting that was installed did not work so I spoke with Troy over the phone and he offered to come right out and repair anything related to the lighting. He did as promised and the lighting is working great now! A week later the only thing negative-ish that we noticed was that the areas mulched were done so very thin and we are already seeing more dirt than mulch in some areas so we will have to go buy more mulch. I did not tell Troy I wanted 3 inches deep of mulch, but I didn't expect it to wash away in the sprinklers either. Also, in fairness, we never contacted Troy about the depth of mulch to give him an opportunity to address it; we just decided right way to do it ourselves as a weekend project as its no big deal and easier than having him drive the 30 minutes one way just for mulch. And thats not all that bad considering all Troy and his team accomplished. I would use them again and I would highly recommend Hickory Creek Nursery.
Description of Work: Hickory Nursery removed front lawn and re sodded, also removed the entire front garden including hedges, plants, flowers and edging. They redesigned the shape of the garden and planted new plants, hedges and flowers that were more conducive to what we wanted to see and what grows well in this area. They removed bricks which were framing gardens on the side of the property as well and re-sodded that area. They removed about 1/2 of the lawn in the backyard and re sodded that area as well. They replanted some plants which were removed from the front garden to surround a red-bud tree in the backyard. They removed three trees in the backyard as well as replanted one to the side front of the yard. Hickory Creek also installed lighting throughout our backyard in areas that received no light. They also installed the timing box and educated us on the use to set the timer as needed. They verified our sprinklers were working properly and hitting the areas needed. They laid chocolate mulch in all areas needed and cleaned the yard of any debris.

See above comments. The job went very well---we selected our own plants and reviewed every detail of the plan. The team restructured the entire sprinler system and drainage system to accommodate the new plan (much more work than we had anticipated) but did it "right".
Description of Work: We had an excellent experience! Troy, the owner, was great to work with as well as his crew. All work was done as scheduled, on time . The job was to remove old landscaping and design and install new plan including completely revamping drainage and sprinkler system. Again, the products and work were excellent and we ended up with a beautiful new yard. We would recommend them without question.

The crew or 3 showed up on time and installed the plants according to my layout which I had precisely on a spreadsheet - 1 cell was 1 sq foot. The indian hawthorns were not in line and were not evenly placed - but no real big deal though. The big deal was when they pulled out the Bottlebrush - both of them were root bound. I ask the guy about it and he said it wasn't TOO bad. He just planted it in the ground and didn't cut the roots and planted it level with the ground. One year later when all the bottlebrush plants are covered in blooms - mine are scarcely populated. I have a professional yard service the fertilizes - they say I got ripped off on the price of everything. Another landscaper told me the plants were not planted correctly in the ground - they should not be level with the ground. I am in a wheelchair and couldn't get close to the bottlebrush at the nursery due to the dirt, but when Jessica was looking at the bottlebrush at the nursery - she said "uh oh" and I didn't quiz here why she said that. Now I know it was because she saw the root bound. 1 year later - 1/2 the Azaleas are dead. The other 1/2 look pitiful. Only 1 of the 4 camelia's made it. I felt really bad when I saw the same camelia's at Home Depot for a LOT LESS!!!!! Another rip off. When the grass was delivered, it was brown. They did tell me that they would guarantee the grass past the 90 days and it eventually came back, but I had to have brown grass for 5 months. The other plants have done well. The weed mat was the real bargain - it grows weeds really well! That is no fault of Hickory Creek that I wanted that though. So I put a D for quality since the azaleas, camellias, bottlebrush and grass were an F- and the rest were B's. I am being generous I think with a C for price.
Description of Work: With help from Jessica, I picked out the following and had them installed (price includes installation) by Hickory Creek: 4 Muhly Grass (4 FT) $20.00 $80.00 3 3 Gal. Overall the experience with Hickory Creek Nursery was goodpositive. In my search for trees, I called a nursery that's actually closer to my home than Hickory Creek Nursery. That Nursery was not helpful with providing tree prices or giving an idea of what they would charge to remove the root ball of the old trees. As a matter of fact, I was told if I wanted an estimate I could try to flag one of their trucks down if I saw one in my neighborhood. Thanks for nothing "little guy" When I called Hickory Creek Nursery I was quickly given tree prices over the phone and an estimate of the charges associated with removing the existing root balls. I wasn't sure if they would deliver to my area but they said they would. I drove out the same day picked out my trees and paid. We decided on a mutually agreeable date for the install. On the date of the install they showed up and worked very hard at removing the root balls. Because the root balls were in my fenced backyard they were not able to use the big tractor and had to do a lot of hand digging. I expected to have them adjust the price of the removal because of the work involved but they didn't. They installed my new trees and were on their way. In my opinion, Hickory Creek Nursery is the epitome of the "little guy." They go the extra mile to earn your trust and your business. There is a local nursery closer to my home but I'll drive to Hickory Creek Nursery for all of my plant needs in the future.

Project was completed on time with excellent quality and professionalism. I have used Hickory Creek Nursery for almost 10 years for several landscaping projects and they always do a quality job and never fail to live up to my expectations. Troy is the owner of the company and is very easy to deal with. They always show up exactly when they say they will. Sometimes they are very busy and it might take a couple of days to get on the schedule. That's okay with me because they are worth the wait because of the quality of their work. I highly recommend Hickory Creek Nursery for all of your landscape, irrigation, and lighting projects.

As a result of winter damage and unattractive landscaping and plantings, we contacted Hickory Creek Landscaping. We had not been there in the past and went to view the nursery. We were very impressed with the quality and variety of plants and trees. The personnel were extremely patient and helpful with our landscaping questions. They gave us a detailed proposal regarding labor, plants, irrigation, etc. After working with them we knew that we would not bother with any other company; we knew we had a winner! They arrived promptly on installation day and worked industriously. We are very pleased with the outcome of the job.
Description of Work: Besides being professional and knowledgeable, it was a one-stop shopping experience. They not only laid sod, they landscaped, suggested suitable plants for areas and updated irrigation system. In every case, it was superior to what had existed on the property. The owner, Troy, and all his employees are knowledgeable and very accommodating to one's needs. Without any hesitation, I would recommend the landscaping company and their high quality plants. Pricing, of course, depends on the amount of work needed and the choice of plantings.

Description of Work: Hickory Creek came out and installed new sod for me in my back and front lawns. They also trimmed all the bushes and trees including some very tall, large palms. They were very professional and did a great job. They answer questions and will not ignore you once the job is done. They also installed my irrigation system approximately 8 years ago with the same great results.
