HELPFUL HANDYMAN

Mr. Lindahl replaced several T1-11 siding boards on my home. He responded promptly to my call, provided quick quality services at an excellent price and finished the work on schedule. What more could I ask for?

Did a decent job and for the most part, reasonable, however when I called back for some more work to be done, although he did FINALLY come out and give me estimates, he NEVER returned my calls after that. Not good business ethics or dependable. Would not use again!

I would like to begin this review by saying I would never do anything to hurt someone's business unless I truly felt obligated to do so. In the case of Jan the Helpful Handyman, I positively feel it is my responsibility to write a review about his lack of work ethic and utter lack of professionalism. My wife and I bought a foreclosure earlier this year and while the house had set vacant for nearly two years, it was still in surprisingly good shape. But, after two years of being vacant the house obviously needed some work done to it. We called Jan for an estimate and he came out and did a walk through around the house and quoted an estimate that was soon forgotten once the work began. We hired Jan because of some work he did for my wife a few years previously on her townhome. Unfortunately, the work on new home was completely unacceptable. The timeline Jan gave was a couple of weeks, and the work that is still not completed in my opinion, took more along the lines of a couple of months. The painting they did on the interior and exterior of our home was incomplete to say the least. You can still see through the coats applied and see the old paint that was there before. We already hired another painter to come out and redo the exterior painting, he took photos and recommended we take Jan to small claims court based on the shoddy work he did. If my wife hadn't lost her copy of the original estimate we would have already done so. He skimped on every aspect of the job he was hired to do. I honestly feel as though I was robbed by this man. I work two jobs to help my wife pay for the expenses in this house and I don't take it lightly when someone takes advantage of me and my family. Not only did Jan receive more money than he initially estimated, he had the audacity to ask for more money after it was obvious that he was clearly not doing the work we hired him to do. In his defense, he did offer to come and do some additional work once my wife voiced her unhappiness with his work, but at that point in time we were really not comfortable with him being in our house. Enough said.

Very expensive. Another contractor who did some finish work said he would have charged around $400 less for painting Bid against other contractors who were coming to bid or even coming with tools to do the work. This included specialties that were not on the long list on his truck. Would come in and interrupt my husband's conversations with other contractors. My husband had to redo the work in the bathroom, as they scraped too much and damaged the dry wall. Employee smelled of alcohol. Found beer in the fridge... We cannot recommend this person.
