Update.... The following Monday, Mr. Hammond called me to rectify this situation. He offered to come out personally and ensure that the work was completed correctly and to install a U/V light system at no charge due to my experience. I was very surprised by the personal nature of this and his desire to make things 'right.' I am changing my grade for Hammond A/C from a 'D' to a 'B.' I now feel that this was an isolated event and I will be calling this company for my future needs. ----------- First impression was excellent, thought that this was going to be the company that I would go to for my home's and rental property's A/C needs. However . . . . I found Hammond on Angie's List and thought they would be the perfect match for my needs to ensure my A/C was operating correctly and to get the ducts cleaned. Called them and got an appointment right away. The tech that came out for the initial appointment was AWESOME. That's where we thought that we found the right company. Everything with our A/C checked out, but as we thought, the ducts needed cleaned and were told that he would be out first thing the next morning to do the work. I was expecting them to be out "first thing" the next day and was expecting a phone call when they were on their way. Not hearing anything by 9:00 a.m., I headed over to the house. Since we were told, that they would be there "first thing," we decided to have other appointments that we needed (carpet removed, tile and grout cleaned, and painting) delayed until the afternoon so that nobody would be in their way. Unfortunately, 10:30 came and went, and I called to see where they were and were informed that they needed to go to an "emergency" call and were on there way to my house as we spoke. No problem.... However, 12:30 came and was told that they would be there in a few minutes. Unfortunately, 2:30 came and I called again and was informed that they should have been there and unfortunately, the service man was not answering his phone and they had no idea where he was. Finally, the most unprofessional guy that I've ever had do work for me showed up at about 4:00 saying that his truck had broken down and his cell phone battery was dead. No apologies were given. While he was working we asked if he could make sure that the duct area before the air handler would be cleaned and he replied in an incomprehensible manner which we figured he would take care of it. When he was complete and had already packed all of his equipment in the truck, I asked to ensure that he got the area that I mentioned, he didn't say a word and went back to his truck to get his tools to complete that task. I'M GLAD I ASKED. My frustrations are two-fold (really many-fold) ... I'm fine that there was an emergency. No problem. But a little communication goes a long way. Give me a heads-up. I wasted a whole morning and early afternoon delaying other work that was required. I could have painted a couple rooms if I would have known they were going to be late. I'm sure Mr. Hammond knows . . . "time is money." Secondly, it was very unprofessional that the tech had to use my cell phone to communicate with his office several times. There were two techs and I find it hard to believe that both of their cell phones' batteries were dead(if so, why don't they have common sense to have a cell phone charger?). That being said, I really hope they did their job correctly because, honestly, I'm not sure because I can't really check the ducts. I was offered about a $40 discount off the $520 duct cleaning cost due to my wait. Based on this experience, it would be difficult to recommend this company to others.

Yesterday afternoon I looked up Hammond Air Conditioning here on Angie's List and called Tammy at Hammond Air. I explained the problem and also told her that I wanted to use one of the coupons that they offered on Angie's List. She was really great about it. She asked if she could have a technician at my home tomorrow morning between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon. I told her to take her time if they were busy and that I could wait until a technician was free. She told me, "We do not want you to be in 92 degree weather for too long" and promised that she would have a technician at or home between those hours. Paul (the tech) arrived on time and promptly found the problem and repaired it. Paul very carefully went through the whole air conditioning system. I was so impressed with the time that he took and how he made sure that he checked each individual part of the system. I assumed that since I was using Hammond Air Conditioning's Air Conditioner Tune Up coupon that they would rush through the repair and Tune Up but I was totally wrong! After Paul went through the whole system and wrote up the completed work order he said, "I understand that you will be using one of our coupons from Angie's List". My point here is that Paul knew all along that I was using a coupon and he still inspected each part of the system and did not rush through the job! What a professional! I could not be happier with Tammy, Paul and Hammond Air Conditioning. What a great company with some super employees. I will definitely use Hammond Air Conditioning again and recommend them to all of our neighbors and friends. Perfect job and a great experience.
Description of Work: Home air conditioner (compressor) stopped working. Paul came out and found that the high voltage wire had arced. He replaced the wire and tested for correct voltage which was fine after his repairs.

Brandon came out, was thoroughly professional, fixed the problem, and was honest about the current status of the system but said I would get a few more years out of it - did not try to sell me a new system, which I appreciated. I would use Hammond A/C again.
Description of Work: Air conditioning went out late afternoon on a Saturday. Called 3 A rated Angie's List providers. Received call backs from 2. Service call for a Sunday was $45.00 less with Hammond A/C. Came out on time Sunday morning. Fixed the a/c with a new capacitor. I'd had an a/c check up in June by Florida Air who said the capacitor would need replacement but the service tech was busy trying to sell me on a new system so I put it off. His price was $100 more than Hammond ultimately charged.

There was a little problem with timing the appointment. That was mainly because of my work schedule we had to reschedule. Once the technician arrived it went rather quickly. I described the problem giving necessary details of what was going with my unit. I even told the technician Paul, what I thought the problem was. After listening to my description of problem he immediately went inside portion for my unit and found what the problem really was. My unit is now cooling properly without wrecking my wallet.
Description of Work: I had problem with my air conditioner not cooling properly. It would run good for about 2 or 3 hours then it would run with out cooling. If I shut it down for about an hour then restart it, the system would run good again for a while.

On July 3rd I called this company regarding a problem I was having with my rental home's a/c unit leaking water all over the floor and into a room which the carpet has now been ruined by the water damage. I was given a call back within a few minutes and was told by Brandon Hammond, the owner, that someone would be out within 30 minutes. My tenant called me 3 hours later stating that no one had showed up. I called the company again and was told that they had me on the list for that night and were working into the night to get all their jobs done. No one called or showed up. I ended up having to go out on the Fourth of July to deal with this problem myself. I would not recommend this company due to poor communication and unprofessional conduct that now has caused me water damage and loss of carpet in a hole room. If they were not able to come out I would have appreciated them letting me know and I would have called someone else to handle this problem. Instead I was told they would be out, twice in one night, and no one ever showed up or called me. Very unprofessional! Unacceptable!

We were called out to (deleted member name) rental home March of this year and found the tenant had not changed filter causing system to freeze up and drip water. The existing system is old so there were other problems; we quoted prices and performed repairs. After the call we sent several invoices to (deleted member name) but were never paid for work performed. She called us back on July 3rd (four months later) complaining of water dripping from unit again. Water dripping from air handler is usually caused by neglecting to change filters which is very common in rental properties and related to original call in March. We discussed the issue of nonpayment; (deleted member name) claimed said she never received a bill Even with a previous bill unpaid I agreed to send a technician HOPING we could resolve current problem and collect past money due. Two technicians were dispatched the evening of July 3rd, the 1st around 5:30pm and the second around 8pm, both times the tenant failed to answer door. At this point it looks as (deleted member name) complaint is we did not handle a service call when tenant neglected to answer door on two different occasions. In addition we were never paid for original work performed. It seems if (deleted member name) wanted to avoid her financial obligations she could do so without publicly ripping our company apart on Angie’s List. We try to do our best and realize we cannot please everyone but to be upset at us based on the events leading up her complaint seems questionable at best. Showed up first day with wrong unit. Then on Monday had the correct unit and proceeded to install the unit. Very workmen like, very professional, everything went well except a small glitch with the condensation line. They returned right away and fixed the problem. Very nice gentlemen.

Punctual & professional. Found problem quickly. Replaced faulty component. I understand "mark up" for replacement parts, but I think 400% is a bit much. I also think the replacement part was presented as "Made in America" to justify the high price. Would not recommend to family or friend.

The morning of 6/13 [member name removed] was on our board for both 6/13 and 6/18. We dispatched his call as normal but asked the scheduled technician to verify appointment. Our technician called [member name removed] at 8am on the 13th to let him know we were ready to head his way but he was double booked, we wanted to verify the 6/13 date. Before we could explain the appointment was not being canceled he became very upset, beyond what is normal or appropriate. My technician politely got off the phone and called the office to ask how to proceed. Based on his conversation with our technician and a previous unpleasant experience with [member name removed] we decided it was in both parties best interest for him to call another company. They were pretty OK. They came within a couple of days that we called them. I ended up paying another $500 and I think they still did not resolve the issue. They came out and looked at it and they said that I need to have one of the dampers changed and that it's going to resolve my issues. They replaced that and even fine-tuned it. Then the air from the ducts made a loud noise which was not there before. And that was the purpose of the damper, to control the airflow so that there is no excessive air in the ducts. They told me that with replacing the damper I will get my cooling back and actually I realized now what they did, was that they just directed everything to those ducts instead of the damper doing the job. So whenever I get the air now in, it makes a loud noise. You might get a little bit of extra airflow sometimes, but it's noisier and it is unbearable at times. I thought I am not going to call them again. I feel that no-one is going to fix the issues that I have. They were responsive. UPDATE: Owner of the company called to addressthis issue. he came out and inspected the system. Headjusted the dampnera bit and recommended to change the same (installed by them last year) at no cost. He later on send two techs who came and repalced it. I have no issues after this. So I am upgrading the review

In our records (deleted member name) expressed that he was satisfied with our service. Since the initial service we have not been back to (deleted member name) home or had any calls expressing any concerns with work performed. We warranty all our work and would have been happy to return, free of charge, to make any adjustments or repairs necessary had we been informed of a problem. I have contacted (deleted member name) and set an appointment for 6/26 to inspect work performed and nature of air flow problem. If there is anything we did wrong I will handle it 100% free of charge. The review on Angie’s list was our only notice that there has been a problem at this customer’s home. I called Hammond A/C only after our usual AC company said they were unable to come when we needed them to due to such short notice, unless it was an emergency. So I searched Angie?s list for an alternative and found Hammond. The person I spoke to on the phone from Hammond was very nice and set up my appointment for the very next day, which is the time frame we needed. The service tech (Paul) made it out to us on time and was very pleasant and personable and was very knowledgeable about his trade. He diagnosed our problem, left to pick up the part and returned to make the repairs all within that same day. We were grateful for this because the following day our house was to be full with family and friends to celebrate a graduation. We will definitely use Hammond A/C again. I was glad to be able to find them on Angie?s list

Update: 1. This has been the Air Conditioner/Heater from h***. It started from day one and I did not make the connection. When they installed the unit it would not run (on installation day) but they contacted the local Rheims dealer and they pulled a circuit board out of a new warehouse unit and sent it to the installation site. So failure one right out of the box. 2. Within the first year the unit stopped working and Hammond repaired it for free...bypass valve frozen. Of course it failed in the middle of summer so I was without A/C for 4 days. 3. Just has the third failure on the unit...the condenser was cracked and refrigerant was low causing...,.you guessed it a frozen valve again....and once again (Sept-Hot). The Condenser was covered under warranty but Hammond charged me $208 (for the service call and to thaw the valve and then $400+ to install the condenser. 4. I called and talked to Hammond and found no sympathy from him...his comment "It is an industry leader, well respected and he did not understand why I was having all these problems...they should not be happening and hopefully this will fix the problem. This unit was his recommendation and when it works if great....but I have had to replace almost every component in the air handler in the first two years....and now it looks like everything else is going to be on my nickel....not what I expected out of a "A" provider...especially for $7K...I could have got a bad unit installed for half the cost. Old Review: 1. I would have given Hammond a B+ for pricing but a B would have been too low. For what the accomplished and the quality of their work it was a good price for their effort. They were not the lowest bid, but their work stands for itself and you should be willing to pay for the quality. They found all rebates (FPL and Manufacturer) that saved me @ $2K from their bid price. 2. The installed a top of the line Rheem Comfort Control2 system heat pump unit with dual stage heat pump and dual speed Air Handler fan that is rated at 16 SERE. The also floor mounted the air handler on a custom base so that it no longer was hanging on the wall...making the air handler much quieter, so now all we hear is air through the ducts not the fan in the garage. The increased the air handler supply and return ducts from 14 and 16 inches to 20 inches to increase air flow to the spider boxes. The also moved the master bedroom duct from being last on the distribution tree to being first and increased the piping to the master bedroom by 2 inches. The also installed an new return in the master bedroom thus increasing both supply and return to the master bedroom and ensuring that it is sleep-able in both dead of winter and summer. 3. The committed to an installation date and they showed up at their 9AM start (actually 15 minutes early) and finished at 6:30PM that night. 4. Their bidding process was the best of 5 companies that I had show up for a bid. First, like all but one company, they looked at the whole system and all companies made similar decisions/recommendations. Where Hammond excelled is that they also wanted to ensure that I was not buying too big of a unit. All companies told me that I had a 4 Ton unit with 3 Ton vent piping so something was out of balance. Hammond took the diminutions of the house and the number of windows in the house and calculated that I needed a 3.6T unit. This meant that the adding additional size vent piping would not be wasted and would ensure that the HP was fully functional. No other company calculated requirements...they were willing to assume that the original calculations were accurate. 5. After the installation (extremely cool beginning of May) we did not have to run the A/C. On Saturday, 5 days later, we started using the A/C and on Sunday we got a Air Handler error, call for service. The Rheem monitors the system and generates error messages for both to HP and the Air Handler on the inside control unit. We called and talked to Hammond on Monday and their Tech showed up Monday PM to fix the problem. The circuit board in the Air Handler was bad and Rheem did not have a replacement. On Tue Rheem agreed to pull the board from a new unit so it could be installed in my unit. Electronics fail...usually if it last over 30 days it will last a long time...it is the first 30 days that new things fail. I do not fault Hammond (they fixed it) or Rheem (they provided the part)...it was fixed quickly and effectively. ****Overall a great experience...I have a new 16 SERE unit that is efficient, quiet and provides greater cooling then the previous unit. I could have got a new unit cheaper but not with the same craftsman installation and quality unit...it is a thing of beauty. .

(member name removed) contacted us February 2013 to schedule a system inspection and tune-up for her Air Conditioning system. Her equipment was in good working order, but she wanted to have it cleaned and tuned-up for the coming summer months. Unfortunately, we were unable to schedule her for immediate service. We save same day and next day calls for emergency service repairs where equipment is not working. Generally, when equipment is in good working order and customer is calling to have a tune-up and cleaning, we will schedule this call a few days to a week out depending on how busy we are at that time. I hate to see something like this happen for we work very hard to provide a professional environment for our customers. My sister, Tammy, has managed the office for years and our customers love her. She runs a professional office and I am very proud of the work she does on a daily basis. One thing we will never claim is to be perfect, but we will always give you our very best…and we work very hard to make our best better than the rest. Please take the time to look over some of the other reviews we have had through the years and keep in mind less than 1% of our customers respond. An unhappy customer is 3 to 4 times more likely to comment; this should give you some idea of how few overall complaints we have. I hate that we let (member name removed) down and would like to offer her a free complete system Tune-up and cleaning at her convenience. This offer will not expire. AC work was performed on a Middleburg - Black Creek double-wide up on brick supports 4 - 5 ft elevated with main AC duct work underneath. Tropical Storm Debbie (June 2012) flooded the property up to within 6 inches of DW floor. All AC duct work was flooded. Mold grew in duct work and duct insulation was destroyed. AC unit was marginally flooded and was old, so it needed to be replaced, as well. Brandon Hammond promptly came out and thoroughly inspected property. He quickly came up with several different options / quotations. He provided complete written repair quotation documentation as this was needed due to property insurance requirements. We chose to replace AC unit and clean, treat, seal and re-insulate duct. His 2 man crew came out and repaired the duct in one day, as well as help me, the owner, move my chicken coup up onto my trailer. Very Nice young men! His next 5 man crew came out 2 days later and replaced the AC unit and plenum. I used to install AC units in North Texas as I worked my way through college so I've been around a lot of AC people. These guys are exceptional! Fast, efficient, thorough, knowledgeable and very respectful / friendly. Brandon, you've got a great team, you should be proud. I highly recommend Hammond AC!

Hammonds crew was on time, nice folks, finished a bit early, and cleaned up every last scrap of anything and hauled it out. Installation very neat and professional looking. All my questions were answered, Brandon Hammonds has answered my emails promptly. All in all, highly pleased. In every way I felt as if I was dealing with a honest and solid company. I guess I should mention that anyone looking at a job like this should take the time to research the equipment being proposed. In this case, on the Bryant website, I learned of rebates being available, which Hammonds did not know about. There is no way he was scheming to retain it, as Bryant will not give it to him to net out in the price, they will only give it to the end consumer. This rebate is $415, not spare change at all. Hammonds should have been aware I think and maybe would have caught it later. That was the only negative. At any rate, always do your own research. The pluses of the experience far outweigh this minus. We took bids from 5 companies and Hammonds by far gave us the best feeling. 2 of these outfits I could not get out the door fast enough, a third was insanely high, and the 4th just bad-mouthed the 2 stage concept, then could not understand why I would not hire him (extensive research says the 2 stage is a well-proven and effective concept). He wanted me to install a $4800 13 seer Goodman and I knew I did not want that.
Description of Work: Replaced entire system, 12 years old and broke down. We have had issues with humidity in the house and in researching that, found recommendations to go to a '2 stage compressor' unit. We got a quote from a local large company at $9350 for a 16 seer Carrier system. Hammonds quoted exact same thing in Bryant at $6725 (net $6310 after a Bryant rebate). Research says Bryant and Carrier are same company, and products are made on same line differing only in the emblem applied the end. Saw this claim over and over, not one site saying it was untrue. So we got the Bryant. What little we have used it so far, has been impressive. Very quiet, the heat is actually hot like a furnace, and the Aux was not on. Ran A/C for a little bit and have 48 degree air. This 2 stage runs at 60% and 100%. Most of the time it will run at 60%, using was less power, and putting the air over the coil more often, thus knocking out humidity more. If it cannot keep up, it will ramp up to 100%, which it should do only at peak demand. I guess I will not be able to offer a complete review until July or so, but I feel really good about this thing.

Description of Work: we hired this company to do maintenance on our air conditioning and they did a good job in fact we signed a contract for yearly service. Last month we called and made an appointment for them to come and service the air conditioner - they never showed up or called. We called and made another appointment again they never showed up or called - we are now trying to cancel our contract !!!

We had a 10-12 AM appointment. Paul, the repairman was on the doorstep at presicely 11. He found the bad capacitor quickly and replaced it. Then he thoroughly checked the outside unit for the proper specs and declared the unit operating properlyy. I was very impresseed with his prompt arrival and professional troubleshooting and repair. Hammond must build their great reputation around professionals such as Paul. Thank you Hammond.

I requested to be contacted regarding setting up times for getting quote for a/c replacement. Business owner called the same day and we made an appointment to meet the same week. The quote meeting was punctual and professional. The quote was accepted via email and the job date and time were set. The crew arrived as agreed and completed the removal/installation in one day. The crew returned the following day to complete last minute touches. The drain line was overlooked but was completed immediately upon notice. The price for the project was reasonable and fair. The only negative thing was the company's website indicated a 10% discount was available if the job was paid in full upon completion. The job was paid in full but the final bill did not reflect the discount. Over all, I was very satisfied with the outcome of this project.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced a/c air handler and air compressor. Added new return and built new platform for air handler. Reconfigured condensation drain line to meet recent industry standard upgrades/codes.

Description of Work: Installed new heat exchanger and air handler. Also had duct work cleaned. Old units were taken out and removed from the premises. The air handler was in a tight space in the wall. The Hammond installers determined the best way to remove the old and install the new in less than an ideal space. Hammond Air Conditioning replaced my system in one day. The two guys who did the install were courteous and considerate and tidy. They met the delivery truck on arrival, unloaded the equipment and proceeded with the installation. Brandon Hammond came out mid-morning to make sure they had everything they needed to complete the job. Some ductwork in the closet had to be modified to accomodatee the slightly taller new air handler and two breakers in the electrical panel had to be changed out, which was included in the quote. The installers didn't leave until the system was up and running around 4:30 pm. I got a decent discount off the quoted price for paying by check instead of credit card. I was very satisfied with the whole process except the part about trying to decide what equipment to install, and I was glad to have the help deciding that Hammond provided. They were friendly and honest.
Description of Work: I had my heat pump (air handler and compressor) replaced due to its advanced age and a slow freon leak. I got quotes and/or advice from five contractors. One said he couldn't find replacement equipment to fit in the space available for the air handler (a small upstairs bedroom closet), another quoted me on a unit that I knew would not fit in the closet, and the other four quoted suitable equipment with some variation as to the type of fan supplied in the air handler and the compressor model chosen. Only one manufacturer I could find (Rheem, same as the equipment being replaced) makes an air handler that will fit in the space allowed, so the quotes I got were all for comparable equipment made by the same manufacturer with some variation in price due to features selected. One quote was significantly higher than the others and the remaining three were in the same ballpark. I awarded the job to Hammond Air Conditioning based on a number of things. The owner, Brandon Hammond, was the most forthcoming in explaining the differences between the equipment quoted and helping me select between them. The price he quoted for the basic system was materially lower than the other quotes, and I wound up getting the upgraded equipment for just a little more than the other base quotes. I was really impressed with the service this company provided, it is rare to find a company that seems like they really care. The AC unit would not turn on in a home that we are purchasing so before we closed on the house we wanted to know what was wrong with the unit and how much it would cost. We called in the around 5pm and was surprised that they could fit me in anytime I needed. They were very courteous and even called me an hour before they would arrive as I requested so that I wouldn't waste my time driving to the new house to find out they were delayed, much to my surprise the service man was waiting for me when I arrived at our scheduled time. He was very knowledgeable and took his time explaining and even showing me what was going on with the unit. Luckily it just needed a new thermostat but I am thankful that I had this service call because he showed me inside the coils where they were covered in mold and suggested that we have it pulled and cleaned. He didn't put any pressure on us to fix these things right away, he just kindly said that if and when we were ready to get them fixed just to give them a call and they would come back out. His advise saved us weeks of re-negotiating and once we are done closing on the house we will definitely use this company for all our AC needs!

I was seriously impressed with the workmanship of the technician from Hammond Air. Not only was he on time but he did not dilly-dally around with getting the job I needed done. Nor did he try to "play it up" as to what the problem was. He was direct and to the point. I will definitely us Hammond Air again in the future if I have anymore problems with my AC.
