Prequel: We purchased the material at Lowe's and inquired through their installation services as to the cost of installing the materials. The "subcontractor" came to a house, pulled out a measuring tape and measured the entire job in about 30 seconds. He also inform me they would have to bring in stone saws and cut our fireplace hearth to do the job ? that was an extra $350 When I inquired to Lowe's as to the amount of Pergo needed by their estimations, I was given a shopping list to meet their needs. As to the exterior porcelain tiles the Lowe's subcontractor refused to install the Lowe's exterior porcelain stating it was not rated for exterior use (!!!) Which struck me as odd since the material is rated for heavy exterior use by the manufacturer. The manager of Lowe's could not give me an explanation of this idiocy, nor could they explain the exorbitant charge for installation when the advertised rate of installation was 50% less than a quote. [Lowe's is not responsible for subcontractors bids and/or quotes so I don't fault Lowe's at all. It is a great place to shop] Enter Mr. Pope: We were given his name as a Pergo authorized installer/warranty service tech/troubleshooter in Jacksonville by a neighbor where I was able to see his work. It seems Mr. Pope started the Pergo installation teams at Lowe's years ago, and actually trained most the core people in Jacksonville doing this job. I looked him up on Angie's list and gave him a call. Mr. Pope came to our home, took exacting measurements, and gave us a shopping list. Not only did he give us the correct items on the list [unlike the Lowe's subcontractor], his shopping list was well over $600 cheaper material wise. As to the fireplace, Mr. Pope install this flooring perfectly without having to cut our fireplace hearth, notch the concrete, or any other $350 method! Mr. Pope called the day before the appointment to verify we were still go , Mr. Pope on time with everything he needed to complete this rehab. His work ethic is exceptional and his artistry is apparent. Mr. Pope gave us a written warranty, and all remaining materials from the job just in case we needed repair materials. There was VERY little waste materials! We recommend Mr. Pope to everyone dealing with ceramic tile, porcelain (a very hard medium to work with) for floor, kitchen, or bath, as well as floating or glued wood flooring of any kind! Addendum: Mr. Pope stopped back by to check on us (imagine that!!) and spotted a piece of Pergo that had a factory smear on it. (We never noticed it!) He quickly removed the piece and installed a new one in minutes. Now THAT is service!
Description of Work: Mr. Pope installed Pergo flooring in our living room and hallways, as well as exterior rated porcelain tiles on our large front porch /walkway which included a pitch that required custom install methods. Mr. Pope gets 15 out of 10 stars!
