We were having an addition put on a house we had purchased in Florida. We were living in Atlanta while the work was being done. So we picked out the shingles. A neighbor in Florida sent us pictures of the new roof -- they had put on the wrong colored shingles. Not even close. These were reddish, while the ones we had selected (to match the existing shingles) were black / bluish. So they ripped off the shingles they had put on and put on the correct color. Well, we had barely moved in when it rained and the roof leaked. The general contractor had the roofer come out. They said they found some loose shingles and fixed it. It rained again and it leaked again. We were told that Florida storms can be unusually strong. We replied that we had lived in Tampa and Fort Lauderdale previously, and we're familiar with strong storms, but weren't used to the roof leaking. So they came out again and supposedly sealed some nail holes. The kicker came when it rained again, and the leak was such that the water traveled to one of our smoke detectors, which short-circuited, prompting every smoke detector in the house to go off at 3 in the morning. So we called them and they came out. The story this time was that the AC unit in the attic must have had an overflow from the condensation pan. So I checked said pan, and it was bone dry. My suspicion -- and I have no way to prove it -- is that they may not have replaced the felt when they ripped off the wrong-colored shingles. Anyway, it was a disaster. We had multiple leaks. We have subsequently replaced the roof (we used Schultz in Jacksonville -- we highly recommend them -- no leaks!!!)

BRC wasn't the lowest bid, but we went with them because they seemed in touch with the industry and they were able to offer a better warranty, used higher quality materials (peel and stick on the whole roof, not just on the seams) and guarantees their work longer than most. I was also impressed that Jerry not only assessed our roof, but took pictures of the chimney cap to show us that it needed to be replaced due to rust (heavens knows I would not have crawled up on the roof to inspect that). I also wanted the pergola removed from our front porch and he was happy to oblige and did not charge an extra fee for removal or to patch the hole left when the lumber was removed from the roof. I work nights and Jerry made sure that the work was done around my schedule so I didn't lose any sleep on a day I had to work. When they were done, there was little proof (debris; trampled plants) that they had been there. I am thrilled with the transformation of my house with a beautiful architectural shingle roof, not to mention a skylight that I can actually see the sky through! I was so impressed, I asked Jerry for a recommendation for replacement of our sliding glass door (RJR Lesko, Inc.). If they are as professional as BRC, I am sure to be just as thrilled with the new door as I am with my roof! HIghly recommend them!!
