He was really good. He was an honest guy. He had to get the part to fix my fridge, but he got it right away and he knew what he was doing. He wasn’t out to charge me too much. I felt that it was a fair price, but I don't know what to compare it to as I haven't had any services like this done in the past.

Bob was punctual and professional from the start. I called B&N on a Friday afternoon, and they were able to work me in for that Monday morning. I had to reschedule at the last minute on Monday due to an unforeseen medical appointment. Nancy was very courteous and understanding, and we got on the calendar for the next day. Bob quickly diagnosed the problem and ordered the part at his first visit. He called a couple days later to let me know the part was in and came that day to install it. I don't know how much this service typically costs, but I thought his pricing appropriate for the part and two service calls. I'd use B&N again.
Description of Work: Bob diagnosed the problem for our oven's broken bake function and replaced the starter.

Technicial did a great job. I just thought that the cost was a little high. I don't know what they had to pay for the part.
Description of Work: Refridgerator would not cool. Technician completed troubleshooting very quickly. The thermostat failed which was a common problem with 10 year old uints. Troubleshooting did not require the use of any tools or equipment. Experient brought the technicial to a quick solution. The technician did not have the part on the truck and had to come back the next day. He showed up on time both days. With the part it was a quick repair.

, The company tech was on time. He quickly discovered my appliances problem and had the parts to fix it then and there. He also suggested replacing a part and where I could obtain it for a lower price than he could offer me. He took only 30 minutes to repair my appliance. I am very pleased with the overall service and professionalism.
Description of Work: The technician arrived promptly as scheduled. He was polite and efficient. He diagnosed the issue with my appliance and fixed it effectively. He also suggested a part replacement and informed me where I could purchase the part saving me money over purchasing the part through them. I would highly recommend this company to anyone for their professionalism, honesty and overall customer service.

I called B&N after searching for appliance repair companies on Angie's List. B&N was my first choice, becasue they had good reviews and ratings. I called and left message and Nancy called my back almost immediately. Bill came out two days later and gave me an estimate (no charge) Discovered that i needed a new small burner on my Kenmore ceramic top stove. Ordered the part and gave me an estimate ($260) He even gave me a quick solution to another part porblem I had with my microwave. Nancy (Office Manager) called me back two days later and scheduled an appointment for the following Wednesday. Bill and Bob came on Wednesday and replaced the burner in about 15 minutes. All is working well. Since I did not get any other estimate, I was a little concerned about the price. $180 for labor and $87 for the burner. That may be the same with others, who knows. It was fixed and they did a great job.

Description of Work: Our 10-year old refrigerator was not cooling so Bob Butler with B&N had to clean out all the built up ice and restart frig to see if it would work. He indicated it may work temporarily, but due to the age of the frig, we would likely be looking at more extensive repairs if he had to return. We advised Bob that we would prefer to replace the frig rather than try to fix it. He told us to give it about 5-6 days to see if his work helped. It did help, so we notified Bob that it didn't appear we would need further service from him. He didn't bill us at the time of the initial service, in case he needed to return, at which point he would bill us for all services rendered. Upon notifying Bob that the frig was working, we mailed him a check. Bob was extremely prompt (arrived within an hour or less of our call) and very thorough in his work and explanation of the problem. We were very pleased with his overall level of service, his reasonable fee and we would absolutely use him again.

Overall, the job was done in a timely manner and the cost was o k.
Description of Work: Called B&N to check my old frig to see if he could get it working. He checked it throughly and ran some tests.. Unfortunately, the compressor was shot. He said it would cost over $600.00 to replace and reccomended not to fix it; the cost of a new spare frig was cheaper than to fix this one. He only charged me for the service fee. He was very helpful and courteous and professional. This is the second time he has repaired one of my appliances and has a great job. I would recommend B&N Appliance Repair to anyone!

Great experience. Bob came when he said he would, and called ahead to make sure we were available. He was very professional and had the parts already available. He went right to work and solved the problem. Later, he explained what he did and showed me the old parts. It was a very good experience, especially considering the problems I had trying to get some one out here with another Angie's List provider. I would highly recommend Bob and B&N Appliance repair to my friends.

My Whirlpool fridge stopped cooling. I called them Friday morning at 9am and nobody answered so I left a voice message. I didn't get called back until around 1pm that same day. The soonest they could come was Monday from 10 - 12. I scheduled the appointment. Bob called prior to coming and was on time. The problem was found and repaired in a reasonable amount of time and at a fair price. I told the woman on the phone who scheduled the appointment that I found them Angie's List but the discount of $10 doesn't show on my bill (my wife was the one who paid the bill). Maybe it just wasn't itemized, I'm not sure. Overall it was a good experience.

Our dishwasher stopped working so we decided to do without it for a while. Then the washing machine went - there was no choice but to take action. We called B&N. The repairman came out, looked at the washer and recommended that we bite the bullet and get a new one - while he could repair it, it was not worth the amount that it would cost to fix it. He checked out the dishwasher. It needed a part he had to order. He came back a 2 days later and fixed. He was friendly and professional, did a good job explaining our options. The dishwasher is working like a charm. We followed his recommendation when we picked out the new washer. I would definitely recommend him to my friends.

My washer had begun making a strange noise during the drain/spin cycle. Also, my dryer control knob had not been working on the sensing cycles for months. I called for service about the washer when it stopped completely during the drain/spin cycle. Bob and another "B" - Bill - came out the day after I made my initial call. They were prompt and on time for the appointment. Both were friendly and professional. They checked out my washer and diagnosed the problem as the pump not draining properly. They said that the entire pump would have to be replaced, that they could not get parts only since the manufacturer (Whirlpool) had designed the pump as a unit and it could not be disassembled. Bob called, confirmed that they had a pump in stock and made an appointment to return for the repair. He returned on time and replaced the pump. Also they had checked the dryer control. The cost to replace the control was high and they advised to just continue using the dryer on the manual cycles as I had been doing. They did not push an unnecessary repair/replacement. I was pleased with their courtesy and professionalism. My only concern is with the whole process now of making products with parts that cannot be repaired easily and require that an entire (expensive) part be replaced rather than making possible the correction of one small part of the whole. I guess it could be worse-that the entire appliance be replaced rather than just a part. What happened to recycling?

Mid-load, water began rushing from my front load washer. It was coming from the soap / bleach compartment. My husband couldnt locate the issue and as a mother of 4 active kids I could not imagine being without the ability to do laundry!!! I called B & N and they fit me in right away. The tech was on time and identified the problem after a complete examination. He remedied it quickly and then began a cycle to make sure the problem was completely fixed before leaving. A piece of laundry had become wedged in the drain and was preventing the water from entering the tub thus forcing it out the front panel. He was polite and I will certainly call him again in the future if I have appliance repair issues.
Description of Work: Complete examination of my washer revealed a piece of laundry had become wedged in the drain and was not allowing water to properly enter the tub. The technician located and removed the blockage!! I was so grateful.

My only issue is the cost of the repair. My personal opinion is that the price was very high based on researching the price of the replacement gasket through a couple of online companies. I explained to Bob that I am single, recently retired and on a fixed income, I strongly believe repair personnel need to be cognizant of their customers situations and where possible use a little compassion with their pricing. I was married at one time to a carpenter who practiced this pretty regularly.
Description of Work: My Whirlpool Duet washer was leaking water everywhere including all over one side of my garage. I had originally called a plumber when I thought it was a drain problem, followed by an "appliance repair man" (and I use that terminology very loosely) who did essentially nothing, but charged a service call fee and never came back to make the needed repairs. Then, I was fortunate to find B & N Appliance Repair. I called Tuesday afternoon and an appointment was scheduled between 11 & 2 the next day. Bob & Bill arrived on the front side of the time span, Bob diagnosed the problem in about 15 seconds (it was the front door gasket and I was losing just about every bit of water that went into the machine), got a price on the part and gave me a total parts and labor price. He said he would have to order the part, but would probably be able to come the next day to install. I told him because of the fiasco with both the plumber & other individual, it had been 2 weeks since I had been able to do laundry. Bob made the decision to go get the part right then and come back and install it for me before he went on to his other jobs. I couldn't have asked for any better service than this. Bob and Bill are great guys and I appreciate them.

.I have an Amana refrigerator that was freezing everything in the refrigerator part. B&N came out to look and see what the problem is. They were there on time, professional and found the problem. He explained what was going on and was able to repair it without any problems. He told me to watch the temp in the fridge for the next few days to make sure it would stay at the right temp. If there was any problem, to call them again to come out. If there wasn't any problem, after a few days, they would send a bill for the repair. Everything worked out great and I didn't have to call them. The repairman was knowledgeable and courteous. And still not having a problem with the fridge.

I called them to confirm the charge was correct, and even asked them to meet me half way considering they did not do anything but come out and within five minutes of arriving confirming telling me they could not repair the problem per manufacture standards, and made the recommendation I should call the manufacturer to get a new appliance. The disappointing part was in that I told them exactly what he problem was before they came out to confirm I would not be charged for something they could not fix, since it seemed like they could not fix it.. When they arrived they confirmed what I said was correct. However, they thought they MIGHT be able to fix it if they came back a second time with a new bolt from home depot, but they would have to fix the appliance with a home made remedy (Drilling a hole and placing a bolt through the side of the washing machine and hoping it works (At a total cost of ($156). Based on all the reviews they received for being fair, and reasonable, I was unpleasantly surprised to be charged a full fee, if anything, for 5 minutes of observation (no tools where used on the appliance - simply observation) to tell me there was nothing they could do on that visit. Though the technician was VERY professional, I have to rate the company a unprofessional in my view.

My dishwasher was not working. Scheduled an appt. for Bob to come out. Bob called the day before to ask questions about the dishwasher. He told me to go to the breaker box and turn off breaker for 15 minutes then turn back on and check to see if dishwasher would turn on. He said he didn't want to have to charge me a $78 service charge if he didn't need to. Lo and behold, the dang breaker was off and all I needed to do was turn it on! This guy could have come on out and charged the service fee just to turn on a breaker, but yet e didn't and saved me some $$. Now that is service! I will definitely call this company back if I need their services

Ice maker was not working. Called on a Sunday and answering service, real person, answered phone and scheduled appt. for Monday. Owner called Monday morning and came to house. I had tried to fix ice maker myself and really messed it up, literally melting the hose and housing surrounding fan. He amazingly was able to repair the damage I had done and said to call him the next day and let him know if it was producing ice, ususally takes 3 hours for first batch of ice to drop. Everything worked perfectly and he only charged me #138.00, which I feel was a great deal.

I called on a Saturday and was able to schedule the service call for my washer for early the next week. Bob arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the problem as the pump. He offered me the option of repairing it myself to save about $50 dollars, including where I could buy a replacement pump and outlining how to go about removing the old pump and installing the new one. I decided to have him go ahead with the repair, so he went and picked up the pump and quickly installed it when he got back. It took about an hour and a half from start to finish, including the time to get the pump. So far, the washing machine is working fine.

He arrived. He asked what was the problem. He turned on the dryer and could hear the problem right away. He took the front of the dryer apart to get at the inside. Found lint wrapped around the drive wheels and outside of the drum and all over the inside walls of the dryer. He cleaned it all out using his own "shop vacuum" and a hand brush I loaned him to help loosen the lint. He resealed the vent hose inside the dryer and put it together again. We had a brocken burner on our electric stove which my husband was going to fix himself. The repair man told him where he could go to get the correct replacement part and showed him how to reconnect it. He was very helpful. We may have to call him back to replace parts inside the dryer. Not sure yet. Bob, of B&N Appliance, (the owner) didn't seem to know about Angie's List and that he was even rated. I explained to him about the web site and how it works. I was surprised he didn't know about it.
Description of Work: Dryer was making terrible load squeeking sounds. He came and took it appart and found the duct for the vent had come off inside the dryer. The lint had been collecting inside the dryer and around the drive wheels that moved the drum. He cleaned it out and said that might solve the problem, as he removed the lint that had accumulated around the inside that was causing problems. He then sealed up the duct properly and had to put the dryer back together again. However, for a while the dryer seemed fine. Now it has started squeeking again. He may have to come back and replace the drive wheels. But I have not called him yet. We felt he charged what was fair for the work he had to do.
