 + -1 moreI called at 1:50 and they set me up with an appointment between the hours of 2 and 4.They called at 3:30 to see if I was in fact at home and ready for them to come out. The young man was extremely friendly and answered my questions very well. He checked out all of the areas that would have anything to do with any issues. I was very pleased and felt that he was honest in everything that he told me. I was very comfortable. I did not feel like he was steering me in the wrong direction.
Description of Work: They checked to see if the leak around a vent in my "Florida Room" was a bad roofing job or if it was in fact an AC issue that needed attention.

 + -1 moreWe had Air Engineers come out to give us a quote for a new A/C unit (13 seer variable, 3 ton). The man was late, not courteous, and the price was $2,000 more than any other quote we received (4 in total, all but Air Engineers quoted us at about 5K). Additionally they were not going to install a light in the attic, which is now code, and the other 3 quotes we received included that work.
Description of Work: None. We got an estimate for our HVAC to be replaced.

 + -1 moreWhen I asked for a "ballpark estimate" and they were hesitant to provide one, it left me suspicious. All the other companies I have called provided one, of course, with disclaimers and that is understandable. But since they took a while to provide it to me and then it was so much higher than everyone else's and was flaky about guarantee information, I did not feel comfortable and decided to move down on Angie's List to the next company. I have used Air Engineers before when I had a warranty company and now I recall why I never used them again. Although the service center came across as extremely professional, their actions and responses did not.
Description of Work: Called to get a ball park quote for a pulling and cleaning of the coils and fan and outside unit (compressor). Was told there would be a $95 diagnostic fee for someone to look at it. Told the customer service person "Mary" that I already have been told what was needed and that I wanted a 'ballpark estimate' and I did not wish to have to pay for it again. She put me on hold for quite a bit as she checked with dispatch. Dispatch told her that they have had similar and that it would be around $750. This quote is considerably higher than others I called. I asked her what guarantee would be provided and told me that parts and labor would be guaranteed if the same thing happened again. I was confused because it is a cleaning so I could not understand that guarantee. She told me she was not certain either. At that point, I was frustrated and told her I would contact the next company on Angie's List because I did not feel too reassured.

 + -1 moreMy first call went well, I spoke to a very nice lady who gave me prices for the services I was looking for. I than asked about the advertised coupon on Angie's List, she did not know about it and said she would have someone call back to get that answered. I never received a call back answering the coupon question. I than called back the next day and had to be placed on hold several times before I got to speak to Linda (who by the way interrupted me mid-sentence with a rude "Wooh Wooh Wooh" who said the coupon would be honored but the price for service I was quoted the day before was now wrong, and that it was now more money. They would not honor the original price quote, even though it was not far off of the new more expensive price I was quoted. Just about the amount of the coupon they were now honoring, Hmmm.....
Description of Work: I was simply using "The List" to determine who I was going to use for periodic maintenance and cleaning of my two air handler units. This company was on my short list but after having two phone conversation concerning estimates of cost, they fell off. The reason I stated above that I would attempt to hire again, is If they were willing to make amends of my complaints I would definitely reconsider. As it stands right now I will be using another company on "The List."

 + -1 moreTechnician arrived on time after phoning to confirm he was enroute per request. He checked the levels and then came to explain that something was not quite right with the unit. He inspected several other items and came to the conclusion that the inside and outside units were not matched correctly. A pressure difference would need to be fixed by either changing the air-handler or by replacing the copper return line. This was consistent with another inspection I had completed. He attempted to balance the pressure on the unit though it would not be within "normal" operators. He said that by adjusting some the freon levels he may be able to get it to work a little better. We noticed a slight improvement in the work. He said that someone else would have to come out to provide an estimate on replacing either the units or the return line.
Description of Work: Examine poor performance of 5 ton commercial A/C unit for a small office space. I was looking for a 2nd opinion to as to the cause of the freezing of the condenser.

 + -1 moreFrom our first phone call to them to the finished installation, Air Engineers did an excellent and professional job. Our initial call to them was on a Saturday in July and we were able to talk to a real person, describe our problem, and schedule a repair call on Monday morning. The repairman came during the scheduled time and worked very hard most of the day trying to repair our unit. When it became obvious that a replacement was necessary, a salesman came out and explained the options we had. We made a decision based on his advice and the company had a crew come out the next day. After a long, hard day we had a new AC unit and cool air. We couldn't be more pleased with their work and their employees and highly recommend them to others in this area.
Description of Work: Removed old and broken AC and heating unit, added return duct to accommodate new system, updated circuit breaker, replaced old system with new one.

 + -1 moreOverall it seemed to go very well. We got an estimate on Friday morning and once we agreed, they came out again on Saturday and the A/C was working by noon. I was impressed by the salesman since he didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. He was happy to answer all our of questions and was very knowledgeable about air conditioners.
Description of Work: They replaced our 11 year old air handler and compressor as well as some duct work. We got the midrange Lynx compressor and a variable speed air handler.

 + -1 moreAir Engineers uses the RotoBrush throughout ductwork system, a must for proper cleaning. Others told me you dont "need" that or said they push pure air and it does the same thing. Not true! They arrived promptly the next day. There was NO mess because they have the right equipment and brush and sanitizer. Carlos and Kevin were wonderful, and Carlos found mistakes other companies missed on my unit itself, fixed it and didnt charge extra. The difference in the house is amazing dust, odors, allergies, etc. Its a lot to spend for me, but I learned it is worth it. I had estimates as high as $2400 and as low as $300.00. Cheap gets you nothing but a rip off, believe me! I started my research after the Angies List article written by an expert. I am thrilled! They are also going to do all my AC work from now on, price and expertise versus ripoffs, shoddy work, etc. from other companies!
Description of Work: After researching about air duct cleaning from Angies List article and on my own extensively, I got three estimates and settled on Air Engineers hands down. This service is an easy rip off for you unless you did your homework like I did. They came out to totally service and brush, clean and sanitize my two air-conditioner units and all my ductwork. I had four returns and 30 registers. Every register was taken down and sanitized like new looking, all was cleaned. Great job! Plus, the best part, I have had trouble with cooling for years on one side of the house and had numerous people check it out. Carlos found three areas that were done improperly or not checked! Problem solved, and they didnt charge me a dime for the extra fix.

 + -1 moreOn Friday afternoon my old system went out and they immediately brought a temporary room unit at no charge to get us through the weekend. John, Ryan and Jahu arrived on time Monday morning and spent the day installing the new whole house unit. They were very friendly and professional. Did a very good clean up job and explained the whole operation of the system before they left.
Description of Work: My old unit was making noise and they came out to fix it. They ran a test and determined that the compressor was about to go out. I asked them to evaluate the whole unit and the found a leaking condenser and a few other things that needed attention. The repair cost would be about $4,300 and I would still have an 11 year old unit. Before I Okd the repair, I asked for a complete new high efficiency install estimate. Chris came out and evaluated the needs and gave me an estimate on three options: A 13.5 SEER, 15 SEER, and a 17 SEER system reigning from $9000 to $12,000 depending on the needs and selection I made. Since I was planning on staying in the house indefinitely, I selected The 5 Ton Lennox HPX19 High Efficiency 17 SEER system with a super quiet operation. Chris was very professional in explaining the benefits of all three systems. We scheduled the install for the following Monday morning.

Description of Work: My air conditioner, which covers 2000 square feet, needed a new pump. Air Engineers replaced the pump and only charged the labor to do so as the pump was covered under warranty.

Description of Work: I purchase a brand new programmable, 3600 BTU, unit from Air Engineers. I also had them install it. Air Engineers removed my old unit, got rid of it for me, and cleaned everything when they were through.

 + -1 moreAfter the installation was done, they had to come back 3 or 4 times to get everything working right. The first time they came back, they re-wired a couple of wires. The second time was to fix the switch as it was not set properly and then came back again to fix a wire not hooked up properly in the thermostat. When I did need them to come back however they were very prompt and courteous.
Description of Work: We had Air Engineers remove our old air conditioning unit and put in a new top of the line Lennox System in our 2000 square foot home.
