First, I must mention that we were on a tight deadline to get the work done. Jeff and his team worked very hard to make that happen for us. Jeff , the owner, was honest and frank about the challenges and issues we would have, with the work that needed to be done. He also kept in mind our budget target and helped to put together the products and services to meed our guidelines. The teams completed the work and at days end we had new flooring and carpet. Jeff and his team were courteous, friendly and efficient. I would use this team in the future, without question.

I previously hired Jeff and his staff to install new carpet in my bedrooms. I was very pleased with their service that I hired them again to remove the old 20 year old carpet and install wood laminate throughout in our living area, hallway and closets this time around. His staff was very responsive and courteous, very easy to communicate with and met all of our expectations. I had to purchase a little < 20ft of baseboard material for some new drywall I had put up and he was kind enough to put that in for me during install at no extra charge. There were no hidden fees in his estimate so I knew exactly how much I was expected to pay up front and upon completion. Thanks guys for the great work, we're loving the new look and feel as its something we've wanted to do for many years!

Very easy to deal with, smooth transaction all around. Had a lot of communications back and forth via email & phone and were very responsive. I started shopping for quotes around March and I had all intentions of moving forward quickly but some family circumstances prevented us from doing so and I had to postpone this project for a little while. I like the fact that they kept in touch with me every couple of months to see what my status was and they weren't overbearing about it. They simply wanted to know if I was still interested, I was just waiting for the right time to pull the trigger. The time was finally right and I was able to take some carpet samples home to see what we'd like. We made a decision, put down the 50% deposit to order and were put on the schedule within a week. The guys gave me a call 30 mins. in advance and arrived as planned and quickly got to work. They were very considerate of our toddler during nap time and worked quietly and diligently the entire time. Cleaned up well and gave a walk through upon completion. Very pleased with the results, thanks guys for the great work!

We had a floor put in by AC&W earlier in the summer, and as expected with a big job we have had a few minor things pop up here and there that required some additional attention even after the job was completed. They have been very responsive and attentive to our requests. We've been really happy that they've "stuck with us" after the job was completed and taken good care of us. Thanks guys!

Jeff was very nice and easy to work with. He came out and did an estimate and provided a price that was significantly lower than the others we had gotten. He also uses a more expensive glue than other people we were seeking estimates from. When I asked the other companies about it they said they would have to charge more to use the glue in question. We had to put down 1/2 the money to start with and they prefer checks not credit cards which was not made completely clear until we agreed to do the job. It was fine although I would have liked the points. They worked with us to schedule a time to get started on the job. We were very happy with the crew(joe and his partner were great) and the work that was done over a period of 5 days. If I had to do it over I would. Everything looks beautiful. We even hired them a month later to replace all the carpet in our rental property with carpet and laminate. The tenants are very happy with the everything. The one thing I did not like and I was very clear that I didn't like it was that they do not paint the shoe molding. They bring it primed and expect the customer to paint it. I saw it in other reviews some people called it "homework". I was not a fan of homework. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking to put in wood, carpet or laminate. Great price and easy to work with.

Jeff was very courteous and professional in all phases of the process. There was no pressure during the sales, he managed to accomodate my scheduling constraints, and his price was reasonable given the top quality exotic wood and materials that we chose. His installer did an excellent job. Showed up promptly each day, hard working, and cleaned up each day. The floors look beautiful and Jeff came out multiple times during the installation to make sure that it was going well and that I was happy. We selected Affordable Carpet & Wood off of Angie's List based on the reviews. We contacted Jeff Howard for an estimate to which he was very prompt at coming out. Jeff made several recommendations as to the finish of the wood given we have a large dog and were concerned about scratches from the dog's nails. Jeff was very personable and professional. We decided to proceed with engineered hardwood with a wire brush finish. We set a date for the install and about a week prior to the date, Jeff and his installer (Tim) came out to the house to review the job one more time. They arrived promptly on the install date and began work removing the carpet and tile. They prepped and prepared the slab keeping dust at a minimum. The slab was very unlevel and they did a great job at leveling the slab for installation. Tim and his crew were fantastic. They were very professional and knowledgeable and took pride in installing the wood. They kept everything clean all along the way. After completion, they vacuumed a final time and buffed the floor. Jeff came by several times during the install to ensure everything was going well. The wood floors look awesome and we couldn't be happier.

Avoid Affordable Carpet and Wood at all costs. Jeff installed wood flooring throughout my home in early 2014. About four to six months after the job was finished, the wood began buckling, cupping and blistering in several different areas of the home. Despite knowing slab moisture was present at the onset (a common occurrence in Florida coastal areas) Jeff told us it was fine to move forward with the project. Given this was my first home, every recommendation made by Jeff prior, during and post installation was followed. I reached out to Jeff about the problem mid 2014 and we went back and forth for several months about the best course of action. Once it became apparent that Jeff would not stand by his work, I contacted multiple flooring contractors, foundation experts, leak detection specialists and the manufacturer of the wood flooring (LM Hardwood). They concluded that while there is slab moisture in our home, there is no slab leak or foundation issue. For homes with slab moisture, LM Hardwood does not recommend their product. This is the very product that Jeff recommended and sold to me. After trying for months to reach some agreement and/or resolve the situation, Jeff cut off all communications and has disappeared. He claims to guarantee all work, but has left me with a floor that has close to fifteen buckling and blistered boards that are beyond repair. I am now out the $17,500 Jeff charged me and will have to tear up and replace the flooring throughout my home. Clearly the ?guarantee? below is conditional at best. Affordable Carpet and Wood is a fantastic company to do business with. Jeff Howard is very nice, responsive and knowledgable about carpet and hardwood products. He was very responsive to my initial request for a quote for new carpet and hardwood in our new home, and he was a joy to work with. Jeff's wood installer, Randy, is incredibly hard working and diligent, and he did a fantastic job. Jeff's carpet installer, Jason, also did a great job and was very knowledgable about the particular carpet that he was installing for me. The overall price for the project was very reasonable and Jeff outbid several other companies that I was considering. But Jeff's personality and professionalism also swayed me to hire him for this project as well, and I am really glad that I did. Jeff also has a great support staff in the office who are very responsive and helpful when Jeff is out of the office.

We met Jeff at his showroom and picked out the wood flooring we wanted. He took care of all the details. A week before our install date, Jeff brought his installer, Tim, to our house so he could walk the job and make final plans. Tim's crew arrived promptly on time each day and did a wonderful job installing the floor. They kept the dust to a minimum and we were able to stay at the house during the whole process. Tim's crew worked from 8-5 each day, not even leaving for lunch and the job was completed in 5 days. They gave us homework: to paint new shoe molding, that they installed when the new wood floor was in place. The quality of their work and attention to detail is evident and we are extremely happy with our new wood floors.

Such a great company! They were not the least expensive but after talking to 3 other companies I knew we would be the most pleased with their work. The floors look amazing! Carpet looks perfect and they did not even scratch our baseboards. Our painter was on stand by after they finished and there was no touch up needed. The demo process was much easier than expected. The floors did have to be leveled but what I liked most about this company was the price they gave covered all the materials. Other companies said it would be more if they took out the tile and needed to be leveled. This is our second house and the second time installing wood floors. This company did everything right. They did not cut corners, workers were professional and knowledgeable and work was completed even before date promised. I worked for almost 3 weeks with several companies and I am so happy we chose them!

After getting several estimates we decided to go with Jeff as he was very knowledgable and his price was the best. We were able to schedule the work immediately. He picked out the new wood floor to match the existing and then sanded and stained the entire floor a darker color. His crew did an excellent job picking the stain after we explained what color we were looking for. The crew was alway punctual and polite and they finished the job in the time they said they would. We love the new floors and would definitely recommend them and use them in the future.

After comparing several companies to replace all the floors in our house, we finally selected Jeff Howard and his company, Affordable Carpet and Wood off of Phillips Highway. From the beginning, we found Jeff to be very professional, knowledgeable and informative. This was a huge project that required many phases and Jeff and his teams executed every one of them flawlessly, working around our busy travel and work schedules. They were prompt, detail driven, friendly, and incredibly hard workers. And like any large project, there were a few "surprises" that came up due to original home construction issues, but Jeff and his team were able to overcome them all. Even better, despite a few setbacks, they honored our original quote. They took their time to do the job right, something we really appreciated. Pricing was more than competitive, and although not the cheapest - they used nothing but top quality materials, glues, leveling agents, trim pieces, etc. so we felt that his prices were certainly justified. Other quotes did not even mention some of the materials required which makes us wonder if those would have become financial surprises later. We had one small miscommunication where a closet under the stairs was missed - they did not think we were putting hardwood floors in this closet but we actually did want to do so. In the end, Jeff offered to order more material and do this area at no charge, even though it wasn't on his original quote. Given how nice everything turned out, and how hard they worked to overcome other unforeseen issues, we offered to pay him for the closet work because in our opinion, they deserved to be compensated for their labor and materials. We are completely happy with the project and would highly recommend Affordable Carpet and Wood to anyone considering hardwoods and new floors. As a side note, we are actually doing a whole house worth of remodeling and Jeff was able to make recommendations on several other tradespeople - ALL of whom worked out to be just as hard working and professional as he. I'm in the high-end custom kitchen business and I can tell you that I understand how hard it can be to get things right... there are always challenges and Jeff and his teams always stepped up to get the job done. No complaints, no rebids, no excuses....just good people!

They installed wood in one bedroom and new carpet in another. Jeff searched thoroughly to try to find wood to match the rest of my home (which already had wood floor), and he came up with a beautiful match. At the shop, Affordable Carpet and Wood helped me pick out carpet and let me take several samples home overnight. They were extremely patient and helpful with my questions. They called me promptly to schedule each installation, and the installers showed up on time and finished quickly. The finished product looks absolutely BEAUTIFUL in both rooms. I shopped around for wood flooring, and Jeff had by far the best price and was the nicest to work with. I wish I had the wood floors he put in the one room in the rest of the home, because they are so beautiful. They called me after each installation to follow up and make sure everything had gone well. I would definitely recommend them highly.

We specifically asked for a product that was not made in China. We were shown several products in their showroom. We selected Montage European Oak by Horizon Floors, Inc. When the flooring was delivered the boxes were stamped made in China. We were promised their best installer. We were later told he was not available. Second choice not available. Third choice scheduled but later changed to yet a fourth installer. Wood boards have black filler in knot holes that does not match the floor boards. Floor boards were a taupe color. None of the samples we were shown had this black filler. None of the pictures on Horizon websites show the black filler. Stair nose and T-moldings DO NOT match the floor wood. They are made by a different manufacturer here in the US. They are a completely different wood, a different grain, a different stain. They do not match the floor boards. The installer had to put in the stair nose twice. First left gaping holes on each side. Second try he cut the wood too short and had to fill the space between stair nose and wall with filler. It's very noticeable. We said we would have someone else install yet another stair nose. They did provide an extra piece of stair nose. Overall, this business does not know its product. Everything was a surprise to them. We provided all this information to the manager, asking that it be forwarded to the owner. All we got in response was excuses from the manager. He actually said the best floors are made in China; that this never happens, but would not address the specific issues. He gave us a box of wood. That really doesn't do us any good given the issues we identified.

I Found Affordable Carpet and Wood on Angie's List. Owner Jeff Howard came to my place to give a quote on refinishing the hardwood floors in the mid century home I purchased. Needing the estimate to budget - he quoted a great price to do all of the flooring and closets in home - Since I was doing major renovation - it required that this be the last thing to do. Nick came out Monday 7/14/14 to begin work and completing the work on 7/17/14 - keeping me informed of progress and texting pictures as the jpb progressed. The flooring is exceptional.. From quote to finished product, Affordable Carpet and Wood was one of the easiest contracting jobs I've had done. I highly recommend them. One of the great things is that Jeff and Nick both love what they do - you can tell in talking to them. If you have workers who love what they do, the money will be well spent. Great job guys....

We are very pleased with Jeff Howard's promptness in scheduling the appointment and his attention to detail. He was on time, performed the measurements and very professional.. We are also very pleased with the office staff, Bonnie and Bill, who were prompt to return phone calls, very pleasant and professional. The installers removed the old carpet and replaced with new padding and carpet. They were very professional, went right to work and didn't even stop for lunch. They worked six hours straight and stayed on task until the job was done. We appreciate them and all of their hard work! YES! we recommend this company for all of your flooring needs!

Flooring jobs that include staircases can get pricey fast, but Jeff came up with solutions to give us an estimate that was handily the most affordable of the three contractors we brought in. They were able to slot us in very quickly. The office was extremely responsive and communicative. Randy, who did the installation, was prompt, professional, friendly, and flexible. Very pleasant experience, will definitely call them again next time we have flooring needs.

Let's start from the beginning... Initial Phone call.....answered promptly and professionally providing me with excellent information about their range of products and services. I scheduled an appointment with JEFF to discuss what I was looking for and to learn about the options available. Jeff was very knowledgeable making helpful recommendations about which flooring would best fit my needs. He could have EASILY led to more expensive solutions < I have never dealt with the unique challenges of installing flooring in Florida >, but he listened to what I needed and provided me with a wide range of quality options.Throughout the process Jeff and his team (Bonnie, Bill and Randy) were timely, conscientious, detailed and responsive. I gathered 3 bids in total and while their price WAS the lowest of the 3, we chose Jeff because we were made to feel like our relatively small project was a high priority for everyone on their team.

I had them out to give me an estimate for wood flooring in my great room and dining room. Due to the holidays I have not had them do the job but it is scheduled for mid-January. I will update this review at that time. UPDATE - The installation of the hardwood floors was completed on 1/17/14. At the start of the day, Jeff came out to meet his installers and go over any last minute details with them and also to check with me on any questions I may have. The installers, Joe and Jay helped me remove the final large pieces of furniture that I could not manage myself. They then removed all the old carpet, cleaned the concrete and then used leveling compound to take care of any low spots that may be present. Since this had to dry totally before the installation could occur, they left for the day. They returned the next day and double checked the floor and started with the hardwood installation. I could not believe how fast they were able to get the new floor down and both of them were extremely professional and had no issue answering any questions I had during the installation. Once the glue had dried enough they started the cleanup and complete wipe down of the floors. Then they assisted me in moving back all the furniture and placed felt pads on each piece for me. I can't believe what a difference this floor made in these 2 rooms and the installation was totally seamless and quick. I would not hesitate to have Affordable Carpet & Wood back to do any type of flooring in the future. From the initial estimate to the final installation, Jeff and his installers were very easy to work with and were extremely professional. If anyone is looking for a new floor I would not hesitate to recommend Jeff at Affordable Carpet & Wood. They were not only the cheapest of the 3 estimates I received but they were a joy to work with.

We had our dark and old carpet replaced in the living room, hallway and my dad's bedroom. Not only is the floor beautiful but it actually opens up our small home and makes it look bigger and so much lighter. They really know what they're doing and Jeff was very patient when it came to answering our questions. Now we can't wait to get the other bedrooms done!

Jeff was wonderful. He answered our questions and didn't try and sell us anything other than what we needed. No hidden charges. We had the carpet in the living room, hallway and my dad's room replaced with the Naturelle flooring. It's absolutely beautiful. It's amazing what the right flooring can do to a room. We will definitely use them again when we're ready to do the rest of the house.
