At the end of the 12 months, ADT notified me I could not cancel despite my 90 day notice. They told me I was obligated to pay for the full 36 months, no exceptions. I refuse to pay and they refuse to grant me a waiver. They also refuse to give me contract proof I signed for 36 months.
Description of Work: I needed an alarm to be monitored for 12 months while in a rental house waiting for my new house to be completed. I called around and ADT promised they would honor a contract for 12 months. The salesman assured me I could cancel with 60 day notice after 12 months.

They do pretty good. They always get the cameras back online.
Description of Work: I have problems with my cameras and they usually come out and fix the problem. It doesn't cost me anything since I have insurance.

I regret swtiching to ADT as my system is so unpredictable that I don't know when I'm called about an alarm event if it warrants action. If four service calls by ADT trained technicians can't fix the problem, it seems to me they would just replace the entire system. And did I mention, that in my installation contract with ADT reseller, SAFECO, I was promised five months free monitoring and was told that ADT would take care of that. When I called ADT, they said it was SAFECO's responsiblity to cover the "free five months." After multiple emails and phone calls to SAFECO, I finally got reimbursed for the promised five months free service. This has been a bad experience from the day the system was installed. I'm paying for a service that is unreliable at best and I have two more years on my contract. I am so frustrated that ADT has not made "good" t hat I'm considering filing a complaint in Austin with the Texas Board of Private Investigators and Private Security Agencies and with the BBB. Once my contract is up, this ADT system will be gone. In all fairness, the ADT technicians sent to my house were timely, courteous and professional, but the problem is not solved. Their supervisors are aware of this issue and should have the authority to request that ADT just replace this system. The $300 figure above represents monitoring fees only. This system was a "free installation" promotion...and I obviously got just what I paid for...Unfortunately, Safeco took my old ASG box with them.
Description of Work: An ADT system was installed in my home in Aug/ Sept of 2010 by Safeco, an ADT reseller. My old ASG system had worked reliably for over 8 years and within one month of the ADT installation, problems began. I've had three false alarms. On two occasions ADT called me to say they weren't receiving a signal from my unit. One occasion (July 2011) I was notified of a bell circuit error. Now my panels show an intermittent LED door open indicator when nothing is open. ADT corporate service has now been out four times (last time 7/13/11) and my system is still not working properly. On one call, the tech noted that a DSL filter had not been used in the system (and the installer knew I had DSL). On the last call, the tech noted that I was missing a resistor! After three other calls, I would have thought that would have been discovered. They've replaced sensors. They've worked on the "box." Still not fixed.

They did a good job overall, but we had a small problem with them as well. The duct work got messed up when they were installing the system. Besides that they did a good job. We would recommend them to other people because everyone makes mistakes.
Description of Work: There was an alarm system installed in our 2400 square foot home by ADT. It included wireless sensors, key pads and alarms.

They do a wonderful job and are very quick to respond to any alarm. They call us right away if the alarm goes off to make sure we are OK. When we moved in, they came out and went through the house to explain to us how everything worked since the system had already been installed.
Description of Work: They monitor our 2000 square foot home and we pay them on a monthly basis.

Was told by ADT office to allow 40 to 45 minutes for estimate. The representative arrived 35 minutes late. When I told him I only had 15 minutes left he indicated this wouldn't be enough time and asked to reschedule later in the day, which we did. He was 15 minutes late for the second appointment. The actual time for the estimate was over three and a half hours. I felt the length was an attempt to make it more difficult for me to say no to the subsequent very high estimate ($2,200 with a $52 a month monitoring fee and a three year contract). I think the quality is probably good, but I really felt manipulated.

The installer from ADT Security did a good job of explaining how to use the alarm. He worked quickly and didn t leave a mess I was very pleased. He was very polite and courteous. I would recommend him to friends and family.
Description of Work: ADT Security installed a take over replace panel and keypad.
