A few months ago, we had a new roof installed by K&D. They did a great job including the rebuilding of part of the side of the chimney, which is coquino. Over the weekend, we had a pretty substantial thunderstorm with some strong winds. As a result, a branch from one of our trees broke off and impaled in my new roof. We called K&D today and within a couple hours, Rob the owner came by to take a look. The damage was not as bad as it looked and he was able to remove the branch and patch the hole. Rob of K&D Roofing came at the agreed upon time and was very helpful by answering all of my question about the two types of roofs I have on my house. He gave me a couple of options for when and how to address any upcoming roof problems. I felt he knew a lot about my roof and gave me some very good advice. He was very pleasant to talk to and was very much at ease with my questions and concerns. He offered to return in two years to reinspect my roof and alert me to any new problems.

Excellent. We had to work the entire deal from a distance as I hadn't yet permanently moved to my place in Florida. I originally felt the price was high, but since then speaking with other neighbors, it is a fair price given my roof type and pitch. Fred was very patient in explaining that and easy to work with. I felt I could trust them, so they had approval to start work before I got there. They were prompt and efficient in the installation from start to finish. The clean-up guy was here well over two hours afterwards seeking all the debris and tiny nails that may have come off the roof. Reading the other reviews, I did have to call twice regarding the follow-on wind mitigation inspection, but I had no issue, K&D responded and inspector did finally come out and everything was in good order.

Installed the roof in the time frame that they said it would be completed. Did it for exactly what they said they would do it for. The issues that I did have were addressed promptly and were above my expectations. An overall great experience with this company.

The work took about 3-4 days to complete. The roof turned out fine. I was finding some nails around the yard so we had to have them come back out to check for them.

Rob came and spent about 20 minutes thoroughly checking the roof as well as the ceiling for leaks and moisture. He explained everything he was doing and was very nice to work with. He determined that we didn't have a leak, the roof was in good shape, and that the ceiling work was defective. He charged us nothing for his time! He was very honest and we definitely would use him for work in the future.

ROB WAS HERE ON TIME, VERY PROFESSIONAL, GAVE ME ALL THE DETAILS AND I HAD TO MAKE HIM TAKE THE $50 AS HE DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE IT DUE TO COMING BACK OUT.

Fantastic job. Very professional and timely. Showed up on time and finished in two days. Came back to take care of a few concerns. Fantastic clean up. My roof looks fantastic! The only issue has been timeliness in receiving some required paperwork, i.e. the final inspection and information for my insurance company to get a discount. I've mailed and called several times but no reply as of yet. My recommendation would be to not make final payment until you have all promised to you in hand. Otherwise, very happy with final product and would and have recommended to other people. Addition To Review: 11/17/14 The grade is being lowered to non-responsiveness for paperwork that I need to lower my home insurance.

They were always on time, always professional and always responsive to any of our concerns. Both the sales representative and their quality control man were very good. The price came in lower than most of the competitors, the quality of the work was excellent and the few things we asked them to clean up and repair they readily did. One slight goof was caught early on in the color of the shingle we selected. For some reason there was a disconnect with the home office but it never got to any serious complication. The subcontractor they used to haul away the old roof debris could have been more careful with the huge trash bin they used and we did sustain some slight damage to our driveway.

Overall I grade this project just average. The shingles themselves look good and we haven't had any leaks, but a couple of crooked dripedges detract from the overall finish. It is in the details that make a company stand out, and my experience was not an "A." My negative experience is a result of scant on-site supervision or follow-through. On a big job like this I know there is a possibility of some damages, but when the site supervisor doesn't follow through after the job to make sure all is well, you end up with a less-than-delighted customer. After almost a year of various types of weather, I am currently satisfied that the roof is sound. Positives: Punctuality by the workers was very good - they started on the designated date, early in the morning, and completed the job in 3 working days. All the materials were delivered on time and the dumpster was dropped off the day of tear-off and picked up the day after job completion. Someone came by after the job to look for nails. The crew replaced lots of rotten sheathing as they found it, and I haven't had any leaks. Questions were answered quickly when I called during the job (see negatives below for add'l info). Their salesman was spot-on with various things other contractors had missed, such as identifying that my chimney cap was leaking (there was rusty evidence of leaking inside the fireplace). He also identified that the dripedge behind an existing gutter was not properly aligned, allowing water to get behind the gutter, run along the soffit and behind the wall, which allowed the stucco to get soaked from the inside. Negatives: The project manager (Trey) only appeared at job commencement and once when I called because of a leak during a rainstorm, midway through the job. There was no proactive communication regarding the status of the project (I had to call several times, but he did address my questions over the phone). There was no follow-up or final walk-through with Trey, which I expected. Punctuality was pretty bad for followup work - there were several repairs that needed to be addressed, which took several additional calls to get done. Leftover materials sat in my driveway for over a week, and a replacement vent mysteriously showed up one day and sat on my front porch for two weeks before I finally called again to get it done. I hope it is evident that I am not totally dissatisfied with the final product, but getting there was a case of frustration and disappointment. If Trey is your site supervisor, tell him the level of communication you expect. To his credit, during the job, materials arrived and the dumpster was removed with perfect timing, so I know he was still involved in the project - just not with me! Fred in sales was highly knowledgeable and competent, and showed a real desire to make things right. Thanks, Fred!

I had a good experience. They are very thorough and very professional. They are in the high end price but we are hoping that they will do a good job. UPDATE: The work was supposed to start on May 19th, due to weather they moved it to May 20th. May 20th, no one showed up. I called them saying no one had shown up. At 4 pm I was told someone would be at my house 11am on May 21st and the work would be completely done that day. 11o clock came and went and no one showed up. My roofing didn't begin till the May 22nd, they didn't finish it and they came back on the 23rd. It is still not finished. I have made several phone calls to the owner but have yet to speak to him. Today, May 27th, I have a partially finished roof, trash everywhere. I expected them to come back today to finish it, no one has showed and it is already 1 pm. I am very disappointed because communicated has been very relaxed. I have tried calling the office, sales person, and contractor and none have responded since realizing that my roof is incomplete. I want people to be aware that they do a very good sales job but the communication fails after that.

I left my job today to be home for the Tuesday, 4:30 pm appointment with Fred Smith and no one showed, nor was there a phone call. It was a lovely day to check my roof, but this company didn't care enough to show up.

I got 5 quotes from different comapanies off angies list , funny thing is one of the reasons I went with K and D was because they were on time for the estimate and the materials they were going to use, definately not for the price they were the most expensive. That turned out to be the only time I got any kind of communication or customer service. I wish wish wish I had read just a little more of their reviews because I see I'm definatelty not the only one and would have chosen another roofer. I have never paid so much money to be treated so badly, when I tell you they do not care I mean they do not care! First they didnt start when they were supposed to my supplies sat in the rain on the ground in my yard in about a half foot of water before being put on. Also I understand work getting backed up but all you have to do is be honest with the customer and COMMUNICATE....It takes just a minute to call and say " sorry but we will not be out today" etc... I do expect a phone call in return when I leave a msg. I sat and waited nicely through most of this but can now see I should have been the squeaky wheel. I can relate to the other bad reviewers with the crew there was one guy who was over seeing the job who was in and out, mostly out and the rest did not speak english. I had to call the city to set up the final inspection, which I knew nothing about since I am not a contractor, but thank god my insurance agent did. I got sent certified mail that my materials were not yet paid for after I had already paid in full, extremely scary for me and I'm sure they think thats no big deal and normal for them but not for me! I was told two very personal stories by two different employees about the office manager and the owner for excuses to the communication problems, I'm sorry but I don't need to know that and it is not my fault. This has just been a soft summary of how things went. I definately did NOT want to write a bad review I don't want them to lose business after all I have to rely on them to do repairs if needed for the next ten years, but the way I was treated was not good at all, I wouldn't want anyone else to go through that for sure the stress was horrible. God knows just like everyone else thats the last thing a person needs more of. Good Luck.

Kevin was responsive and professional when he came to our house. He arrived when he said he would. He took measurements and made suggestions. He did not provide us a written estimate, which we would have required if we had hired this company. We however, did not go with this provider because they used sub contractors and we wanted a regular work crew to do the work. We have had bad experiences with sub contractors in the past and would never go that way again.

I had used K&D for some repairs in the past. Rob was punctual, the estimate was clear on what I was paying for. The work was done on time, the inevitable mess was kept to a minimum, and cleanup was done as promised. Each day a job foreman would knock on the door and ask if I had any questions or concerns. I was provided with the necessary paperwork for my homeowner's insurance. They were FABULOUS!

They did the job, no fault with that. They have since then called us many times to say an inspector will come by, and they will leave a paper for us, we were also told we did not have to be home. This has happened so many times, that we assumed the roof was inspected & the paper blew away. A different contractor did some work for us 2 weeks ago, and he informed us that their was an open permit on our house, the roofer had never finished with the inspector. We have called K & D, every day for 10 days with no call backs. They, K & D roofing, required us to join Angie's list before they would start the job. If it's not inspected, i can surely say it's not a completed job.

Well, this is a long story, but here goes. Several months prior to me calling K & D, I had some issues with several different leaks in my roof, it was crazy that I would have 3 different spots leaking all relatively close to eachother. Not knowing what to do, my wife and I located the paperwork from when we originally purchased the home, to find the guy who helped put the roof on our addition. To keep this part short (And i've put a nice and appropriate grade on his review) he came out 3 times, charged me a total of $1,500, half of which he said I had to pay up front, he was rude, and unprofessional etc. About 2 months later, the leaks were back and I had only noticed it because it had just started raining heavily again. Now to K & D, The GREAT PART! After all that time, money and frustration, my wife said "Let's call those K & D people, i see they do a lot of work in our neighborhood" (Mind you, this was pre-angies list for me). I gave them a call, they were SUPER nice, and friendly, and responded in a very timely fashion. The owner came out, I met with him, very very cool, calm knowlegable/people person, can't say enough about how much that alone means to me. He was at my house for only 20 minutes, when he found the problem that I had the previous guy come out 3 times for. It turns out that a year and 1/2 ago I had my roof "squirrel proofed" and both sewer exaust pipes were covered with another pipe and a screen, too keep squirrels from chewing on the boot rubber as a precaution. Well, the pipe on the outside had a gap between the pipe on the inside and water was collecting there, which rottet through the boot. He told me the issue, and I told him I was going on Vacation and asked him how much it was going to cost. He said "I think $400 should cover it, and don't worry, i'll come in Saturday while your out, fix it up and we'll get back in touch with eachother for the money". He did exactly as he said, and like a week later he called to come double check with his sensor that all the areas were dry, at which point I paid him. It was the smoothest home repair i've had to date. Thanks K & D, really really great work and right the first time!

They were on time for the estimate. Their proposal was very complete and they had a massive number of references. The day of the installation they were extremely efficient and they left the yard immaculate. They finished almost in one day (they came back the second day to caulk a piece of replacement soffit). Overall a very positive experience and the roof looks great!

The owner came sat down with us and discussed the type of roof we wanted (style and color) Explained in detail the new vents that are now on roofs. Decided on a time. Set a time.Roofers came in and covered all outside area to be affected by falling debris. Removed the old roof and replaced it with the new one. This all happened in less than 2 days. Cleared the area and checked (twice) for any nails or debris that may have been left. Swept the grass for roofing nails. They were VERY good.There was a roofing job going on around the corner at the same time. They did not seem as efficient and good. The other group was there for twice the time.

Sales person Fred Smith was extremely helpful with selecting a roof that fit my budget and style preference. The weather caused many delays but K&D was consistent with providing updates. A leak from the removal of flashing caused damage to the kitchen ceiling but was repaired.when it was brought to their attention. The price was higher than other quotes but I chose them because of they were helpful with educating me on the process of selecting a quality roof.

It was great. They did a wonderful job. They were very professional. They cleaned up everything.

K&D came highly recommended, they have done many roofs in my neighborhood. I did not have the overwhelmingly positive experience that most of my neighbors report. Communication didn't seem to get to the crew concerning an issue in one spot, and scheduling delays were not all understandable (there were delays due to rain). They did correct a problem in one area so warranty response looks good. In the end, I feel I got a quality roof at a good price, so I am satisfied overall.

Work went as planned. We are very satisfied and recommend K and D Roofing without reservation.
