The owner, Mr. Cheek, came to my home to make an estimate and we discussed each aspect of the job, including the need for three matching thresholds of the same wood that I selected for the floor. One required trimming of a tile floor and another required the removal of a marble threshold, both of which did not seem to be a problem until it came to actually doing it. While the work was performed as requested, Mr. Cheek advised that his background is in carpeting and he made representations that were inaccurate when bidding the job. I was reminded why every aspect of your job should be placed in the contract even if it seems miniscule.
While performing my walk-thru on the last day, I was told not to open my bathroom door as the glue was still setting on the threshold. As such, I approved the job and tipped the installers, feeling relieved that all was complete as requested. When I opened my door that night, however, the threshold was not the wood I selected and looked like it wasn't even real wood. Consequently, the request not to open the door for final inspection appeared in retrospect to be rather disceitful. The team of installers returned the next day and installed the correct threshold and seemed none too happy about it, advising that it was Mr. Cheek himself who personally delivered the material for the threshold the previous day. When I confronted Mr. Cheek about this, he said that he thought it looked close enough. I advised that I should have been told BEFORE installation of a different material so I, the homeowner, could make the decision of what to do.
The flooring is gorgeous and the craftsmanship is excellent. The team sent to my home did not come on Friday to deliver materials as advised and did not start work on Monday as advised. After some serious heartburn, I went forward with the job and it was completed on schedule. Mr. Cheek blamed all miscommunications on his lead installer while I believe the issues of communication stem from the top. In the end, I requested a 5% discount for all of the issues and Mr. Cheek gave me what amounts to slightly more than a 1.5% discount.

John and his store have been at Jax Beach for years. It's a small operation(as far as I can tell, just John, the installer, and a part-timer who minds the store when John's out doing estimates.). The store's a bit cramped and the selection isn't huge, but it's big enough, and there are some excellent values. He came to the house with the chosen samples, and I made my pick. He was very prompt and professional, as was his installer. It looks beautiful. I doubt there will be any problems, but I feel good knowing that John will be there next week and next year. Definitely recommend

Very well. They had the best price and selection, the salesman was very knowledgeable and he listened to what we needed and showed us only that. He did not try to sell us anything else other than what we wanted which was nylon carpet. They came out on time to measure and there was no charge for the visit. They had a better price for quality on the product and the measure was free. We looked at the building supply stores and a large flooring chain and found that they are not the value that you think they are when compared to this local business. Beaches Flooring has professional and helpful staff and quality product at a fair price.
