Flametech Fireplace & Grill Co

Mark and the craftsmen at Flametech sell and install fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, and central vacuum systems. Their showroom is stocked with good examples of their possibilities. Mark is a self described detail fanatic. We chose Flametech because we were confident that they could handle a complicated installation that included removing the old, inoperative 1995 era gas firebox & vent and replacing it with a modern gas linear design including placement for a flat screen TV above the fireplace. The installation included conduit for the TV and sound system wiring & equipment. The coralstone surround is beautiful and well worth the wait. The entire job took 13 weeks, much longer than expected. This was due to a combination of my travel, and Flametech's busy schedule. There were some days when we expected the workers to arrive, but they were pulled to other jobs. When they were on the job they were professional, friendly, and very skilled. We have had to have two follow-up service calls, one for a gas leak and one for an inoperative electronic component. In each case the technicians arrived within an hour of our call to Flametech and repaired the offending equipment. Mark explained that they do not do "finish work" so we had to get a carpenter to finish the drywall and we are waiting for the baseboard to be reinstalled. I installed the TV and sound system electronics. Flametech ran the conduit for all the wiring and did a first rate job which made my installation of the TV electronics easy. This was a complicated installation and we are very happy with the end result. I will try to post a photo of the completed installation.

My grill and cabinet in my cage room was falling apart, it was about 15 years old and although it was covered by a roof the side was exposed to the rain. I joined Angie's list and called on 5 cabinet companies. All were very prompt and professional however they said that they could not help me, their work too would fall apart. We drove by Flametech and stopped in, I saw the grills were FireMagic and knew I did not want to spend that much on the grill but scheduled an appointment with Mark Walker the owner to visit my home. I told him I wanted to use a Blaze Grill that I had found on the internet and he very quickly convinced me that it would pitt and look terrible within a year. I was pleasantly surprised that Mark could come very close to my initial budget with a far superior grill. The cabinet is built of Cinderblock and will never fall apart again. I was not found of Stainless Steel Doors on the cabinet and Mark suggested that I use my existing door which I loved. The sink I ordered was out of stock and Mark was so patient waiting and stalling his work for 3 weeks but as soon as I got my sink he completed the job PERFECTLY, IT IS BEAUTIFUL. I was unhappy with the Stucco as there was a line and he had the company come out and redo it until it was perfect. I would use him again if I had a need, all of the crafts men were outstanding, we are thrilled.

We visited the Flametech showroom to learn about the range of possibilities. We had looked at other places that were much more expensive. The price was reasonable. We were able to use some of our existing hardware to save some money. The installation was no additional charge. They did a great job of listening, advising, and installing what we needed.

Although we spent thousands with this company on our fireplaces as well as installation and also paid a substantial price to build our outdoor bar area, they refuse to service and replace the lanai fireplace screen that completely rusted within one year of installation. This decorative screen cost well over $800. MARK (the owner) blamed the manufacturer, Lenox, and stated the lengthy delay in resolving the issue was due to their refusal to replace the screen. I contacted the manufacturer directly to file a complaint and was advised that they were not aware of the problem but would contact Mark and resolve this issue. I spent months making calls to Mark - ALL of the appointments he scheduled were missed without notice over and over again. I listened to every excuse in the book from divorce to illness. I contacted the manufacturer again and found that a refund WAS sent to Flametech on my behalf months prior. Months have now turned into years and I have yet to see a refund or replacement. This guy has made it abundantly clear that he has no intention of correcting the situation. BUYER BEWARE - this guy is NOT on the up and up. My contractor has also refused any future dealings with this company.

They were very professional. They were very clean and they brought all the equipment. They were very informative in explaining to me what they were doing. They were very patient in describing to me what was the cause of the issue and how they rectified it. They explained to me how to stay away from the issue. The only thing is they were supposed to come by 1:00 and they called me at 3:00 and told me that they weren't going to be able to make it. But, when they were around here in my town they called me and asked me if they could come in.

As far a Do's and Don'ts - DO yourself a favor if you are in need of a new fireplace (they also sell gas grill's and fireplace inserts) call this company. First of all - best price, second - of the 4 people I dealt with, all were professional, courteous, and willing to help. If I had anything negative to say it would be that it seemed to take a long time from the time I gave them the go-ahead until the time they actually performed the work which was 5 weeks. However, in their favor I believe much of that was spent ordering the fireplace and shipment, most of which is out of their control. I only got one other estimate for this work and that 'local' company didn't really seem to want the job. They were also worried about the facade and recommended that we take it all down and not replace it (that was not an option). What really sealed their fate was that the estimate was almost twice the cost, at $4800, of FlameTech . I think that goes back to the impression the salesman left on us that he didn't really want the job so he bid very high. He was supposed to call back but did not.
