All Brevard Hot Tubs

Their guy came to my house and looked at the hot tub. He informed my wife that there was a hairline crack in the tub that was not repairable and did not diagnose the leak as requested. I was charged 150 for the service call. I called them back and said I would try to seal the crack myself so could they please come out and repair the hose leak as originally requested. Their guy came out again and said it would take an $80 part plus labor. I asked how much time and his rate. He indicated his rate was 150 an hour and he was not sure how much time it would takes. The rate seemed very high but assumed it would be quality work (Im a 20+ year computer system analyst and I don't make that rate). I authorized the work and he ordered the part. He came out to fix the leak and I made sure to note his starting time because of his high rate so you pay attention to these things. After 1 hour and 20 minutes of work he informed me the hot tub still leaked. After he worked on it a second hose coupling was now leaking so it was a direct result of the work done. He proceeded to inform me that he would have to do all the work he just did plus this new leak and I was fully responsible to pay for this work and all of the future entire re-work. Then I got his invoice and was charged 250 dollars. I asked why the charge was 250 when an hour and 20 minutes @ 150 an hour would be 200. At the time I was told that there where parts and supplies he needed to cover. Wait a minute I just authorized a separate charge for parts. Now there are more hidden part charges? I was very unhappy but wrote a check for the services. Then I went in my backyard and found hot tub foam insulation refuse laying all over the back yard. Very unprofessional. At that point I called my bank and stopped payment on my check. I received a call that said if I did not pay they would put a lien on my property per florida law. I said I had some concerns with the quality of work and I wanted to discuss them. There response was ? I really don?t care about that I only care about getting paid?. WOW, I still made an attempt to discuss my concerns but the responses never addressed them, rather deflections about non-relevant things like it is an old hot tub and they are prone to problems. Nothing to the fact that the leak was caused by the work performed. Again not explanation on how they arrived at 250 dollars as well. Apparently companies that provide pool related services can put a lien on your property for non-payment. While I understand the necessity of this to protect companies that do good work and don?t get paid, it unfortunately also allows companies that overcharge and do poor quality work to have a get out of jail free card and essentially hold a gun to the consumers head to demand payment. I went to there facility and paid them in cash. I again asked for reasons why I was billed more than the hourly rate I was quoted. This time I was told that they don't bill in partial hours only full hours. You would think if I was billed for 2 hours and there was still 40 minutes left on the clock they would have cleaned up the refuse all over my back yard and not left my gate of my backyard open for which my cat escaped and costed me over an hour finding her. Should you need work from a company that does this type of service, make sure you check into them thoroughly and don?t make the same mistake I made. For this reason I would never recommend this company.
