Penguin Moving and Portable Storage

Did not go with them! The lady that they sent out only counted half of what I had and gave me a reasonable quote, I thought it was for everything, after I read the contract it stated that items NOT on the list would be charged extra! She only counted 10 boxes in the house and there had to be over 35+, sitting where she could see them. She only counted PART of the furniture, which would again be EXTRA! So her QUOTE really meant nothing. Glad that I went with a company that charged by the hour, no matter what or how much you had. Ended up costing me half of what this company would have charged!

The move went wonderful, I would use them again.

It was fantastic. It was fabulous. I would absolutely use them in the future. It was definitely reasonable and one of the best prices. They're an A+.

Let me start by saying that you need a rating higher than excellent... Such as outstanding! I live in New York, and my parents live in Florida. Due to accessability issues, my parents needed to move from their 2 story home into a 1 level. Both my parents (particularly my mom) have accumulated quite the collection of "treasures" over the years, which are very special (and fragile) to them. There was no way for me to be there for the whole packing and moving process, so we were all on edge about the move. I called Penguin moving for a quote, and spoke directly to the owner, Wendy Fairbanks. She was very helpful on the phone, giving me a ballpark quote, and telling me about the different options available for help with packing, loading, etc. We set up a time for her to go out to my parents house to give them an estimate. I cringed when my phone rang that evening, as my parents had not been impressed with the first 2 companies that had come for estimates. I was very pleasantly surprised when my mom said "I don't care what you need to do, but Penguin moving is the only company I am letting touch my stuff". I have to say I was still slightly skeptical, as Penguins quote came in a bit lower than the other 2, and they are licensed and insured. We decided to have Penguin not only move the contents, but to have them box everything up to prepare it for the move. My mom wanted to be able to oversee the process of packing, but it would have been too long for her to do all in 1 day, so Penguin was very accomodating, offering to split the packing into 2 shorter days for my moms benefit. I was set to arrive the day before the move, however, due to New York weather, my flight was delayed to the following day. I expected my parents to say they had to change the move, but they said, oh it won't be a problem, everything will be fine. They were absolutely right. I didn't arrive to their new place until midday on move-in day, and everything was going very smooth. Everything made it to their new place, and they couldn't have been more pleased. The movers were pleasant, professional, and worked quickly. I started unpacking the boxes that afternoon, while they were finishing the move, and my mother actually told me I was doing it wrong, and that she had called the owner back, and asked if there was someone available to come unpack "correctly" for her the following day, so that I didn't break something! Well, they made it happen, came out the next day, and got them all unpacked. I can't say enough good things about the entire experience with Penguin moving!
