Response from CJ'S Landscaping
The customer requested lawn maintenance, and specifically asked that we mow the lawn higher then her previous lawn service. We agreed to start that week, and came as promised to service property. We cut, edged, trimmed and blew off. No issues that we were aware or informed of. the following week, we showed up again on our designated day and the customers were home. They left the garage door open and their screen covering in place during the entire time we were doing work. The reason I mention this is it would have been very easy to eliminate that issue had they been somewhat considerate of our work needs. Simply closing the garage would avoided getting some grass clippings on the screen. In the back along the pool screen, there is no room to edge or line trim. The slab that supports the birdcage(screen enclosure) goes right to the edge of the screen and sod is installed directly next to the screen. I informed the customer of this on my first meeting with them. We spent almost 20 minutes carefully edging this area to try and allow future maintenance of the area. The customer was complaining then that there was dirt on the INSIDE of the birdcage. Unavoidable in the situation. Trying to go above and beyond, we went INSIDE the pool area and blew the dirt off. The property was left in much better condition then 2 weeks before, with all items trimmed, and areas that had never been edged(pool) cleaned up. The customer called and cancelled service, telling me that he couldn't find any company that did their job to their satisfaction, and that he was going to do the work himself. The only reason I mention this is that my men told me they had indicated they have had multiple companies and had fired them all. Some people are not reasonable as to expectations for a landscape maintenance company. Expecting there to not be any debris left on a screen door that covers the double car garage or a small amount of dirt along the inside of a bird cage that needs to be edged less then 2" away is both unreasonable and unattainable. Finally, the customer is incorrect in the pricing of the job. I quoted then $85.00 for the month, or $21.25 per week. This included cutting, edging, hedge & tree trimming and clean-up. I did not charge them because they were unhappy, and THEY PAID NOTHING. Really disappointed that in spite of all this, they would still take the time to write a negative review. We do quality work and go out of our way to keep reasonable people happy & satisfied. Some people are never happy. I realize after 33 years, you can't keep everyone happy, but it still bothers me when someone looks only at a few minor issues, and disregards the entire scope of the job. Having had multiple customers for 20 plus years makes me confident that we are "on the right page" as our customers, and that meeting and exceeding expectations is the norm.
