JBL Air Duct Cleaning A/C Service

very good thought the initial inspection was good very honest

Contacted the company for their whole house package deal. They quickly made an appt. for service. I told the rep. that my dryer could not be moved and would they still be able to clean my dryer vent. I was told that it would not be a problem but that the service person would be more that happy to assist me. When the service provider arrived, I asked him to walk me through the process, he ignored my questions and asked to be directed to the a/c unit. Then he told me that I had the worse possible a/c filter for my unit. When I commented that I thought we were supposed to get a new filter from the company, he told me that it was not a very good filter either. Without checking the location of the dryer vent on the outside of the house, he told me that he would charge me extra for cleaning the dryer vent because he would have to go on the roof. Then he told me that I had mold in my ac system and vents and it would cost an additional $1950 to fix. I am not sure how he know this, he did not check the vents by looking in them, he looked at them with a flashlight from the ground, not even with a ladder. He did not look at the a/c system either. When I told him that I was not told about an extra charge for the dryer vent cleaning, he got upset and told me that no one in "his" company would ever say that it would be for free. I told him that I was not told that there was going to be an extra charge. And he kept insisting that I was wrong. When I finally asked him if he was calling me a liar, he responded that perhaps I just didn't know what I was saying. At this point, I told him that if he didn't want to do the work in my house that he could leave. He packed his tools and stormed out. I called and spoke to customer service they had the wrong service person listed on my record. And all they did was apologize and tell me that they would tell another supervisor. This is quite possibly the worse experience I have ever had with a service provider. I don't care how good the deal seemed, it just wasn't worth the headache and heartache.

I told them to leave my house as I learned that they are only looking to sell services.

We were pleased with the service. They called us that they were running early, and wanted to know if we could see them 2 hours earlier than scheduled. We took the early visit and they provided all the service promised, cleaned up after themselves and found the start of a mold problem in the A/C that we were unaware of. They suggested that they could clean the mold problem, but we deferred to our normal A/C service provider for the mold removal. We would recommend these folks again, and may use this service on an annual basis. In Orlando they use the name Florida A/C. The phone number in Angies List was the same, but the vendor name was different than Florida A/C.

The overall experience was excellent. I never had any one do the job so well. I got three quotes for this work but they were the cheapest of all. They were very responsive. They used to take me through everything in case if I had any question. They explained me about the problems which might come up in the future. They knew exactly what they were doing.

terrible. immediately upon entering house, he said he had to perform tests. of course he found excess work that would run 600 to 1200 dollars. of course he wanted to give me a good deal because " i am jewish just like you". did he do the work??? i have no idea. i have been treated better by used car dealers and street vendors in mexico. i finally told him to get out of my house. when i called jbl to report him, they were, of course, shocked to hear that any of their reps would do such a thing. baloney!!!!! a true rip off.

It was a terrible experience. I hired this company to clean my air ducts and dryer vent. I had a coupon for $89.00 to clean all the A/C ducts and free dryer vent cleaning. I have 2 air conditioners. They did have a big vacuume type machine for cleaning the ducts. They connected the machine to 1 duct in the first air conditioner, and then the 2nd. Then they looked at my a/c units and said that the coils had mold on them and even if I clean my ducts, mold is still in the air. I authorized them to clean the coils and they also blew out each unit to prevent build-up mold. They guaranteed that my units would not leak (which they tend to do) for 1 year. If they leak within a year, they will come back and clean them out again. I reminded them that I had a coupon to clean the dryer vent. They did this quickly and not very thoroughly. Lots of dust was left behind my dryer. This first visit cost me $850.00. Within 2 weeks my air conditioner started leaking again. I called them and told them about my warranty. They set up an appointment for the same day. I was thrilled! When the 2 servicemen arrived they started taking my air conditioner apart and trying to sell me a UV light for over $500.00 and permanent filters for $300.00 They said this was why my unit was leaking. I reminded them that the coils had been cleaned and the unit blown out for the build up of mold. They said this was not the problem and that the last technician was wrong in diagnosing the problem. I told them I wasn't going to pay all that extra money and they actually tried to sell me a whole new air conditioner! I told them I was not spending any money and they quickly packed up and left. They did not fix the leak and they left a mess on the floor. I would never use this company again. It is a shame that they advertise so much. Don't ever use this company!

So in conclusion. No ducts were cleaned. They left the dryer dirt for me to pick up. They did not add the 1lb of freon. They cut a hole in my insulated ducting and covered it with a piece of tape. I have called twice and no one has returned my calls. I asked them not to cash my check till this has bee resolved and of course they've cashed the check. Had I read JBL's report on Angie's List. I could have avoided this.

I contacted JBL to have my air ducts and dryer vent cleaned and A/C units serviced. I had several coupons stating low prices for multiple services. With 2 A/C units, I anticipated spending under $250 for the services I needed. My original appointment was scheduled for 5/17/09. The technician no sooner walked in my door than he said he couldn't clean my vents because I had pets, therefore he was positive that I have mold in my vents. He said if he cleaned the vents without first eliminating the mold, then everyone in the house would be very sick. He proceeded to tell me that people end up in the hospital because of mold in the air from the A/C vents. All this was before he even looked inside my A/C system! He then told me that the only way I could elminate the mold was to have some very expensive services performed. I showed him the coupons, but was told that the coupons were for lesser services. Specifically, I was told that the coupon for $59 coil cleaning was only for water cleaning, not acid cleaning, and that the coupon for $249 for a U/V lamp was for an inferior quality lamp. I am a single older woman, and felt very intimidated by the sales/scare tactics. I ended up with a bill for $1815 because I let an unethical technician convince me that I needed these expensive services. As for the quality of services performed, I was very disappointed. I supplied the trash bags, I supplied the ladder they needed, and I supplied a plastic pan that was used to capture the "acid" that drained from the coils (this plastic pan was the lid of a storage box in my garage, which was taken without my knowledge or consent). The vent cleaning was accomplished by punching a whole in the A/C unit and sucking air through the system, whereas the JBLDUCT.com web site says "JBL uses state-of-art equipment and the latest technology to thoroughly clean your home's ventilation system. We clean each duct individually from the register all the way to the main unit.". The floor in my house was left damp & dirty. The A/C unit in my garage is leaking cold air into my garage. No A/C checkup was performed. I had to literally argue with the technician to get the dryer vent cleaned, and he did not do a complete job because he didn't even move the dryer from the wall and clean behind it. The JBLDUCT.com web site says "We use equipment designed specifically for cleaning dryer vents. The inside of your dryer vent will be brushed and vacuumed from end to end. We also clean lint from inside your clothes dryer.". I was told the expensive U/V lamps that were installed as part of this service had a lifetime warranty on the light and the bulb. Later research determined that bulbs need replacing annually. I have wasted 2 Sundays sitting home waiting for a rescheduled tech, but no one showed up either time. This company advertises cheap prices but then oversells the customer on much more expensive services, using scare tactics to make the customer spend more.

Once the technician found the place and got through the gate, he discovered mold in one of the downstairs units. Naturally that change the price. Although it did change the price, I felt it was a fair price for the services rendered. We approve the changes, the technician performs the services, got paid, and left. Unfortunately after he left and was back at his office, it was discovered that the unit he worked on would not turn on. Since I was out of town on business, my wife and kids were stuck with the downstairs not been air-conditioned. My wife called to try and get a service representative back out to fix the problem and was told that since the next several days were a Jewish holiday, no one could come in until Friday. This was on Monday. Hearing this, I called and spoke with the owner of the establishment. He was very adamant that no one could come, now, until Thursday. I told him this was unacceptable and that if this was his stance I would put a hold on the credit card payment. After numerous threats from him the conversation ended that no one would be out until Thursday and that I would put a hold on his payment. Magically within an hour, a service tech was on his way to fix the problem. It seems that when the original service tech doing the cleaning didn't flush the drain lines, therefore the unit would not take on. Once the tech came and drained the lines, the unit started working again. We have noticed a duct in a small room that never got cleaned which shows a considerable difference and smell from the rest of the house. But due to the difficulty in getting them to come back out on a situation they created, I'm afraid to call them back out. Be careful using this company, and make sure you follow through with everything they do. Cutting corners seems to be a practice they use.
