I will write the GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY of working with AIR MASTER: The GOOD: I have been working with AIR Master's Carlos Valdes (15366 SW 21st PLACE Miramar, FL. 33027) since 2004 when he was recommended by a co-worker. I always trusted him and followed his advise and agreed to pay what he recommended the A/C Unit Air Handler and Condenser Unit needed. He always told me he guaranteed his work for 1 Year (12 months). I never had an issue with him before the work he did on 12/19/2012. Back on November of 2010, Carlos Valdes came after my A/C unit got frozen, so he recommended, and I agreed and paid for: Clean Evaporator Coil and drain pan. Flushed drain line. Checked Freon change and adjusted pressure; Installed new inlay board and insulated inside air handler. After he was done, the A/C unit was working good until the next time it got frozen, so he came back on 12/19/2012 and did the same he had done back on 2010, and also replaced the old thermostat with a new digital one. I paid $550.00 for all. The BAD: On the night of Sunday 05/12/2013, the A/C froze again, so I called him on Monday 05/13/13 and made an appointment for Thursday 05/16/2013. He came as agreed on Thursday 05/16/2013 and told me that he could clean the Evaporator Coil again and also clean the Air blower inside the Air handler, and that it would cost me $400.00; I asked him why would I spend another $400.00 for cleaning the Evaporator Coil when he had just done that less than 5 months ago, and that last time he did that same job , the A/C unit lasted almost 2 years (24 months) before it froze again. I asked him what he could do for me based on the long working relationship since 2004. He asked me: "So do you want me to just clean the evaporator Coil for free????", I said, not for free, but you should understand that if I just paid you $550.00 in 12/19/2013, and the A/C unit froze again, you should give me some kind of guarantee right? He said: "I do not guarantee the cleaning of the evaporated Coil, once I clean it, it is YOUR responsibility to maintain it with filter changes". I told him that I have been using the same kind of A/C filters since the day he installed the new unit (back on 2006), and that I change them not every month, but every 3 weeks to ensure the A/C unit last longer, also, that I put a cup of Clorox in the drain every time I change the A/C filter to clean the drain as recommended. He then said: "I charge $350.00 for cleaning the evaporator Coil to everyone and why should I charge you any less?" , then he said: "It is your fault for having so much dust in your house and not cleaning your house correctly". I ignored his nasty attitude since I really wanted to get the A/C working again, and I continued speaking with him and went ahead and explained to him why I was surprised that after paying him $550.00 on 12/19/2012, the A/C would get frozen again in less than 5 months. I told him that last time he cleaned the evaporator coil, I used the same filters, I changed them every 3 weeks, and did exactly the same I did after the last time he came. The difference is that the first time he cleaned the evaporator coil it lasted 2 years (24 months), and last time it only lasted less than 5 months (From 12/19/12 to 05/12/13). He got even more unprofessional and told me: "there is nothing I can do to help you, and you should be thankful that I am not charging you for all the advise I have been giving you today, since I usually charge at least $80.00 just to come here". I told him, that I understood his time was valuable and that I appreciated it that he did not charge me any money to just tell me why did the A/C froze again just before 5 months after his last job, and that it was the least he could do since he did not honor his guarantee. The UGLY: I called Carlos Valdes today, Friday 05/17/2013 and asked him why would he asked me for $400.00 to clean the evaporator coil again as well as the Air blower inside the air handler, when last time he cleaned the evaporator coil (on 12/19/12) he did not clean the air blower, and asked him if that could be the reason why the A/C got frozen again in less than 5 months? All I wanted was an answer, an honest answer, being that he seemed careless about the fact that I paid him $550.00 just back on 12/19/12 and he was giving me no guarantee whatsoever now. He started yelling at me, he got very nasty and disrespectful and told me: "How many times do I have to tell you what I spend 3 hrs. telling you yesterday?" I ignored his very unprofessional was of speaking to me and asked him in a calm manner if I was the only customer that ever complained to him, since he sounded really upset and unprofessional, and that all I needed was an answer to finally understand where my $550.00 went? Carlos Valdes continued yelling at me and said: "Yes, you are the only one ever complaining about me, and I told you already that it is not my fault that your house is filthy and full of dust and that there is nothing IO can do for the $550.00 you already paid me, I do not guarantee that kind of job".... I just told him that I knew what I had to do, which is to complaint about his unprofessionalism, and I hung up on him. I believe that this individual has no right to yell at any customer that is merely asking for an explanation, specially after he cashed my check and he never had any issues with any of my prompt payments. Clearly Carlos Valdes cannot deal with customers unless they agree 100% on what he says and charges, but once a customer questions his price or reasons, he gets very upset, nasty and unprofessional. I would never ever deal with this individual again, and I would like to get my money back, or a portion of it, based on the faulty job he performed. IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE TO AVOID ANY HARM TO ME OR MY FAMILY: I need to be careful when dealing with this individual. Since my address is here, I am hopping that Carlos Valdes does not react in a more violent manner after reading this honest and truthful review. I really hope he does not retaliates against my honesty and candid feedback here. Thank you kindly.

This is in response to your previous letter stating a member’s complaint regarding work done by our company. On December 19, 2012 I went to (member name removed)’s home for a maintenance and check up, I notice that the evaporator coil was dirty and clogged up and recommended him the coil to be acid washed, I took the coil apart and cleaned it outside with acid and rinse with water hose. I also noticed that his thermostat was very old and not accurate giving a false reading and fan relay board not working propertely and were both replaced. I gave (member name removed) one year warranty on the parts replaced and advice him to do properly maintenance on the unit like replacing the filter every month with a good quality filter. On May 2013, the homeowner called complaining that the a/c was freezing up and when I went to his house and check the system I noticed that the evaporator coil was dirty again and the cabinet walls of the air handler unity and closet was full of dust and using a very poor quality filter. We do not warranty coil cleans because it depends on the proper maintenance of the homeowner to replace the filter every 30 days(sooner if needed). I told him that the evap coil need to be cleaned again and explained the reasons why and gave him a discount on the cleaning from $350 to $200 since I was there not long before. All other parts that were previously replaced were working properly. After two hours of checking the system and explaining the reason why it was not working correctly, he agreed and told me that he needed to speak to his wife regarding payment and he even mentioned instead of cleaning the coil he would rather replace the a/c system. The next day he called me accusing me of not doing a good job and saying that he was looking for reasons on the internet of why the unit freezes up, making me look like a lair and that I wasted my time trying to explain the reason and help him resolve the problem. I have been in the air conditioning field for more than 24 years and always been very professional and honest with my clients.

Carlos came the morning after the a/c stopped working. He worked late to finish the job. He is hones, hard working and dependable.
Description of Work: They repaired the a/c. They cleaned the evaporator coil and drain pipe. They replaced the compressor. They installed a new liquid line.
