+ -1 moreTom Hart came over to do the estimate. I asked him to buy some of the paint and bring it over to paint sample areas to make sure that the paint was what I wanted before the job started. The yellow and taupe were good but the red was slightly off. See discussion above. They did the job in three days. It rained all day the 2nd day and so there were about 6 or 7 guys painting on that day because he brought people in that had been working on exterior jobs. That helped the job get done earlier than expected. They were professional and showed up on time and worked a full day. I will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: They painted all of the walls and baseboards of the interior of our house. We used 3 colors, so while the job was not real complicated, they did an excellent job. I had one accent wall painted red and they did a good job. I would choose your colors from Sherwin Williams or another paint company that they use. They get deep discounts on paint from some suppliers that they use a lot. He told me that the color matching was not very good on vibrant colors like the red and yellow. Before the job, I got paint samples from Sherwin Williams both from their paint swatch selections that I matched up and by giving them a paint sample to do a custom color match for. The custom color matches were good for the yellow, but not good for the red and taupe. I selected Poinsettia from their color section and while their "sample" was real paint because they said that they couldn't provide a normal sample for the red, when Tom brought the paints he had bought based on the information I provided him (which included the color formula), the color formula on his paints were not exactly the same. He thought that they might need to alter the color formula slightly depending on the base that is used. The red "Poinsettia" paint that he bought from Sherwin Williams was slightly different in color formula and look. I called the store to get an explanation as to why the color formula was not the same and there was no one there that could really answer the question. The manager was not there. I decided to just go with the version of Poinsettia that Tom Hart had bought because it was close enough and I didn't want to spend more time and hassle with it.

+ -1 moreI purchased the big deal for 6 hours of trim, door and baseboard painting. It took awhile to get the appointment set up due to my schedule. On the day of the appointment the painter arrived a bit late. He called to get assistance with directions and apologized for being late. This very professional and I appreciate the respect for my time. I had recently had baseboards installed in my home when a new floor was installed. I was not sure how much he could complete in 6 hours. He started by painting the living room and dining room and entry as these were my priority. He did a great job with not only painting but sanding and repainting areas as needed to assure full coverage of paint for the best results. He was able to finish the living room, dining room and entry, as well as the Florida room within the 6 hours. The work was great so I opted to have Nick come back and finish the baseboards in master bedroom(including two walk in closets) as well as another bedroom/office. These two additional rooms took another 4.5 hours. I am very pleased with the results of the painting job and would consider using them to paint the door trims and doors. My only concern is paying per hour versus per the entire job. There is a discounted Hourly rate for Angie's list members, however, I like to know the exact amount I will be spending upfront so as to not run up a huge bill.

They were so efficient that they were not only able to get the high wall done but also have the garage wall and stair rails painted. They also help me to fix two holes in the wall. + -1 moreThey gave me a quote on windows but said they would not guarantee it unless they waterproofed my entire house. The quote was small, just to do the windows. On the bottom of the quote it stated that they would not guarantee work on the windows unless they painted my entire house. They said that they would have to come out and give a separate quote for that and it would be about $3,000.00. They were the highest estimate I ever got on painting my house. I wasn't very happy about that. I do not like the fact that they would not guarantee their work. I can understand why they would not guarantee leaks anywhere else but if I am asking them to seal and caulk the windows tell me it is going to be good or not. The letters they did give me were nice.

+ 0 moreI had purchased an Angie's List deal that was 2 painters for 8 hours for a cost of $399.00. I initially wanted only the front of my house painted and a small portion of the back of the house. When the company's owner came out to give an estimate he said that the entire house had to be pressure wahsed and sealed prior to painting. I wanted the job done correctly, so I agreed to this and in the end I decided to paint the entire exterior of the house. I did end up spending more than I had planned on, (an additional $1500.00 plus I paid for all the paint, sealer, etc. which ran about and additional $350.00) but the workers were very good and I am happy with the completed job. I would defintiely use the company again in the future and I would recommend the company to others.
Description of Work: Pressure washed roof and house exterior and painted entire exterior of house including overhangs and shutters. Price was for services and did not include paint, sealer, etc.

Description of Work: Richard, the owner of the company, advised us as to paint and even the color to use. Patched the walls where needed and did a lot of work that, while we saw them do it, was not part of the plan. Spent an extra day because of their need to be meticulous. Enjoyed the crew that did the work also.

+ -1 moreAfter doing a walk-through of my condo with another paint contractor who quoted $1400 plus paint, I saw the 1/2 price deal on-line for A-Best Painters and described the scope of the project by phone. With limited time, the owner was not able to do a walk-though prior to my purchasing the deal and I was quoted $1600 plus paint over the phone. Having received high reviews on your site, I chose this company in good faith and went ahead and purchased the deal. The price then jumped up to $2600 at the walk-though and I had to scale back the project to stay within my $2000 budget. In the end, based on the number of man-hours and the regular Angie's List price, I paid as much as I would without the deal. As a local marketing director, I utilize half price deals often and was appalled that this contractor would jack up the rate to make up the cost of the discount. The quality of the painting that was done was fine, however I would never use or recommend this contractor again. This was my first time using Angie's List and it turned out to be an extemely expensive, stressful and disappointing decision. And - I am now painting a master bathroom myself.

While I, myself, am a furniture finisher and have been in the residential home construction business as a high end Kitchen and Bath designer I did not have the skills required to do this job. The craftsman from A-Best was extremely talented and skillful in his abilities. Both the repair work and the painting were impeccable! His attention to detail and cleanly execution of the job was amazing. In today's world of gross incompetence A-Best stands out as a shining star! They will always be my painter of choice in the future. I now have a painter to highly reccommend.

We have tall walls, lots of art work and newly installed wood flooring. After meeting with Richard the owner we were impressed and hoped the painters could deliver as promised. The painters were the only trade that came on time, worked straight thru the day and did what they promised. They knew exactly what kind of primers to make the peeling problems go away and the paints he recommended did there job. They had lots of drop cloths, plastic covering and cleaned up every day. The painters were clean, in uniform and after they finished each room it was amazing to see the transformation. The straight lines they painted really showed their talents. What a difference from the last paint job. I told their foreman that we had a deadline and a large party we were planning for. I never thought they could finish in time as they were working around the new floors being installed. They not only finished on time but they cleaned up behind themselves and left our house with the most wonderful paint job I have ever seen. My thanks to Richard and the staff of A-Best Painting in making my home beautiful. I would highly recommend this company. In fact, I will be using them to paint the exterior my home in the very near future.

Description of Work: Purchased an Angies coupon deal for painting, 2 men for 8 hours. Talked to Richard the week before to schedule the service, very responsive and was able to schedule 2 painters within the week. I purchased the paint from Home Depot the weekend before their arrival, always use a very good quality (this thime Behr). I spent the weekend preparing the rooms we wanted painted, by moving furniture, pictures and electrical covers. They arrived right on time and started to prep and paint. Tom and Eddie went right to work, they did not take breaks but worked their buns off from 8 to 4. They were able to exceed my expectations by completing the family room, kitchen, dining room, living room, and hallway. Very pleased with the whole process and would highly recommend this company. We are considering them for the bedrooms and an exterior paint job at our daughters' house.

Description of Work: I thought I had a leak in my roof and it came into the wall and ceiling. I had a roofer come to fix the roof. After stripping the ceiling and wall, they found it was still leaking. I called back the roofer to fix it again. It still leaked after testing it with water. The roofer then waterproof the outside of my wall. A-Best Painting was very patient through this whole process of getting my roof/wall fixed properly. After the waterproofing, A-Best filled in the holes, sanded and painted.

+ 1 moreThe work performed is top-notch. We needed wall paper removal, removal of a built-in wall, repair of water damaged wall paper and dry wall in one bedroom. The entire project was organized from start to finish and we were explained the entire process and schedule as to what would be done on what days. The staff arrived punctually on a daily basis. Clean-up of the daily work was done every day before the crew left, as well as a final clean-up on the last day. We recommended them to our next door neighbor who also needed some work done in their home and that project was also started by A-Best. Highly recommend this company and personnel for any project involving the areas already mentioned.
Description of Work: Excellent work and professionalism, not only from the owner, Mr. Richard Guitar, but from all the workers involved in the project. We had extensive wall paper removal, as well as removal of a built in wall unit, and interior painting of walls and ceiling and water damage repair.. From the expert painting and color suggestions to the final clean up and organization of the entire project, which took two weeks, the level of knowledge and pride in the work was clearly evident..
