Description of Work: We recently underwent a major home remodeling and needed to find a professional painter to put the finishing touches on our home. After a month and a half of construction and botched jobs with separate contractors, we learned how significant it is to go with professionals recommended throughout the community - also licensed and insured - who were willing to put the time in and hear out as many of the individual concerns we had. I found Richard through Angies list - highly rated, and invited a few other painters to come out for estimates long before the construction contractors began. Not only was he very responsive and communicated clearly from first contact, when I met him in person, he was so professional, amicable, and paid much more attention to detail than any other contractors I encountered. He pointed things out to me in my own home that had gone unnoticed by my own eye (and even my fiance's eye - and he's a physician who specializes in aesthetics, and imperfections drive him crazy!) that were simply signs of poor craftmanship and years of diy jobs that screamed for a professional facelift. None of the other painters pointed these things out unless I brought them up to them after my meeting with Richard and asked them what they were going to do about it. Not only did I NOT have to point things out to Richard - he sniffed everything out and had a sound, cost effective, well thought out plan of attack before I could even digest the flaws - which demonstrated his years of experience and simple common sense and reasoning skills on the job. My own personal background is in medicine and surgery and there was something very relatable in Richard's thought process which I admired and found very impressive because as we learn through experience - not everything goes according to plan, and not every canvas we are given is without imperfection - but he had a game plan and back up plan for the initial game plan and back up plan - options for every option - and I think that's why he gets the results his clients expect and the reason that he comes so highly reviewed. This man has experience, and he will make it happen. Richard came out not once, but twice for an estimate, as I had initially wanted to use him, but my fiance's contractor offered to remodel our bathroom and take on the paint job - until they botched the remodel and we realized we needed real professionals working on our house and the paint job would be the final step and there would not be anyone left for our hirees to pass the buck to. So again, I pleaded with my fiance to get another estimate from Richard a couple months later, and he generously came back out - spent an unreal and greatly appreciated amount of time with me - fine tuning all of the details, itemizing every little thing (because we have learned to be so nit-picky and get every little thing in writing). Above all, Richard was saintly patient with us and very honest. I am very sad to say that we have not gone with his company - even after this review, but that the choice came down to him, and one of my fiance's patients who is also a professional contractor. The deciding point was the price (if we were planning to stay in our house we would have invested more and certainly gone with Richard)- but it is so important to remember a lesson that has been beat into our heads after our most recent experiences: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I can guarantee that you will get an A-Best job from Richard - even without having used his company. He may be a little bit pricey - but for the quality assurance, and peace of mind (priceless, so priceless!) - he's not going to leave you holding the bag and he will not call it a day until you are satisfied. There are not many stand-up companies out there in the world of construction, roofing, painting - so many of them are willing to cut corners, pass the buck, cheap out - and try to pass things off. I do not see A-Best Painting as one of these companies. Not only is Richard professional and easy to communicate with - spelling everything out honestly, upfront, and clearly - but he is very considerate as an individual - and reflection of his company. When we do move into another house and when that house needs work - we will be calling A-Best Painters without a doubt for a professional job we can trust - and to deal with someone we feel comfortable with who will not wipe his hands and walk away until we feel the job meets our expectations. If you need a painter - this is your go-to guy. And this is the guy you're going to feel comfortable referring your friends and family to. He's going to make your house look better than you even initially pictured when you got the urge to hire a painter - and he's going to raise the bar on your own expectations so you can tell the difference between some guy who decided he'd go to Home Depot and start his own company because he did a decent job on his own house and a seasoned, practiced professional - and even then, he'll be a cut above the rest.
